ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Several times now the truck will get "stuck" in N or D and will not move. No loss of power, and can't manually shift out to park. Now waiting for a tow to the dealer, they were supposed to correct this when I took it in the last time it happened but didn't. There are a lot of online complaints IRT this issue with the powerboost 150 and other 150s. Mine was made at the Dearborn plant. Huge safety issue and it needs to be addressed

The contact owns a 2026 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Service Charging Battery" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who discovered that rodents had chewed through a power cable and built a nest inside the engine compartment. The dealer found one rodent electrocuted in the engine compartment. The contact was informed that the power cable connector and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained with the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,300.

2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid Madison, WI

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The vehicle is currently at Kayser Automotive Group located at 2303 West Beltline Hwy Madison, WI 53713, their direct line is [XXX], since the diagnoses of the corrosion of the DCN. SYSTEMS & COMPONENTS THAT FAILED: A faulty or clogged engine bay drain plug failed to divert water, causing significant water accumulation that routed into the interior cabin. This water intrusion directly soaked interior carpeting and exposed the Data Communication Network (DCN) connector and Body Control Module (BCM) wiring harness to moisture, resulting in severe pin corrosion and electrical communication faults. The vehicle and all affected components are fully available for inspection upon request. SAFETY RISK: The DCN connector and Body Control Module control critical vehicle operations, exterior lighting, instrument clusters, and safety/driver-assistance systems. Water corrosion on these communication buses causes unpredictable, uncommanded electrical failures and module communication dropouts while operating the vehicle at speed, creating a severe crash hazard to occupants and surrounding traffic. DEALER CONFIRMATION & INSPECTIONS: The issue was physically inspected and confirmed by an authorized Ford dealership service department, Kayser Automotive Group located at 2303 West Beltline Hwy Madison, WI 53713. Dealership technicians verified the water accumulation path, identified the faulty/clogged drain pathway, and documented physical corrosion on the DCN wiring connector. A Technical Assistance Center (TAC) case was requested to escalate the defect to Ford Corporate. WARNING LAMPS & PRIOR SYMPTOMS: Initial symptoms appeared as heavily saturated interior floor carpets and standing water pooling near the cowl/dash area. Shortly thereafter, intermittent electrical glitches, warning lamps on the instrument cluster, and network communication Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) appeared as the corrosion worsened. 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid Tampa, FL

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Good Afternoon. The Pro Power Onboard high-voltage electrical system has experienced a permanent malfunction, locking out with a "Ground Fault Detected" warning. The vehicle is a 2021 Ford F-150 Rocky Ridge conversion. This failure stems directly from a defective or incomplete execution of Safety Recall 23S35 (NHTSA Campaign 23V613000).The initial remedy applied by the dealership consisted only of adding protective tape to the rear wiring harness. However, due to the increased travel and ride height of the official Rocky Ridge suspension lift, the wiring harness pulled out of its factory retaining side clip. This caused excessive tension and stretching on the high-voltage lines, completely exposing the bare interior colored wires and leaving them vulnerable to road moisture and friction against the metal frame. The system now triggers a permanent short-to-ground error, creating an imminent risk of an electrical short circuit or vehicle fire under the high-voltage (120V/240V) lines. The Ford dealership and corporate customer care refuse to remedy this recurring safety hazard under the recall warranty because it was previously marked as completed, even though the applied remedy failed to safely secure the harness. The component is available for inspection.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

On Friday, June 12, 2026, the check engine light illuminated on my vehicle. I took it to my local Ford dealer on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The dealer diagnosed the issue as a defective Gear Shift Module (GSM) and quoted approximately $1,000 for replacement. The service advisor informed me that failure to repair this component could result in the vehicle becoming unable to shift into Park or unable to shift out of Park. This defect poses a serious safety risk, as it could prevent the truck from being properly secured when parked, potentially allowing it to roll away, into traffic, or cause injury to persons or property. Ford is aware of this issue, as a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) has been issued for it. However, the repair is currently being treated as a customer-pay item rather than a warranty or safety-related repair. This condition represents a significant safety concern that could affect many other 2024 F-150 owners. I urge NHTSA to investigate this matter promptly to determine if a recall or mandatory safety fix is warranted. I am available to provide additional details, including the dealership repair order, diagnostic information, and any supporting documentation. Thank you for your attention to this important vehicle safety issue.

2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid, VIN [XXX]. At 112,000 miles — just 1,000 miles outside of warranty — the vehicle experienced catastrophic failure of the hybrid battery system. Ford's own technician diagnosed a short in the high voltage battery system that caused damage to the hybrid electric drive unit. Repair estimate is $19,000. Ford declined goodwill warranty coverage despite the vehicle being only 1,000 miles outside warranty and the failure occurring on a known problematic system. This is a $72,000 vehicle purchased new in 2021 that has suffered a catastrophic drivetrain failure at only 3 years old. The high voltage battery short and hybrid drive unit failure represent a potential safety hazard to drivers and other motorists. 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid Jensen Beach, FL

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Highway Incident: While traveling at highway speeds, a sudden evasive braking maneuver caused the truck to drop power. Upon attempting to re-accelerate, the throttle pedal went to the floor with zero response, and the vehicle continued to decelerate on an active highway. Multiple trailing vehicles had to make emergency maneuvers to swerve around the decelerating truck to avoid a high-speed, rear-end collision. Subsequent Incidents: The vehicle repeatedly forces an uncommanded speed limit of 11 mph while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop or merge from stop signs. This severe lack of predictable acceleration creates an immediate risk of being T-boned or rear-ended by cross-traffic, making the vehicle entirely unsafe to operate in normal traffic conditions. An authorized Ford dealership has confirmed the underlying failure of the hybrid system. They kept the vehicle for approximately one month to replace the entire hybrid drive unit. Following that repair, the vehicle was returned to the dealer a second time, where technicians confirmed a software communication failure between the electric and gas systems, attempting to resolve it by flashing/reprogramming the ECU. The vehicle’s hybrid system and software have been extensively inspected and worked on by manufacturer-certified technicians at an authorized Ford dealership. It has not been inspected by police or insurance, as no physical collision has occurred yet. No warning lamps or messages.

2024 Ford F-150 Platinum PowerBoost Hybrid. Diagnostic codes for power steering loss and CAN bus communication faults documented at 337 miles, well within the 3-year/36,000-mile new vehicle warranty. The vehicle has been at a Ford dealer since March 10, 2026 for symptoms including the truck randomly turning off while driving and loss of power steering communication. As of this report, the truck has been at the dealer 58 days without resolution. Documented diagnostic findings include: Lost Communication with PSCM (U0131), SCP/J1850 Communications Bus Fault (U1028), permanent code P1A42 Propulsion System Status Signal Performance, hybrid-specific High Voltage System Interlock U3523-00, Steering Position Sensor P060A, no communication with Power Steering Control Module, intermittent PCM communication during self-tests, BCMC fuse 69 with no power, and circuit CBB69 with no voltage. A Ford Field Service Engineer was dispatched April 23, 2026. On April 24, 2026 the dealer located damaged wiring inside a harness behind the BCMC bracket. Prior to that, the dealer escalated through R&I of multiple modules (PSCM, PCM, BCMC, Gateway Module access) over 45 days without locating the actual cause. The vehicle is currently subject to NHTSA recall 26V104 / Ford 26C10 (Trailer Module loss of communication at startup) issued 3/18/2026, status Recall Incomplete. The recall describes the same general failure mode (module communication loss at startup) the customer has been experiencing. Power steering loss while driving is a serious safety concern, particularly given the vehicle's hybrid drivetrain and CAN-bus-dependent safety systems.

Vehicle Information 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost VIN: [XXX] Complaint Description While driving approximately 70 mph on a highway, my 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost suddenly displayed a “Stop Safely Now” message and immediately lost propulsion. The engine shut down without warning while I was in active traffic. After the shutdown, the vehicle automatically shifted into park and would not allow me to shift into neutral. This left me unable to move the vehicle out of a live traffic lane. I was forced to shut the vehicle off while still in a dangerous roadway position. This incident created a serious safety hazard, as I was traveling at highway speed and could have been rear-ended due to the sudden loss of power and inability to move the vehicle. This issue appears to match Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 23-2317, which describes “Stop Safely Now” warnings, no-start conditions, and gateway module (GWM) software faults. This indicates a known defect that can cause sudden loss of propulsion. A claim has already been opened with Ford Motor Company under case number [XXX], and the vehicle is currently at a Ford dealership for diagnosis. At this time, the issue has not been resolved. This failure occurred without warning and presents a significant risk to driver safety and others on the road. The Belt Integrated Starter Generator (BISG) on my 2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost intermittently fails, triggering DTC P0A1E-00 and causing complete loss of electric drive mode during normal driving without warning. Vehicle continues running but with significantly reduced fuel efficiency until manually restarted. Fault occurrences are escalating in frequency: 9/13/2025 while running ProPower Onboard under medium load camping in the Everglades, 11/20/2025, then 3/3/2026, 3/6/2026, 3/10/2026, and 3/12/2026 — two occurrences within one hour during morning commute — seven total occurrences. All documented via Ford App push notifications. Sam Galloway Ford in Fort Myers, FL confirmed DTC P0A1E-00 on 3/4/2026. Repair estimated at $1,900 with part backordered minimum three months. I was charged $266.20 for the diagnostic. Ford Motor Company denied my warranty claim stating the part is not a hybrid unique component despite P0A1E-00 being a hybrid-specific fault code and Ford's own TSB 23-2279 covering this exact condition under warranty. I called Ford customer service 4 times 3/10/2026 and was told my claim ticket was closed on 3/4/2026, the same day I opened it without technical explanation. No one has returned my calls since and I was not provided written denial documents. A BBB complaint has been filed.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated to 85 MPH. The contact continuously depressed the brake pedal until the vehicle decelerated. The contact stated that the failure recurred after releasing the brake pedal, which required the contact to continuously depress the brake pedal until the vehicle decelerated. The message "Brake Reduction" was displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as intended. Additionally, the contact stated that the interior eye-tracking camera had failed to register the driver's presence in the vehicle intermittently, causing the vehicle to slam on the brakes while driving 70 MPH. The contact stated that the Lane Keeping System (LKS) occasionally prompted the driver to keep hands on the steering wheel while the driver's hand were already on the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed; however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80.

2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid South Wellfleet, MA Fire

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

My Ford F150 was traveling on I95 North in Maryland when an emergency notice on the dashboard told be to pull over. The truck would not restart and had to be towed to a Ford dealer. I have since been told a controller module caught fire and damaged the hybrid battery and both would need to be replaced at a cost of over $10,000. This is a know issue and other Ford F150 Hybrid trucks as well as other Ford cars have already been recalled. Ford claims that my VIN was not included in the recall even though I experienced exactly what the recall was suppose to prevent. My wife and I could have been killed while traveling on the highway at 70 MPH and the vehicle was on fire without our knowledge.

2023 Ford F-150 Hybrid West Babylon, NY Crash

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I was in my driveway, I placed the vehicle in reverse backed out normally, when I put it into Drive I let go of the brakes, I did not press the accelerator pedal, and the truck instantly accelerated while in electric mode. The acceleration was so quick that I slammed the brakes and the tires gripped the ground but I could not stop it in time and I hit a cement pylon. That same day, later in the evening I noticed that my transmission temperature was reading cold even though i had been driving for over 40 minutes. The following day, in the morning I started the truck, put it in drive and it felt like the accelerator pedal would not work, after a couple seconds of me pressing on it to see if it would catch I felt propulsion from the truck and the accelerator was working again. I am scared to continue driving this truck because its a risk to my family and my safety. I attempted to contact Ford corporate and they want me to make a claim with my insurance, then take it to a dealer so they can "inspect it" Please help

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

When I started my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the Bang & Olufsen (B&O) sound system, a sudden extremely loud “sonic boom” noise came through the speakers without warning. The sound was so intense it caused immediate pain in my ears, and I am concerned about the possibility of permanent hearing damage. This occurred at startup, before I adjusted any audio settings. This is a serious safety hazard because: The volume level was far beyond normal operation. It caused physical harm (ear pain). Such an unexpected loud noise could startle the driver, leading to loss of vehicle control. I believe this defect poses a risk of injury and should be investigated.
