2025 Ford F-150 Hybrid Laurel, MS

WHEELS

Vehicle experienced a flat tire on the side of a busy highway. The factory installed wheel rim was impossble to remove from the hub because it was corroded to the hub. Teo people had to stand in the traffic lane on an interstate highway to use mechanical leverage to remove the wheel. This vehicle is only 2 months old.

2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid Clarklake, MI

WHEELS

Recall # 23V896 was sent to me on January 2024 and 14 months later still no parts available for the repair. Risk are the vehicle may roll in park and lose power while driving. I have already had one of the bolts break and it was replaced with a new defective bolt because replacements ( non - defective ) bolts were not yet available. Why is this taking over a year to resolve?

WHEELS

NHTSA states to file a complaint if there has been no remedy in reference to a safety recall in a timely manner. As of to date there is still an open recall on my truck and Ford has stated the recall is incomplete due to no remedy yet available. This recall has been in place since 12/22/23. My truck did have a broken hub bolt and I believe the dealership replaced the passenger rear axle hub. The dealership told me that this is only a temporary repair until Ford comes up with a remedy.

WHEELS

We have been stranded twice for the recall issued in late January 2024, for the rear axle. The truck is currently at the 5th dealership since January2024. The truck is not driveable and Ford still does not have a way to fix the issue. We are having the axle replaced for the second time by a Ford dealership, with no assurance that they have determined how to solve the problem. We picked the truck up from the last axle repair on 2-21-24. We had a rear wheel sensor issue on 3-6-24, after driving less than 1000 miles. On 3-28-24, the axle defect occurred again. The truck was towed again. The Ford website says they do not yet have a solution, yet their certified mechanics continue to “fix” the issue.

2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid Meridian, ID

WHEELS

Broken bolt in passenger side rear axel. While pulling off the tire the bolt fell to the ground. It is evident it had been broken for quite some time. I think it prevents lateral movement of the axel.

WHEELS

On November 29, 2023 I took my 2021 F150 to Larry Miller Ford for servicing and repairs related to Recalls 22S71 and 23S35. When the tech was rotating the wheels he discovered that the axle shaft bolts were sheered off on both the left and right rear wheels. The service manager called to tell me that this was a serious safety issue and that only the brake rotors were preventing the wheels from falling off the truck. The service manager told me there was a "Customer Satisfaction Program 22B34" issued by Ford, but no Ford Recall relating to the problem. Larry Miller Ford has replaced both axles and axle bolts. I am waiting to find out if there is damage to the rotors, calipers or brake pads, a concern since the sheered off bolts were rattling around within that area since breaking off apparently between service visits. I strongly believe Ford should be required to issue a recall on this problem. I never received a notification on CSP 22B34. Had it not been for my tire rotation, the wheels could have fallen off at highway speed.

2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid Lansing, MI

WHEELS

My truck has the Maximun payload axle upgrade. The axle bolts on the end of the shaft have broken. I first notice squealing sound of metal from rear of truck. I searched on line for the symptom and found the problem. I then removed passenger rear wheel to verify broken bolt. I took my truck for service to Morries Grand Ledge Ford in Michigan. They verified the problem, told me it was not safe to drive and have ordered parts. They also informed me that the defective axle is not covered by recall on my vehicle. The service representative did confirm that there are recalls for the same axle but not my vehicle.

2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid Denver, CO

WHEELS

The Axle bolts on both sides of the truck sheared off. The passenger rear axle bolt sheared at 15,000 miles into having the new truck. The driver side rear axle bolt sheared at 21,000 miles. This is a large safety concern and is not unique to just me. The first axle bolt sheared and was repaired once I figured out the problem at a Ford dealer. The second bolt is currently being repaired in the same dealer's service department. There was no warning or detection of this problem other than a rattling sound during acceleration and a wizzing sound during braking. I do not have either of the sheared axle bolts. They were kept by the dealer.

2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid Porter, TX

WHEELS

Right side Rear axle Bolt sheared off. Dealers do not want to fix or cant fix the problem even thought there is a Customer Satisfaction Bulletin that Ford has put out to fix the vehicle. CSP 22B34 Bolt shear has been confirmed by 2 dealers and was told they could not do anything about it until there was a Recall. This has been happening to Hundreds to thousands of F150's. No warnings that it had sheared off. I had my tires Rotated and the mechanics found the bolt rolling around the wheel drum which could cause other problems if not fixed. It looks like the only thing holding the axle in is the brake calipers and if they fail , wheel and or axle could separate from the vehicle which could cause other drivers or pedestrians to be injured. Please help and have Ford make this a recall before somebody is injured or worse.

NHTSA complaint #11542971 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid Star, ID

WHEELS

The driver's side rear axle bolt sheared off over the course of normal driving. Ford is aware of this problem, advises to not use/drive the vehicle, yet no recall has been issued. Without a recall, getting this issue fixed will take weeks/months and Ford should pay for a rental vehicle since this is clearly a manufacturing defect.

Rear axle bolt broke off

NHTSA complaint #11539993 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid st Augustine, FL

WHEELS

The axle bolt has broken twice. The first time I was advised the factory torqued it too tight. The entire axle was replaced. The second time both hub assemblies were replaced. I was told there was a recall but no one could advise me why it was happening or any specifics on the recall. Both time the bolt was found to be broken when I had the tires rotated, there was no odd sounds or odd driving movement to indicate something was wrong. I took the truck into have the bolt inspected after about 1,000 miles to make certain it was ok. The bolt was intact but I was told that the Ford had issued a recall for trucks from a made at a certain factory for using "bad bolts." No one could tell me which factory, if my truck was from that factory and how bad bolts were used for a second time after it was fixed initially. I have not received a recall notice from Ford reference bad bolts or axle issues.

2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid Spring Valley, NY

WHEELS

Bolt that holds the axle on to the vehicle is broken in half and therefore the axle can unexpectedly fall off the vehicle. It is the rear driver side axle. This was noticed when I recently replaced my tires and the broken screw was loose in the wheel.

NHTSA complaint #11532707 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid Miami Beach, FL

WHEELS

I removed my wheels for standard rotation. When I removed the wheel from the passenger side rear, I found the rear axle bolt was fractured. The portion of the bolt and washer were inside the wheel. This appeared to have been chronic. Pictures available. I did not attempt to remove this bolt. This spontaneously sheared off. It was literally sitting inside the wheel hub.

2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid Sonoma, CA

WHEELS

Planned one week, 1,400 miles roadtrip along pacific coast during memorial day weekend. Before starting our trip I went to rotate the tires and upon removing the rear passenger side wheel a bolt and metal gasket fell out. Issue: Center bolt that locks the brake assembly to the rear axle shaft was sheared off with remaining half stuck in the axle shaft. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk?: The truck would have been loaded for our week long roadtrip up North. On the way back we were going to tow our 5000lbs trailer. This bolt would have impacted the braking ability, cause damage to the rear axle assembly possibly resulting in an accident. If I didn't rotate the tires before leaving who knows what could have happened especially if I was towing. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Vehicle is currently at a Ford dealer for axle shaft replacement. The service manager had a broken bolt from another vehicle and asked me is this what happened? There are hundreds of F150 owners complaining about the same thing on various forums. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet. I'm glad it didn't get to that point. But from all users that had this problem and got replacement axle for what seems like defective bolts I would hope Ford would voluntarily inspect and issue a recall. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No fault lights but I did hear faint grinding sound when the windows are rolled down. I guess the bolt was spinning around in the wheel.
