Owners have filed 152 complaints
about the 2024 Honda Odyssey with NHTSA between 2023 and 2026.
The largest single group is the electrical system.
Across this model's run it ranks 28 of 32 worst.
The letter says how bad. This says what kind — whether this year drew
an unusual number of complaints, unusually dangerous
ones, or failures that arrived unusually early.
The dashed ring is 50 — the national norm. Further out is worse.

Vehicle Safety Complaint – Automatic Sliding Door Injury to Child To the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am submitting this complaint to report what I believe may be a serious safety defect involving the automatic sliding door on my Honda vehicle. On June 9 at approximately 5:00 p.m., while the vehicle was parked in a residential driveway, the automatic sliding door severely injured my [XXX] son. He had unbuckled himself from his car seat and slid out of the vehicle as the automatic sliding door was closing. I witnessed the entire incident. As the door closed, his entire hand, as well as the skin on his leg, became trapped in the door. The automatic sliding door did not stop or reverse after encountering his hand and leg. Because the door is automatic, I was unable to immediately release him and had to wait for it to reopen before I could free him. Those moments felt incredibly long while my son was trapped and screaming in pain. When I was finally able to remove him from the door, his hand was severely injured, visibly deformed, and had significant swelling almost immediately after the incident. To my knowledge, nothing obstructed the normal operation of the door, and the automatic sliding door was being used in its normal operating mode. The fact that the door did not stop or reverse after trapping my son's hand is the primary reason I am submitting this complaint. Immediately after the accident, I took my son to an urgent care facility. The providers there instructed us to seek immediate evaluation by a pediatric orthopedic specialist, and we went directly to a pediatric orthopedist. He was diagnosed with a broken hand. This injury has resulted in medical expenses, significant emotional trauma for our family, and a complete loss of confidence in the safety of this vehicle. I purchased this Honda because I have three young children, including [XXX] twins. I chose this vehicle because I believed its safety and convenience feat INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION A

Yesterday (8/21/2026) my husband took this vehicle in for a routine oil change and upon the 100 point inspection was informed there was an oil leak somewhere from the engine. This vehicle is barely 2 years old and barely at 30,000 miles. There were 0 signs of a leak somewhere we had no idea. They completed diagnostics and determined it was the axle seal. Thankfully this was covered under warranty but their master mechanic shared with my husband that this is a very well known issue with the 2024 models and the fix is using the newer manufacturing parts. Again, there were no visible signs of a leak, there were no vehicle computer warnings of an issue other than the oil life alerts that are programmed.

The speakers make a popping and crackling noise that is repeated, in a mid tone - high tone - low tone noise pattern, when the radio is on or off. It begins when the engine is turned on. It also occurs in standby/engine is not on/radio is on mode or in standby/engine is not on/radio is not on. The popping/crackling occurs whether the radio is on or not, and the radio can be heard along with the popping and crackling noise. I am guessing it is similar to the recall 23V-431, but this van VIN number does not have any recalls associated with it yet. Restarting the radio, resetting the radio, etc does not alleviate the issue. Also, the cabin camera is not working, says "problem with camera" and displays "loading" with the moving circular icon. The display remains dark for the cabin camera, and rear entertainment screen is also not accessible. Cannot recall any large bumps in the road, no collisions with anything. If the design of the cables has not changed, then the recall needs to cover all VINS manufactured with the same wire assemblies and procedures, including all future VINS, as this problem is clearly repeatable. The customer should not bear the burden to fix an issue that has been deemed an issue in prior year models, with no changes to the design or assembly procedure to the related components.

After driving for some time, idle stop/start wouldn't work properly and cut the engine off when idling. I would have to turn the car, open my door, and try to restart the car. It also occurs after parking, turning off the car and less than 10-15min attempt to restart. Most of the time, it'll start after 1 or 2 attempts. Except today 07/31/2026, I got home and parked. 2024 Honda Odyssey with only 24K miles has a leak in the tailgate from bad welding in the body that is gathering water in the trunk. Safety isn’t at risk but I would say that the corrosion to any electrical items are at risk which will put me and my family and others at risk of something failing. Yes the problem has been reproduced and it’s a common thread on the internet. We will be taking it to the dealership to inspect since it’s still under warranty. My minivan has had repeated electrical and safety-related failures since shortly after it was leased. The vehicle has died or failed to start five times, including multiple tow events. The first battery failure happened shortly after delivery, but we thought a light may have been left on and did not know to bring it in. The problem continued. The dealer has replaced the battery, recharged the battery, replaced the alternator, and later found an excessive parasitic draw, but the electrical problems have continued. The failures affect more than starting. The sliding doors have failed 30+ times by refusing to close and acting like something is blocking them when nothing is there. This creates a safety concern because passengers may not be able to safely enter, exit, or secure the vehicle. The instrument cluster has gone black on startup in Park about 10 times and has also blacked out or faulted while in use. A brake failure warning light appeared once. The backup camera intermittently dims so badly that I cannot see behind the vehicle while reversing. A service advisor observed this issue, but the technician could not reproduce it during inspection. The DVD/interior electronics, USB charging, and wireless phone charger have also failed. The power tailgate/trunk malfunctioned repeatedly before repair, including problems opening or closing and clicking. The front driver and passenger windows also do not roll down smoothly. The front window still shakes or drags even after two repair attempts. The vehicle has been inspected by authorized service centers and is available for inspection upon request. The exact root cause is unknown, but based on the repeated dead battery, charging, parasitic draw, door, display, camera, brake warning, interior electronics, and power window failures, the pattern appears consistent with an unresolved electrical or charging-system defect.

My 2024 Honda Odyssey has repeatedly failed to restart after the Auto Idle Stop system shuts the engine off at a red light. When I release the brake or press the accelerator, the engine does not restart as it should. The vehicle then shifts into Park or instructs me to place it in Park, and it is difficult to restart using the start button. This has left the vehicle disabled in an active traffic lane and creates a serious risk of being struck by another vehicle. I have been stuck at a red light with people honking at me and haven't been able to start the car for up to a minute. The problem is intermittent, and I do not know whether it is caused by the engine, electrical system, battery, starter, software, or power train. The Start/Stop function on the Honda Odyssey failed to re-start the vehicle after it was stopped at a traffic signal. The vehicle gave no advance notice of the issue. The vehicle defaulted the transmission into the "Park" position, however the electronics (radio, windows, etc.) all operated as normal. Simply pushing the ignition "On/Off" would do nothing and would NOT turn off the electronics. I had to press and hold the "On/Off" ( similar to a Ctl+Alt+"Delete") to hard shut off the vehicle entirely. I then had to place the key fob physically on the "On/Off" button to restart the vehicle. This is a significant safety concern being at a dead stop at a stoplight that may be green. We have had our van to the Honda dealer twice now within 3 weeks for the same issue. They cannot get it to duplicate any issues. The original diagnosis was that we had a loose ground connection at the battery. The battery, alternator, and starter were all diagnosed as in perfect working order. The tech tightened the loose ground, but the issue has not been resolved. There were zero warnings that there was an issue with the start/stop function.

The problem is intermittent, and I do not know whether it is caused by the engine, electrical system, battery, starter, software, or power train. The Auto Idle Stop system should not shut the engine off if the vehicle may be unable to restart.
NHTSA complaint #11750375 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
