The contact stated that, while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed during light snowfall and attempting to reduce speeds, the vehicle lost traction. As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle and slid off the roadway, only coming to a complete stop after rolling once down an embankment and colliding with a tree. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a storage facility and deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The driver did not receive immediate medical attention but later transported himself to a chiropractor and was treated for stiffness. Tires: Pirelli 285/40R22. Tires failed: Front passenger + Both -Driver/Passenger tires. Failures did not occur concurrently. I am writing to report significant issues with the Pirelli tires on my vehicle, raising serious safety concerns. (Usage, two tires - 11 months / 1 tire - 4 months) Firstly, the front passenger tire has developed noticeable bumps on the sidewall near the rim. Notably, these tires have never encountered foreign objects or rough terrain that could have caused this damage. The bulges indicate potential internal damage, compromising the tire's structural integrity and posing a risk while driving. Additionally, the passenger rear tire suffered a catastrophic blowout at 65 mph on Interstate 75. Examination revealed a 10-inch strip had detached from the tire's inner layer. This sudden failure occurred without warning and could have resulted in a severe loss of control, endangering my safety and that of other road users. Similarly, the driver rear tire also blew out at 65 mph on Interstate 10 due to a failed section measuring approximately 6 inches along the contact area. These incidents raise critical concerns about the reliability of these tires, especially at highway speeds. Following these events, my technicians inspected the vehicle and found no other underlying issues, raising further questions about the quality and durability of these tires. Yokohama tornate installed in 2022 plenty of tread left on tire. Driving 20 mph on back road. Driving around a person walking their dog so very slow and rear passenger tire was in the middle of the road. Tire pressure is emptied completely for no reason. Upon inspection found tire blew out at side wall. Large 4-6” crack from mid sidewall to tread. Driving back from beach in Maine. Drove up to Maine from NH then half way back when this happened.

The contact's granddaughter owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Discoverer EnduraMax, Tire Size: P245/65/R17, DOT Number: [XXX] . The contact stated while the driver was driving at 70 MPH, the rear passenger's tire had a blowout. The driver was able to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the residence, where the tire was inspected, and the contact became aware that the tire had blown out at the sidewall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the defective tire was shipped to the manufacturer for inspection. The manufacturer later informed the contact that the tire failure had been caused by a pinhole that gradually deflated the tire until the tire had the blowout; however, the contact stated that the TPMS did not indicate a loss of tire air pressure prior to the blowout, and that the failure had occurred abruptly. The manufacturer offered to partially reimburse the cost of the tire. The contact purchased a new tire from the dealer and replaced the tire himself. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 189,000, and the tire failure mileage was approximately 4,000. The VIN was not available. My vehicle has 22,000 miles on it. The dealer has determined that they are at 4/32 and are wearing prematurely. He also indicated that Jeep (Nielsen Jeep) is aware of this and it is simply unfortunate that all four (4) tires (Michelin Premier LTX, 265/60R18) on my vehicle wore evenly and prematurely. As I indicated to the dealership servicing my vehicle, the tires do not grip in inclement weather and often result in skids, a safety issue especially when my two 12yr olds are in the vehicle with me. Tire warranted at 55,000 miles should not wear prematurely and thus making it unsafe to operate the vehicle.

While driving on a 55 mph 4 lane roadway I experienced a loud "pop" sound followed by rapid rhythmic banging at the passenger rear area of the vehicle. Thinking a tire must have failed I got as far to the right of the roadway and stopped. When the tire was changed it was apparent that the tread delaminated involving about one half of the length of the tread. The tire was not punctured and remained inflated. I was in danger of injury due to the proximity to high speed traffic passing by. I contacted Goodyear, the manufacturer of the tire, and they retrieved the tire for an internal inspection. They denied my claim citing the delamination was caused by "impact causing overdeflection of the tire and a fracture of the steel belt package". There was no impact with any object or defect in the road surface. There is no way the the rear tire could have impacted anything without the front passenger side tire also being involved. The tire was rendered totally unusable as a result. There was no warning nor was there any impact. The tire size is 265/50R20. There is extensive damage to the passenger rear area of my vehicle and the rear passenger door.

Traveling at 55mph on Rt. 264 W. in Virginia Beach, VA the right rear tire "exploded" with no warning whatsoever and sent my vehicle out of control coming very close to impacting vehicles on either side. I regained partial control and got the vehicle onto the shoulder. My family was shaken but o.k. State Police arrived. Upon inspection there was very little left of the tire (I will upload pics). Vehicle was brought to "Discount Tire" where close inspection of the remaining tires showed steel belt protruding from the front right tire. I was amazed. The vehicle had recently passed state inspection and was well within wear limits. I paid to have the (2) obviously failed tires replaced and asked Goodyear Customer Service to pay to replace the remaining (2) - all were bought as a set from Walmart. Goodyear Customer Service refused and now I must pay for the work as no one in their right minds would drive around on the remaining (2).. There's a 50/50 chance they would fail as well! It is my understanding these are not their "top of the line tires", but I must ask when it comes to safety what possible difference can that make? We depend on our government to properly test such basic safety related items that can cause death and damage in a moment to any family. I hope the NHTSA will/does thoroughly investigate all Goodyear tires, but especially these sold primarily at Walmart if I understood correctly. This is an incident that simply should not have occurred and even after the fact of TWO of these tires falling apart on the same vehicle, their corporate headquarters refused any responsibility; financial or otherwise.. not even an apology!

I have 34,000 miles on my keep I am the original owner and my tires have been rotated every 5,000 miles. The tread is cracking on every tire. Tire size is 265/59/20 Fortera hl. I called Goodyear and they will do nothing they say rotting is only warranted for 4 years. How can that be? It’s a 60,000 mile tire. I brought it to Goodyear in Jericho N.Y and was told by Sean there is nothing he could do. I was also in touch with Pamela Pringle from customer support and she never got back to me. It is unsafe to drive on those tires and Goodyear should replace them.
