Several times now the truck will get "stuck" in N or D and will not move. No loss of power, and can't manually shift out to park. Now waiting for a tow to the dealer, they were supposed to correct this when I took it in the last time it happened but didn't. There are a lot of online complaints IRT this issue with the powerboost 150 and other 150s. Mine was made at the Dearborn plant. Huge safety issue and it needs to be addressed

My 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost, VIN [XXX], is included in Ford recall 25S75 / NHTSA recall 25V455. The vehicle has stalled more than five times and is experiencing the same dangerous condition described in the recall. The Ford dealer told me I can bring the truck in, and they will diagnose the problem and repair it if they can. However, I must pay all costs upfront and then request reimbursement after Ford releases the official recall remedy. I should not be required to pay out of pocket for the diagnosis and repair of a known safety defect covered by an active recall. There is also no clear timeline for when a remedy will become available or when I would be reimbursed. I cannot reasonably be expected to pay now and potentially wait years to recover my money. This vehicle repeatedly stalls and creates a serious crash risk. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Ford’s delay and require Ford to provide an immediate, no-cost diagnosis and repair or provide safe alternative transportation until the recall remedy is available. I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2021 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly shifts hard/lags on gears 3-5 and sometime higher gears 7-9 at higher speeds. I’ve also noticed a buzzing/metallic rattling coming near the engine from inside. There is also times i can tell i have no power when trying to speed up and the other day i almost thought i was going to get T-Boned. This occurred while on my daily traffic commute to work, creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or propulsion. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. Ford technical information identifies axial movement of the CDF sleeve that can cause hydraulic-circuit leaks and harsh or delayed engagement and shifting. This condition can result in slipping, RPM flares, delayed engagement, unexpected gear changes, harsh downshifts, lurching, or loss of propulsion. This is a safety concern, not merely a transmission quality or reliability issue. Unexpected loss of propulsion or unpredictable shifting while merging, accelerating into traffic, crossing an intersection, turning, or traveling at highway speed can create a collision hazard. Because I personally experienced this unexpected transmission event, I request that NHTSA investigate the 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve condition in Ford F-150s. Please review Ford warranty claims, dealer repair records, transmission replacements, consumer complaints, and field-failure data to determine whether this is a safety defect requiring a recall. I believe owners should not have to wait for a potentially dangerous transmission failure before this known condition is addressed.

2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid, VIN [XXX]. At 112,000 miles — just 1,000 miles outside of warranty — the vehicle experienced catastrophic failure of the hybrid battery system. Ford's own technician diagnosed a short in the high voltage battery system that caused damage to the hybrid electric drive unit. Repair estimate is $19,000. Ford declined goodwill warranty coverage despite the vehicle being only 1,000 miles outside warranty and the failure occurring on a known problematic system. This is a $72,000 vehicle purchased new in 2021 that has suffered a catastrophic drivetrain failure at only 3 years old. The high voltage battery short and hybrid drive unit failure represent a potential safety hazard to drivers and other motorists. 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid Fremont, CA

ENGINE

In the second year of ownership I noticed that occasionally I would get no throttle response from the gas pedal when trying to accelerate. After several occurrences I began to pay close attention as to when this was occurring. I found that this occurs mostly, not exclusively, when I am slowing the vehicle to a near stop, not a full stop and then accelerating to continue, like slowing to round a corner on a green light and getting into traffic. For example, I was exiting a Home Depot parking lot, the driveway exits to the roadway. As I approached the driveway to enter the roadway I slowed, preparing to stop. Seeing no traffic on the roadway I then pushed the accelerator to enter the roadway. The pedal was dead, I got absolutely no acceleration. I pushed the pedal down slowly, nothing. I pushed the pedal to the floor, nothing. The truck rolled out onto the road, I coasted to the side of the road. Had there been traffic I'd have been hit. This has happened 20 times in two years and 80K miles. The most recent event was this week with my wife present, very scary, dead pedal, not throttle response. If you research "Dead Pedal" on GOOGLE, you will get the following response: The "dead pedal" in the Ford F-150 PowerBoost—a dangerous lag or total loss of throttle response—is a widely reported issue, particularly when accelerating from low speeds, turning, or right after starting. [1, 2, 3] The cause can range from a software glitch to transmission issues or failing sensors. Ford said there was a TSB, however the work performed had no effect on the dead pedal on my truck. Invoice attached from March 2026, it just occurred again this week. I am going to trade the vehicle in but I doubt that Ford will disclose this flaw to the next buyer, it will be their's to discover, hopefully not by "accident". I am going to trade this vehicle in and I'm sure the new buyer will have no idea of this potentially deadly flaw.

2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid Coventry, CT

ENGINE

Several times, the vehicle has failed to accelerate or respond to accellerator pedal input for several seconds. It seems to happen when switching from electric to hybrid modes, and when shifting between lower gears simultaneously. Once the switch to hybrid occurs the engine will rev high with some acceleration even if the accelerator pedal is no longer being pressed. This acceleration has happened when I had my foot over the brake pedal in anticipation of pulling over to stop since the truck would not accelerate. There are no warning lights or messages that appear on the vehicle. It is dangerous because it seems to happen when trying to accelerate from a lower speed. If it happens when trying to change lanes in stop and go traffic or while pulling into traffic other cars would have to brake hard to avoid hitting our vehicle that has experienced stalled acceleration. It is also dangerous because once the transition happens there is brief uncommanded acceleration.

Vehicle Information 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost VIN: [XXX] Complaint Description While driving approximately 70 mph on a highway, my 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost suddenly displayed a “Stop Safely Now” message and immediately lost propulsion. The engine shut down without warning while I was in active traffic. After the shutdown, the vehicle automatically shifted into park and would not allow me to shift into neutral. This left me unable to move the vehicle out of a live traffic lane. I was forced to shut the vehicle off while still in a dangerous roadway position. This incident created a serious safety hazard, as I was traveling at highway speed and could have been rear-ended due to the sudden loss of power and inability to move the vehicle. This issue appears to match Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 23-2317, which describes “Stop Safely Now” warnings, no-start conditions, and gateway module (GWM) software faults. This indicates a known defect that can cause sudden loss of propulsion. A claim has already been opened with Ford Motor Company under case number [XXX], and the vehicle is currently at a Ford dealership for diagnosis. At this time, the issue has not been resolved. This failure occurred without warning and presents a significant risk to driver safety and others on the road. On 7/18/25 I picked up F-150 from being repaired (failed Belt Drive Generator/Starter Tensioner). About 3 hours later I was driving up a long grade at about 5,000 feet when I stopped to check on my cargo (a bicycle). At this point I noticed the cooling fans were running increasingly fast, much faster then they had ever run before. I checked the digital temperature gauge and it showed a normal temperature. I opened the hood and saw there was no coolant in the overflow bottle. I assumed the truck was just a bit low on coolant and I had some (5 liters) water with me so I added that to the overflow bottle. Very little water was visible in the overflow bottle. I replaced the cap, turned off the A/C and immediately headed back to the dealer. At no point did the check engine light come on. At no point did the temperature gauge move from the "normal" area. At no point did any warning message of any time appear on the driver display - unless it occured when I was refilling the overflow bottle. The engine was not operating normally however, the gas engine stayed on at all times and did not cycle on and off as it normally would do (truck is a hybrid). When I arrived at the dealer they attempted to fill the coolant system and said it was completely empty - no sign of the 5 liters of water I put into the system. The cause of the leak was identified as the EGHR system, specifically the plastic coolant inlet port. This failure is discussed in Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 24N04 - attached. This failure should not have occured. But when it DID occur the vehcile should have warned the driver that a serious overheating event was occuring. No MIL was set. No driver warners were made and the temperature gauge remained in the normal range at all times. The ONLY way I because aware of the problem was by noticing the increasing speed of the cooling fans. This could lead to fire, or unexpected engine failure or burns from overheated radiator.

I am submitting a formal safety complaint regarding a known but unresolved software defect affecting the oil life monitoring system in the 2024 Ford F-150 (non-Lightning models). Ford has internally acknowledged the issue in Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 25-2331, dated July 18, 2025, but has not issued a recall or public notification to affected owners. Summary of the Defect: The vehicle's instrument panel cluster (IPC) reduces the reported oil life to 0% in less than 1,000 miles, even under normal driving conditions. Ford attributes this to flawed software logic in the IPC module. The oil life monitor is a critical engine maintenance indicator relied upon by vehicle owners to prevent premature wear or catastrophic engine failure. Faulty or misleading oil diagnostics can result in: Drivers disregarding future oil life warnings, assuming they are incorrect Operators running engines with degraded oil beyond safe limits Loss of trust in onboard diagnostics, affecting broader vehicle safety behavior Avoidable mechanical damage, particularly for owners following the vehicle’s built-in guidance Ford’s TSB instructs dealers to reprogram several modules, including the IPC, APIM, BCM, GWM, and TCU, but only if a customer complains. There is no recall, no public campaign, and no direct owner communication. This leaves potentially thousands of vehicles on the road with faulty maintenance guidance—and owners unaware of it. Why This Warrants Recall Action: This is not a cosmetic or comfort issue. It is a misrepresentation of core engine health diagnostics that, if followed blindly (as owners are instructed to), could cause premature engine wear or failure. The behavior directly undermines the purpose of onboard diagnostics and scheduled maintenance. I urge the NHTSA to investigate TSB 25-2331 and consider elevating this matter to a formal safety recall, or at minimum, compel Ford to issue a customer service campaign notifying all potentially affected owners.

2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid Monson, MA Fire

ENGINE

On Sunday, [XXX], my truck spontaneously burst into flames while parked in my front yard. I had just returned from doing a number of errands. The truck had been running fine with no indications of a problem. I was outside tending to my smoker when I heard a sort of popping/crackling noise. I looked up at my truck approximately 40 feet away and saw flames shooting out from the engine bay through the hood gaps. I called 911 and attempted to douse the flames with a powder fire extinguisher with no luck. By the time the fire department arrived 15 minutes later or so, the truck was fully involved and burnt to the frame. I didn't smell gasoline during the initial startup, but a strong smell of burning wires. The concerns are of course for my safety and that of my family. It was just luck that the truck was parked in the front yard rather than next to my house where it's normally parked. We were have a sidewalk put in and thus my normal parking space wasn't available. I could've been driving at the time and with the speed of this fire, I'm not confident I would've been able to get out. The truck has been seen by the insurance company and is being towed out of my yard sometime today May 29th, 2025. I don't know where it will towed to. I have pictures and videos detailing the fire and it's progression. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

After driving home from work on 12/20/24 the truck was parked at ~10pm. At ~1AM on 12/21/24, I was alerted that the truck was on fire. I found the vehicle fully engulfed in the hood and cab area. There was no prior indication of a problem or issue. The truck was fully destroyed and my home and Jeep were damaged. My home was damaged and only saved because I brought my garden hose out and sprayed the house until the local FD arrived. The local Fire Investigator and the Insurance Fire investigator could it definitively identify how/why the truck caught fire and burned up.

Vehicle lost electrical power to multiple systems- Instrument cluster did not display any information- could not tell the speed of the vehicle, how much fuel was in the vehicle, gauges for coolant, oil, etc. were non-existent, did not have use of turn signals, hazard lights, blind spot indicators, did not have use of wipers, heating/cooling and defrost, could not tell what gear vehicle was in, could not tell what mode the vehicle was in. This made the vehicle extremely dangerous to drive. There have been multiple electrical issues prior to this. All issues have been addressed by Ford dealer and supposedly fixed as of now.
