After coming to a complete stop at an intersection, I looked left-right-left before proceeding across the intersection. At the time I began to cross the intersection my vehicle seemingly did not accelerate as normal, causing my vehicle to be hit on the right driver side panel, spun around, and ripping the entire front end of my car off. Injuries were sustained and the vehicle may be a total loss.

The fuel tank protective shield underneath my vehicle has severely rusted and corroded, with visible perforations forming through the metal (photos attached). This shield protects the fuel tank from road debris and also helps secure the tank to the vehicle. The steel fuel tank shield and mounting cradle assembly on my Land Rover Range Rover (L405) is experiencing catastrophic structural failure due to excessive corrosion. This appears to be a result of galvanic corrosion between the steel cradle and the aluminum chassis components. The corrosion has caused the metal straps and support brackets to rot through completely, compromising the physical security of the fuel tank. This poses an unreasonable safety risk, as the fuel tank is no longer properly supported and is at risk of detaching from the vehicle while in motion. Furthermore, the jagged, rusted edges of the failing shield are in direct contact with the fuel tank, creating a potential puncture hazard and subsequent fire risk. This is a known structural defect within the L405 community, often resulting in immediate vehicle grounding during safety inspections due to the risk of fuel system detachment.

My 2017 Land Rover, Range Rover has rusted fuel tank shields. I have owned this vehicle for seven of its nine years and has been babied. When I brought my Range Rover in for a NTSB MANDATED FACTORY RECALL THEY neglected even noting this issue. Which is a very common issue, I brought my rover into Hennessy Land Rover north atlanta on February 10th 2026. My service advisor was [XXX] . Not only did Hennessy north atlanta REFUSE TO REPAIR THE FEDERALLY MANDATED “SEVERE SAFETY” recall regarding my front suspension (may crack leading to a severe accident) as instructed by the NTSB— BECAUSE “THEY DIDNT HAVE THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL” — BUT IF YOU PAY THE $7000 they charge TO FIX THIS ISSUE , HAVING IT DONE IS NO PROBLEM. THE PARTS MAGICALLY APPEAR 😂 for $7000. As stated, Hennessy did not even address the fuel tank cover issue. THEY DID NOT BRING IT UP The reason this problem occurs is because of a process called galvanic corrosion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for an unrelated repair, the mechanic discovered that the underbody shield located underneath the vehicle to protect the fuel tank had deteriorated severely, exposing the fuel tank. The shield was the original part and functioned as a skid plate for the undercarriage; however, due to the corrosion, the fuel tank was no longer protected. The dealer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000.

After an inspection underneath the car, the fuel tank is at risk of falling off because the cover that holds it is completely rusted. It is very dangerous to drive like this after the tank is filled with fuel and the weight of the tank increases without knowing what can support it.

Driving down the road and the vehicle lost all fuel pressure and engine shut off in the middle of the road. Turns out to be a catastrophic Bosch CP4 failure. Thankfully I was not on the highway otherwise this likely would've caused an accident because besides steering and brakes i had no way to get the car out of the road and probably wouldn't have made it to the shoulder on the 5 lane highway. My safety was put at risk by having to sit on a busy road unable to move the car hoping no one came up and hit me. The issue has been confirmed by my independent service center. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or anyone else besides my mechanic. The battery light and check engine light came on approximately 2 seconds before the car died in the road. Other than than that no symptoms

This era of Land Rover products used an inferior metal for the fuel tank shield where they corrode prematurely. The shield has almost completely disintegrated where it no longer will support the fuel tank. If the fuel tank falls, it will come in direct contact with the driveshaft and destroy the tank leading to a massive fuel leak and subsequent fire. My tank is currently held up with ratchet straps to avoid this happening. With the exception of the fuel tank shield, every other undercarriage component is rust/corrosion free.

I am filing this complaint regarding my 2020 Range Rover Full Size Plug-In Hybrid, which has been inoperable for over three months due to ongoing fault codes and software-related issues. The vehicle has been at an authorized Land Rover dealer for an extended period. The dealer has confirmed they are unable to proceed without direction or software updates from Jaguar Land Rover corporate engineering. For the last 60+ days, the issue has been repeatedly escalated between the dealer and corporate engineering with no actionable resolution, no repair authorization, and no clear timeline provided. I have even reached out customer relationship center file customer compliant which has not been responded to by LRNA/HQ. My case number is CASE:[XXX] Vehicle Background: •Vehicle would not charge beyond 80%. I scheduled an appointment with the local dealers to inspect. LR: Identified a coolant issue within the high voltage system. oRepair: We were able to get covered by LR per a service bulletin; however, the repair process took over a month. •November Subsequent issue: Check engine light appeared along with a “rotten egg” smell after charging. I returned the vehicle to the dealership. oRepair: LR identified power distribution box resistor out of target range with resistance causing over-charging. This took a month and believe a software issue may have caused this as well as cannot happen on non-plug in. oReplacement of both the power distribution box and battery cost $1,471. •December: Picked up the car and parked it for a week while out of town. The first week back I drove to work and the check engine light came on again. I have not yet received the vehicle back and it continues to throw powertrain codes. The metal gas tank shroud (cover) on the bottom of the car is completed rotted away and there is no longer anything protecting the gas tank from rupture. This was brought to my attention by an automotive service center as well as my own visual inspection. My understanding this shroud not only protects the tank but also helps support it to the car.
