FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

This 2025 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy is a “Top of the Line” model loaded with automatic gadgetry that is NOT ready for Prime Time or any roadway. It is unsafe for the following reasons: Problems appear to be software up-date related; the software updates way too often via overnight web connection. These updates not only change existing status of mundane systems (hatch or doors unlocking opening, etc.); these updates appear to insert bugs into the operating system which then affects the safety of automated vehicle systems which then create unsafe driving conditions on roads. The biggest safety concern is with Hyundai’s “Smart Cruise Control” system. When a driver chooses a set speed they want to follow, here is what happens often: The Hyundai Smart Cruise Control is turned on and a driver “attempts” to index to the desired speed. Once this speed is actually attained all is good. IF the posted road speed limit increases from 25 MPH to 40 MPH the driver has 2 choices, hold the speed increase button in for 3 seconds for a 5 MPH bump up OR press the button quickly for 1 MPH bump ups. Instead, here is what happens OFTEN, a 3 second hold jumps the speed to 65 MPH desired speed! Or, a quick bump jumps to 50 MPH desired speed! It is random and sporadic to what actually happens, so a driver must pay attention and cancel cruise control quickly, then get things back to normal and begin over. All this occurs while moving on a roadway at speed, hence UNSAFE biggly! Also, what happens, these vehicles front view camera read the posted speed limit (on a street-side sign) and “automatically” sets the posted speed into the Hyundai “Smart Cruise Control”. It has upped this SUV’s speed to 95 MPH and 75 MPH automatically! The driver needs to be attentive to what the automated “Smart Cruise Control” systems are actually doing; all while driving on busy roadways! This is VERY UNSAFE! I believe web software updates are creating these problems - STOP updates immediately.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING

Component/system, available for inspection? Rear visibility system — AVN head unit's processing of the rear camera image. On shift to reverse, screen flickers, shows blinking green, or no rear image. Vehicle available for inspection. Original camera was replaced Jan 2026 and retained by the dealer, not returned. Safety risk? Daily driver used for school pickup. Failure is warm-restart dependent — engine running, repeated shifts into reverse — which is exactly the pickup-line condition. Rear visibility is lost while children move behind the vehicle. System works reliably only after 25+ minutes shut off. Reproduced/confirmed by a dealer? Yes. Crain Hyundai of Bentonville, RO H3CS1330630, 1/13/26. Camera replaced; failure persisted. Same RO then states the head unit "IS GETTING TOO HOT" and needs replacement. No further diagnosis performed. Inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance? Not directly. Hyundai Motor America reviewed (Cases 42288449 / 42326908 / 42619220) but relied solely on dealer diagnosis and confirmed in writing 6/22/26 that it does not audit dealer measurements. No police or insurance involvement. Warning lamps/symptoms, first appearance? First reported by my wife (primary driver) in June 2025; not reproducible on demand for some time, consistent with the intermittent warm-restart pattern later documented. No warning lamps, no DTCs in any accessible module. Only symptom is the display failure itself. 60+ structured tests logged 2/2–2/9/26 documenting the warm-restart pattern. Mileage 63,679 at service. Unresolved as of 8/3/26.

2022 Hyundai Palisade Valrico, FL Crash

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

On 7/22/26 at about 5:15pm, I was operating my vehicle, a 2022 Hyundai Palisade in the Parking lot of Publix Supermarket at Valrico Commons and was attempting to enter a parking space. I made a right from the parking thruway to enter a right parking space. I felt one of the right wheels graze the pedestrian sidewalk as I was driving about 5 miles per hour, next thing the vehicle lunged forward out of control and though I tried applying the brakes, the brakes would not respond. As a result, my vehicle ending up hitting a parking pole, which resulted in two vehicles parked opposite to me being hit by the pole. There was no one in the parked vehicles.

LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST

When using "Lane Keeping Assistance" the vehicle pulls slightly to the right and continues correcting itself creating a snake like pattern. This is unsettling and other vehicles that I own do not have this pattern including the same model from previous years. This feature is design for safety, however when "Lane Keeping Assistance" in operation the pulling to the right looks like you are going into the other lane then correct's itself and repeats not giving the feel of safety. I have taken it do the dealer and file a report to hyundai both parties had stated they cannot do anything without an error code. I have seen other customers complain about this issue with my make/model. Please help correct this issue. Thank you

2026 Hyundai Palisade Riviera Beach, FL

LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST

I am reporting multiple recurring safety concerns with my 2026 Hyundai Palisade. Loss of acceleration: Under heavy throttle, the engine revs to approximately 5,000 RPM but the vehicle does not accelerate as expected. This has occurred repeatedly and appears more likely after the vehicle reaches normal operating temperature. During one incident on the highway, I needed to accelerate quickly to avoid surrounding traffic, but the vehicle did not respond as expected, creating a potential safety risk. An authorized Hyundai dealership inspected the vehicle and reset the transmission adaptive values, but the condition remains. Lane Keeping Assistance: The Lane Keeping Assistance system consistently positions the vehicle toward the left side of the lane instead of properly centering it. The issue has been reported to the dealer, but the condition remains unresolved. Power second-row seat: The power second-row captain’s chair can continue moving while folding, creating a hand-crush hazard if a person’s hand is in the path of the seat. It also interferes with proper third-row seat operation. This issue has been reported to the dealer and remains unresolved. These issues have been reported to Hyundai and remain unresolved after dealer inspections. The vehicle is available for inspection, and I have documentation and video evidence of the acceleration concern.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I own a 2022 Hyundai Palisade SEL. On XXX, while driving at the intersection of [XXX] and [XXX] in [XXX], the engine abruptly lost power, causing a sudden loss of engine power while the vehicle was in motion. This is my family's primary vehicle, and my wife and children were in the car during this incident. On XXX, I brought the vehicle to Courtesy Hyundai in [XXX]. The dealer found essentially no oil in the engine despite my keeping up with scheduled oil changes. The dealer replaced the oil and performed a software update described on the repair order as "9C9 C ECU SW UPDATE EMISSIONS IMPRV 26-01-010H," and I was instructed to return after 1,000 miles for an oil-level recheck. At that recheck, the dealer's service assistant reported the oil was full. On XXX, before a planned family road trip, I returned the vehicle for another check. The service department found the engine was two quarts low — this was only 4,000 miles after the oil service on April 10, 2026. The dealer stated they requested an oil consumption test but that Hyundai denied the request. Per the dealer's instructions, I returned again after another 1,000 miles, and the engine was one quart low. I am filing this complaint because I believe the excessive oil consumption and the resulting loss of engine power represent a safety defect that has not been remedied. An engine that abruptly loses power while driving creates a serious hazard, including loss of power steering and reduced braking assist, and I am concerned for my family's safety while this condition remains unresolved. 2021 Hyundai Palisade Las Vegas, NV Crash 1 injured

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

On XXX, after leaving an appointment at an office building, I returned to my vehicle and noticed that the driver’s seat recline function was not working properly. The seat was already pushed forward to its highest position and would not recline further. I was still able to enter and operate the vehicle somewhat but remained parked. I reviewed Hyundai resources to see whether there was an update or known issue related to the seat concern. When I could not resolve the issue through available resources, I contacted the Hyundai dealership in Henderson. I provided my information and explained that the driver’s seat recline function was not working. I was transferred to Hyundai Customer Service. During that call, I explained that I was approximately 15 minutes away from the dealership and requested repair of the issue regardless of warranty status because I considered it a safety concern. This never happened before at all. While I was speaking with the Hyundai Customer Service representative, the driver’s seat moved again unexpectedly. As a result, I moved forward toward the steering wheel area. After that movement, the vehicle rolled or moved forward and contacted the rear of another vehicle. After the collision, the driver’s seat recline function still was not operating properly. I documented the condition with video evidence, and two witnesses observed the vehicle and the seat condition after the collision. When I contacted Hyundai, I was very upset to learn that the call I had with the customer service representative was not documented anywhere. Also, no one contacted me although I was in distress, crying, and in the accident and the customer service representative knew this. There was no aid or phone call follow ups to me by Hyundai customer care at all. Hyundai Motor America opened a case investigation and instructed me not to perform repairs at this time so the vehicle could be preserved for inspection. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Stopped at the gas pump and filled up. When I went to leave all dash lights were lit up and car wouldn’t move. Brakes were locked. I tried restarting and restarting. Brakes would lock up when I tried to move, either direction. I finally gases it enough that it screeched the tires to move it from in front of the gas pump.

2022 Hyundai Palisade Oakton, VA

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS

Randomly but frequently, my car would turn off when coming to a stop and with the auto shut off - but the full car would turn off and to move, I would need to press the ignition to turn back on and drive. This even occurred while accelerating onto a highway. I took this to the shop and after 6 months of back and forth and paying for fuel injectors they 'repaired' it. Now, my car felt heavy with the auto turn off but the vehicle stayed on. The next day, while trying to accelerate up a hill on a highway, the RPM would rev but the car would not shift and accelerate. Additionally, I am getting 'parking sensor error or blockage' but they lines and sensors are all working.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

1) Front collision sign keep coming up. 2) Cruise control does not function. Dealer claims it's wear and tear and maybe due to bumper loose. Claims maybe if someone backed up into our bumper making it loose. 3) Display on the front windshield is distorted, which is also camera related. 4) Paint on fender is peeling and they call that also wear and tear. Picture attached showing paint coming off Overall Hyundai palisade claims nothing is part of warranty. Everything they are claiming as wear and tear. It's not even 5 years since I bought this car and nothing is covered under warranty.

2020 Hyundai Palisade Bowie, MD

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

On XXX I took my vehicle to Ourisman Hyundai of Bowie because my engine light was on. That same day the Service Adviser (Edson XXX) informed me that the engine was burning oil excessively. They performed an oil change and replaced engine oil gasket and asked me to return after driving 1000 miles. Mileage at the time was 103,380. I return on XXX, mileage was 104,580. [XXX] informed me that vehicle failed oil consumption test. He submitted request for engine replacement. On 11/25/2025 I returned to dealer because engine light came on again, and still no approval for engine replacement. I was informed that Hyundai approved combustion chamber cleaning. The service was complete four days later. However, it did not fix the problem. The engine excessive oil burn still happens as of this report. 2026 Hyundai Palisade Dover, DE

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

It appears there is an ongoing issue with the Driver's Assistance. More specifically with automatic braking regarding forward collision. On 4 separate occasions, the vehicle has gone haywire with several alarms and icons going off at once and then sudden braking in the middle of the road before I have even realized what is going on. The issue is the car decided it was time to slam on the brakes right in the middle of the road while I was driving so it was very jarring. I have brought the vehicle to the dealership once and they kept it for 2 days to inspect the problem and could "not reproduce the problem". So they returned the vehicle to me. However, the issue occurred 3 more times after they returned it to me within 3 wks. So, I am dropping it off again for them to keep until they locate the problem now that I believe I have narrowed it down to the Driver's Assistance and forward collision issue. When I disable the driver's assistance/forward collision toggle, there "appears" to solve the issue. I have not had the same problem when that specific toggle is off as of yet. There have been no inspections from a manufacturer rep, police or insurance rep. There were a ton of warning lamps at one time just prior to the automatic braking, some regarding power train, battery, and several others. I have photos.

2020 Hyundai Palisade Bradenton, FL

LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST

"The front view camera (FR_CMR) failed due to an internal control chip defect. The component is available for inspection — it is currently at the dealership. Multiple ADAS safety systems were simultaneously disabled, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and High Beam Assist. This puts both the driver and other road users at risk by removing all active collision prevention and lane keeping systems while driving at highway speeds with no backup warning. The problem has been confirmed by the Hyundai dealership via GDS diagnostic scan showing two DTCs: C160649 (ECU Software Error – Front View Camera) and C180581 (LKAS CAN Signal Error). The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer. Dealer repair order quotes $1,511.87 for camera replacement and calibration. Warning lights for Forward Collision, Driver Attention Warning, and High Beam Assist appeared on the instrument cluster and have remained on continuously. Systems have been disabled since the warning lights first appeared. This is a known internal control chip defect documented in Kia TSB ELE231 (Rev 2, August 2021), covering the identical camera assembly shared across the Hyundai/Kia platform. The same DTCs and same fix — front camera replacement, variant coding, and calibration — are confirmed repaired on other 2020 Palisade Limited vehicles under warranty. Hyundai has not issued a corresponding TSB for the Palisade despite the identical failure mode and shared part. VIN: [XXX] ."
