5 times since July 2026 the vehicle 2025 Honda Odyssey fills with the smell of gas. The smell fills the entire garage. After the 4th incident, it was brought to the dealership on 8/18/2026, however they were unable to reproduce the issue smell. They stated the EVAP system was function and at the time there were no obvious leaks. Despite it being a known issue, there are no recall or repairs per the dealership. They stated that Honda is apparently aware and are "investigating." The smell recurred today and was immediately brought to the dealership since the problems was not reproduced when previously in their possession. It was noted by multiple staff member but since there is no known fix, there was nothing the dealership could do. They are aware of several other Honda Odysseys with this issue in the same area. I was instructed not to park the vehicle in the garage which makes me concerned for mine and my family's safety. The smell can be very overwhelming and makes me lightheaded.

While at a stop light on a major road, the vehicles auto start stop engaged. Upon the light turning green, I released the brake and vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle put itself into park and flashed a warning message "problem detected....." . I pressed the start button, and at first the vehicle failed to start, making a clicking sound, consistent with a dead battery or starter. I had to press the start button 4 times before the vehicle restarted and I could proceed. I was extremely concerned as I had my wife and three kids in the car, unable to move forward on a major roadway. I have an appointment at the dealer for this Friday.

Safety Risk: The failing fuel injectors create a severe engine air/fuel imbalance, which causes engine hesitation, engine stumbling during acceleration, and unpredictable power loss. This puts my family at high risk of a collision, particularly when merging onto highways, crossing busy intersections, or accelerating from a stop. Furthermore, dumping unburnt fuel into the exhaust risks overheating the catalytic converter, creating a potential fire hazard. Dealer Confirmation: Yes. The problem was confirmed by AutoNation Honda 365 in Memphis, TN, on [XXX] (Mileage: 83,452). Manufacturer Inspection: The vehicle was inspected by factory-trained technicians at an authorized Honda dealership. A case was opened with Honda Corporate, but they refused to cover the repair, stating my specific VIN batch was excluded from their warranty extension, despite suffering the exact same failure. Warning Lamps & Symptoms: An "Emissions System Problem" warning and the Check Engine Light illuminated on [XXX]. Incident Description & Cause: Honda is fully aware of this dangerous defect. They issued Service Bulletin 21-010, acknowledging that "debris from the high-pressure pump or the fuel injector machining process can cause internal wear or clogging" in 2018-2019 Odysseys. Following the TSB 21-010 protocol, the dealer pulled code P219A and performed a "Cylinder AF Test." My vehicle failed the test (Cylinder 3 running rich). The Honda technician’s official notes state: "Fail air fuel test need injector set internal failure." Honda extended the warranty to 10 years/150,000 miles for this known manufacturing defect, yet they are arbitrarily excluding my 2019 Odyssey, which has the exact identical internal failure documented by their own dealer. Gasoline fuel vapors enter the passenger cabin of my 2026 Honda Odyssey while driving. The problem began XXX, the day after a dealer oil change, and has recurred repeatedly, growing stronger each time. It is worst in high ambient heat (100 to 116 F), with the fuel tank above half full, and after extended idling or stop-and-go driving on a heat-soaked engine. It initially occurred only after idling but now also fills the cabin at cruising speed. No warning lights or messages precede it. On XXX in about 116 F heat, the cabin filled with gasoline vapor with my two children (ages [XXX] and [XXX]) aboard. Onset was immediate: nausea, lightheadedness, and sore throat. I had to shut off the A/C and open the windows in extreme heat to reduce exposure, and the children had to be taken home in a different vehicle. Poison control was contacted the same day, opened case files for all three of us, and assessed the symptoms as consistent with short-term gasoline vapor exposure. A pediatric follow-up is scheduled. The dealer has confirmed the problem. Repair Order XXX (Tempe Honda, XXX 14,032 miles) states the advisor and tech did confirm smell coming from vehicle, and that the issue is currently under investigation by AHM, with no work done. An earlier dealer inspection onXXX found nothing. American Honda has an open corporate case, and no repair path has been provided to date. In-cabin TVOC air readings of about 2.0 mg/m3, peaking at 6.0 mg/m3, were captured on video. The vehicle is available for inspection, and repair orders, videos, and manufacturer correspondence are available on request. The vehicle is no longer driven with children aboard. 2026 Honda Odyssey: Strong Exhaust/Fuel Odor in Cabin Causing Dizziness and Nausea I am submitting this complaint to report a potential safety issue involving a vehicle that is less than one year old. Beginning this past weekend, the vehicle suddenly began filling the passenger cabin with a strong exhaust-like odor during normal operation. The odor is severe enough that multiple occupants have experienced symptoms such as dizziness and nausea after spending approximately 10 minutes inside the vehicle. I visited my local Honda dealership to report the issue and seek assistance. According to the representatives I spoke with, Honda believes this is a known and widespread issue affecting multiple makes and models and that it is allegedly related to recent changes in gasoline formulation. I was further informed that Honda is aware of the issue, that engineering teams are working on a solution, and that there is currently no corrective action available to consumers. Honda also stated that, despite the odor, the condition does not involve toxic fumes and is only an odor concern. I am not ready to accept that explanation without further investigation. At this time: The condition began suddenly and without warning. The odor is strong and persistent. Occupants have experienced dizziness and nausea while riding in the vehicle. Honda has not identified a repair or mitigation. Honda has indicated that this may be a broader issue rather than an isolated vehicle defect. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter to determine whether similar complaints have been reported and whether this condition warrants further investigation as a potential safety defect. I have also requested that Honda provide written documentation supporting its statements regarding: The alleged fuel-formulation cause of the issue. The assertion that occupants are not being exposed to harmful fumes. Any technical bulletins, engineering analyses, or communications related to this condition.

XXX, I was driving my 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L on a family trip to Florida when the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and the car went into neutral. We were on [XXX], close to [XXX]. My wife and I had to push the car off the side of the road and call a tow truck company. This occurred on a Friday night. The only place I was able to take the vehicle for repair was the nearest dealership. I told them what happened. The service writer tells me the issue is the fuel pump and high pressure fuel pump. The cost was $2,800. When I told them I was on vacation and this issue should've been resolved back in 2021 with the recall they told me nothing could be done. I had the recall work completed in 2021 with 12,000 miles on the van. The fuel pump & high pressure fuel pump problem occurred in June 2026 with 51,000 miles on the van. The vehicle went into a limp mode due to programming and safety issue known by Honda. One of the six fuel injectors failed according to the fault codes at the dealer. I have reached out to Honda and they won't even acknowledge the safety issue nor are they willing to reimburse the cost of the emergency safety repair caused by the vehicle going into limp mode. They won't put anything in writing nor will they consent to any recorded calls. I have reached out to Brad Ortloff as well and he won't respond. What are they hiding? Why did NHTSA allow Honda to get away with extending the warranty on the fuel injectors for certain Honda Odysseys rather than recalling them? What is the difference between the vehicles that were included? There are numerous vehicles that weren't included that are failing for the exact same reason. I can't get any answers from Honda. They just say they are not licensed techs. Brad Ortloff won't respond. Why is NHTSA allowing Honda to put citizen's safety at risk? Will someone please investigate this safety issue?

I am reporting American Honda’s ongoing failure to safely remedy critical safety defects and recalls on my 2018 Honda Odyssey (purchased new), resulting in severe vehicle degradation and a life-threatening traffic hazard. The vehicle has been to an authorized dealer over 21 times.SAFETY RECALL NEGLIGENCE & POWERTAIN DAMAGE: At 95k miles, the vehicle displayed active check engine codes P0087 (Low Fuel Pressure), P0420, and P0430. The dealer replaced injectors, but severe fuel issues persisted. The dealer utilized stall tactics, claiming they "could not duplicate" ongoing stalling/hesitation symptoms. When the official fuel pump recall was issued, the bulletin mandated priority service for vehicles actively displaying symptoms. My vehicle met these parameters. However, when I attempted to get the recall performed at 111k and 120k miles, the dealer denied service due to part shortages, instructing me to drive the vehicle until it "completely broke down." Because Honda failed to supply recall parts to a symptomatic vehicle, I was forced to drive it a defective car for an additional 46,000 miles. A replacement pump was installed at 166k miles, but the prolonged forced operation directly caused the high pressure pump to fail and raw fuel to melt both catalytic converters. The dealer issued a $6,000 repair estimate for damage engineered entirely by Honda's recall delays.LIFE-THREATENING TCM FAILURE: One day after a related service visit, the Transmission Control Module suffered a catastrophic electrical failure. The engine completely shut off without warning while I was actively facing four lanes of oncoming traffic, creating an immediate, severe collision risk.BROKEN SLIDING DOORS: The power sliding doors failed under 12 months of ownership. Despite 7+ repair attempts, they remain broken, posing a severe structural/occupant safety hazard. Requests for trade-in intervention since 60k miles were systematically ignored.

My vehicle has experienced repeated unexpected engine shutdown/no-start events, creating a significant safety hazard. The engine has unexpectedly shut off or failed to restart while stopped in traffic and while entering traffic, resulting in a sudden loss of propulsion. On one occasion, the vehicle would not restart for approximately one minute. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Honda dealership, and the starter was replaced under warranty in July 2025. The repair did not correct the problem. Since that repair, the same failure has occurred multiple additional times. The issue has now occurred at least six times over approximately one year. Because the condition is intermittent, the dealership has not permanently identified the root cause. The vehicle is currently being returned to the dealership for further diagnosis, and I have requested that the matter be escalated to Honda Technical Assistance (Tech Line) and Honda Engineering. This defect creates a serious safety concern because the vehicle can unexpectedly lose power while in or entering traffic, increasing the risk of a collision. There were no consistent warning lights or messages before the failures, and the condition occurs intermittently without warning. The vehicle remains available for inspection.

Back in the fall/winner of 2024 (could have been 2025) my Honda Odyssey had a recall for a low pressure fuel pump. However, Honda and many other dealers were dealing with hundreds of thousands of recalls, and we’re only recalling the vehicles with actual symptoms. My vehicle was hesitating and experiencing sudden loss of power during acceleration therefore Honda agreed to repair my vehicle. Everything seemed to work fine after that with no issues, but approximately three months later, I was having issues with my vehicle and brought it into my Mechanic, to find out that my high-pressure fuel pump was not working properly. Upon further investigation, I found out that a bad low-pressure fuel pump starves the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) of required volume. This causes the HPFP to work far beyond its design limits to build pressure, leading to cavitation (vapor bubbles damaging internal components), overheating, and premature mechanical wear from metal-on-metal friction. When I dug a little deeper, I found out that many Honda owners were dealing with failing high-pressure fuel pumps after having their low pressure fuel pump recall repairs completed. Many in which were in a similar timeframe to mine. Honda offered me no good merit assistance and stated that unfortunately, I would be liable for the entire cost of the repair. It is more than obvious that the failing of my low pressure fuel pump impacted the performance and workload of my high-pressure fuel pump, causing it to fail, which I believe Honda should be liable for replacing. Please look further into this matter to help others like me that had their low pressure fuel pump recall performed, and shortly after needed to replace their high-pressure fuel pump at their own costly expense.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. An independent mechanic was contacted. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,150.

The van suddenly died, thankfully on a lower traffic neighborhood road. It would not start and we had it towed to the dealership. Upon troubleshooting, the "low pressure" fuel pump was bad. This resulted in a $1,500 repair for a vehicle only 5 years old. Thankfully this did not happen on the highway, but this is dangerous and should not happen on a car only 5 years old and well maintained.

Our 2025 Honda Odyssey has now experienced three failures for the same defect, including two starter replacements within two weeks, without resolution. The most recent repair, overseen by Honda Tech Line, happened after the vehicle died June 2 while in traffic and it had to be towed to the local dealership using our insurance. On June 15 the vehicle died again, just five days after I picked it up with assurance that this issue was resolved, and it is was towed back to the dealership by Honda Towing. The repeated part swaps, without root‑cause diagnosis, clearly have not resolved the issue and have left us with a one‑year‑old vehicle that is unreliable and unsafe to operate. My minivan has failed in the middle lane of a major road while idling at a stoplight twice and in a parking lot once. All incidents were within 15 minutes of driving and 5 miles from my home. This is a critical safety defect and the repeated failures place this vehicle within the criteria that may qualify under Kentucky’s lemon law. We have not made that claim yet, but we are formally documenting the repair history and escalation. ———- -Starter failed and was replaced twice. This could have something to do with the auto start/idle system. -our one year old van is unsafe and unreliable. It died near a major intersection while idling at a stop light. I was in the middle lane and it wouldn’t restart for 5 minutes. I was very afraid my children and I would be rear ended. -the dealership has confirmed the problem, but they not been able to recreate the scenario despite it happening on 3 separate occasions. -Honda Tech Line has been directing the local dealer what to do after the first starter replacement failed.
