FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Ive noticed that the electric motor sometimes doesnt want to disengage quickly when I step on the brakes. In this incident I had to make a hard brake because someone pulled out in front of me. I had the cruise control on. When I slammed on the brakes the vehicle did not stop fast the vehicle felt as if it was still being pushed by something. Then a small jolt was felt and then the vehicle finally slowed. Had I been going faster or had the car that pulled been closer. This fault would have resulted in an incident
NHTSA complaint #11754246 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The computer system malfunctioned; the front panel warning was "Stop vehicle and check regen. brakes". I put my car in drive and when I hit the gas pedal the car reversed instead of going forward. I got it towed to the dealer at Piazza Hyundai in Limerick PA. The service did not provide me with an explanation about the warning and showed little concerns to the issues, I was given a month time frame for looking at my car. I consider this a safety issue as the car did not respond appropriately to D and R, I suspect a computer failure.

I want to include an important detail about the accident involving my 2025 Ford F-150 (VIN: [XXX] ). Immediately before the collision, I experienced a sudden change in braking. The brake pedal became very hard, and the vehicle did not slow as expected even with increased pressure on the pedal. This condition lasted for a few seconds and significantly reduced my ability to stop. The auto braking feature also did not activate. There were no clear warning indicators at the time, and the event happened very quickly. Based on how the vehicle responded, it felt like a loss of brake assist. My vehicle collided with a semi truck, totalling the front end. I was very lucky to walk away alive. Thankfully airbags and my seat belt saved me. I am reporting this as part of the incident record in case it is relevant to the cause of the accident. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA complaint #11733467 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated to 85 MPH. The contact continuously depressed the brake pedal until the vehicle decelerated. The contact stated that the failure recurred after releasing the brake pedal, which required the contact to continuously depress the brake pedal until the vehicle decelerated. The message "Brake Reduction" was displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as intended. Additionally, the contact stated that the interior eye-tracking camera had failed to register the driver's presence in the vehicle intermittently, causing the vehicle to slam on the brakes while driving 70 MPH. The contact stated that the Lane Keeping System (LKS) occasionally prompted the driver to keep hands on the steering wheel while the driver's hand were already on the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed; however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80.

Was stopped behind a car in line in the parking lot. The truck was in drive with the auto hold brake feature enabled. The auto hold disengaged and the car rolled forward rear ending the car in front of me. Collision alert didn't sound as expected. A similar recall came out August 6 for 2025 F150s.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V315000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that there was a chirping noise coming from underneath the chassis of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer confirmed that parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the chirping issue and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,795. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
NHTSA complaint #11671681 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
While driving, a vehicle began stopping in front of me. I attempted to stop, however my braking power seemed heavily reduced. Eventually the emergency automatic braking kicked in and engaged my emergency brake. I barely stopped in time. Simultaneously, several warning lights appeared on my dash including ABS, traction control, hill assist, and check engine. Immediately after the incident, my brake pedal felt loose. Braking power was severely diminished and delayed. Stopping while going a mere 5 mph would take about 10 yards. It was extremely dangerous and scary to operate - even to pull into the nearest safe parking lot. Upon restarting my vehicle twice, the lights went off except for the check engine light and my braking power returned.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The vehicle lost both cruise control functions (adaptive and normal) during the drive and will only reset to normal cruise control after shutting off vehicle and restarting it. Then it will only work on normal cruise control temporarily.

On [XXX], at approximately [XX], a deer unexpectedly ran out from the side of the road and struck the side of my vehicle. The deer ran out from a tree line that backs up to a neighborhood adjacent to [XXX] The deer was to the left, and the A-Pillar blocked the view of the deer, which was traveling at relatively the same speed as the truck, which kept the deer in the blind spot until impact. Despite the impact, the crash avoidance system did not detect the animal, did not initiate braking, and did not provide any audible or visual alerts that an accident had occurred. The truck continued moving forward until I manually applied the brakes. The deer was relatively similar in size to a teenager, and all though the vehicle is not designed to detect animals, it is still concerning it did not even register the deer, did not do any evasive steering, did not apply brakes when the accident occurred, and did not even notify me of the accident before, during, or post crash event. With the advertised safety features on the truck, I worry that if this had been person, the truck would not have registered the person either. I would like to discuss a failure and concern with my new 2025 Ford F150. The Failure: While driving down the highway with Blue Cruise engaged and in control, the truck quickly veered off to the right. I immediately grabbed the steering wheel to correct the direction of the truck to avoid being driven off the road by the system. Based on the photo (attached) I have attached, it appears the Blue Cruise system possibly became confused with these lines in the road. Had I not corrected the vehicle, the truck quite possibly could have continued veering to the right, causing a catastrophic vehicle crash. I have attached a photo for your viewing. The Concern: The second issue relates to the F150s transmission. Like my 2021 F150, the 2025 F150 continues to exhibit the same concern with the transmission shifting hard (with a thud) from Park to Drive and similarly when stopped at a light to engaging the gas pedal. This leaves me to believe there will be transmission failure at some point due to the hard jerks. What is going on Ford??

The weather was heavy rain. The road was a two lane rural roadway with a 35mph speed limit. There were no other vehicles present and there were no obstructions in the roadway. As I slowed approaching a stop sign, the collision warning system activated. Traction control activated. The vehicle began braking. The transmission put itself in Park at ~15 mph. When the vehicle stopped moving it turned itself off. The vehicle came to a stop in the lane it was traveling in at the time it began to malfunction. The vehicle transmission would not come out of park. When I attempted to restart the vehicle it activated the horn until it was turned off again. Safety issue was the vehicle sudden stop and coming to rest in the travelled portion of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to Battlefield Ford in Culpeper VA on the date of the incident ([XXX]) and it was returned to me on [XXX]. The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, making a right turn and coming to a stop, the check engine and Forward Collision Avoidance warning light were deactivated, and the traction control warning light and other system failure warning lights were illuminated. The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal; however, the brakes failed to respond as needed. The contact coasted down the street and drifted and parked the vehicle. The contact attempted to accelerate; however, after depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop as needed. The contact drifted and stopped and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the electronic brake booster had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer contacted the manufacturer and opened a case. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 22,075.

This happens every time I have lane keeping assist turned on and cruise control activated. The truck will periodically pull all the way to the right of the lane, to the point that the tires are on the right line and I am looking down the center of the lane. The more I fight to keep the truck in the center of the lane, the more it pulls to the right. The only way to stop this, other than disabling lane keeping, is to let the truck wander over to the right while barely touching the steering wheel. It will eventually return to the center of the lane. The dashboard graphics show a blue circle around the truck to indicate that the truck is in the center of the lane. When too far to the edge, it will change to show you are not centered. At no time while the truck is pulling to the right does the truck indicate it is out of position. Therefore, even though I am correctly centered in the lane, both by my own observation and the truck's indication, the system still pulls the truck to the right. This appears to be a systemic issue with the system. Here is a post from 2021 where someone is complaining about the same behavior: [XXX] This is a safety issue because: 1) It is fatiguing to have the system on and have to constantly fight it to keep the truck centered in the lane. On frequent 10-hour trips, I have to turn it off because it is adding to my fatigue and workload, even though I would like the benefit of proper lane keeping. 2) I can turn off the system but then I get no driver assistance when I actually drift in the lane. 3) This is most an issue when passing a vehicle in the right lane and the truck veers towards that vehicle. Again I have to fight the truck to not steer into adjacent vehicles. The Ford dealer has diagnosed the system and found no issues or software updates.
