2021 Nissan Rogue — VIN [XXX]. The electric power steering warning light illuminated while driving. The steering wheel became extremely stiff and difficult to turn, causing a significant increase in steering effort. This appears to be a sudden loss of power steering assist. I am concerned about loss of steering control and believe this may be a safety defect. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On Friday 1/16/26 @ 9 am, my daughter was backing out her parking space to go to school. As she barely drove forward, the car just suddenly stopped. She got the apartment maintenance guy to take a look, and he said the steering rods were broken and the car needs to be tow. It was inside the parking lot and there was no major impact for it to be broken. Its a 2023 Rogue with only 45200 mileage on it, so the rods should last longer then that. AAA towed the vehicle to Nissan dealership and dealership confirmed it was the inner/outer rod that needs to be replace. Dealership said it was likely due to a hard impact, but there was NO IMPACT at all in the parking lot. Car was sitting at the dealership waiting on parts for almost 3 months to have it repair. It was finally ready on Monday 4/6/26, and we were charge for $2275 and extra for battery that went dead sitting at their dealership for 3 months. This is obviously a safety concern that needs to be investigated. Lucky this happened in a parking lot. If this was on a main street or highway, it will cause a major accident.

I was looking at the fact that this car has 2 recalls for problems that I never bothered to check, but it's better to have everything in order. everything is in order.

I was backing out of a parking garage and I had the steering wheel turned while I was reversing so I could exit the lot. I heard a pop and put the car in drive to move forward and the car would not move. Once I put the car in park and exited the vehicle I could see that the left tire was no longer attached to the steering column and that the tire rod had snapped dislodging the front left tire from the system.

The tires seemed to be faulty from the date of purchase of the vehicle. Within 3 weeks of ownership I had to replace one tire, at 6 weeks-repair a flat on another tire, and within 3 months replaced another tire (possibly two, can’t quite recall with all the issues this vehicle has had) and fixed another flat on the existing tires again. To date there are only 27,000 miles on the vehicle and the tires are well past needing replaced. However, they were terrible and extremely unsafe from the beginning. When I had inquired with the dealer, they stated that the manufacturer parts are not always top of the line unfortunately, same response with the battery, and suggested I replace with higher quality. These parts shouldn’t be unsafe or require replacement with safer, higher-quality, or better-performing ones from the manufacturer, especially not in a brand-new vehicle.

My 2023 Nissan Rogue had recorded tread wear from 3 mm to 4 mm of tread left from my maintenance printouts I received from my dealer that started at around 16,000 miles (November 2024) despite having my vehicle serviced at a Nissan Service facility as per the recommended maintenance schedule from Nissan Motors. This was a potentially very dangerous situation with possible snow conditions that are associated with New England Winters. My tires were also rotated on a regular basis as well as per the recommended maintenance schedule for my 2023 Nissan Rogue. The tires that came with my car orignally were the Dunlop GrandTrek. I waited as long as I could to purchase a new set of tires because they were costly and I didn't have the money. My total bill came out to around $1,300 which included a recommended four wheel drive wheel alignment.

Car had scheduled routine maintenance done on February 15, 2025 where tires were rotated and balanced. About a month later, the rear differential failed. Car only has 87,000 miles on it and was not driven in any excessive manner. Wheel bearings made noise for two days and then the differential failed before car was able to be seen by the repair shop. This is an example of a critical flaw in the differential and is extremely dangerous because it could have seized up while I was driving my daughter to preschool. Vehicle has inspection report from two different repair shops (one being the dealer) confirming failure of rear differential. No warning lamps, messages, or othe symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, only two days of noisy wheel bearings indicating they needed replacement. Nissan issued service bulletin NTB10-0291 regarding this problem but no recall has been ordered. When can I expect a recall?

I have a 2021 Nissan Rogue and have had numerous problems with it since the purchase. My current problem is that the back hatch/trunk is leaking when it rains, water is coming through. The back hatch/trunk will also open and not stay open, it begins to automatically close unless you press the button so it will not close on you. The warning lights have also began coming on again stating that driving assistance is not available. I also lose power to the display screen on the inside and it goes dark. The nissan place where I live is aware and I have an appointment on Tuesday of this month. I have asked them in the past about recalls on my vehicle and they state that my vehicle has no recalls, I have also checked the site and it states my VIN is not included in the recall even though I feel like I have had so many problems with this car. In the past, I have already had to have my alternator replaced and a new battery. This is my first experience owning a Nissan, in the past I had a toyota and in the future I will go back to a toyota. I will not own another Nissan, my experience has not been a good one with this vehicle.

At March 23rd, 2024, we have oil change on the car. The service sales came back to tell us that the front lower control arms' bushing is torn and needed repair immediately. Without repairing them, the wheels may disengage from the car. So we have them replaced, since losing the wheels during driving will cost our lives. This is for our safety. What can we do???!!! On conversation with the sales, he said this is a common phenomenon. Our problem on this is that, all the cars that we have owned, we never had the issue. This is the first time. Is this a common occurrence? We are not sure. And we simply can not understand why eight months ago during another oil change, this issue was not detected?! Could this be a faulty component installed on the car, we questioned? We also contacted Nissan consumer affairs. Their specialist insisted our car is out of warranty. There is nothing they can do. Is this a responsible car manufacturer's response? At least, they should look in the issue and gave us a satisfying answer, we believed. Anyway, please look into this. On the parts that were replaced, dealership has them. We don't have them in our hand.Sorry about this. All and all, please look into the issue. We just want other Rogue owners spared of the issue! Thank you for reading this and have a great day!

The shoulder strap cuts across my neck. While I'm driving I have to take one hand off the steering wheel to push it down, only to have it slide right back up across my neck. Every time I hit a bump or pot hole, the strap cuts into my neck. There will be a serious injury if I'm in an accident. Also, the suspension is so bad on this car that I feel every bump, and pot hole, and my head keeps hitting the headset. I was told the headset cannot be adjusted. My passenger has long legs. The passenger seat will not go back any further so he sits with legs bent in cramped position. The visor when pulled down is right in my eyes. If I brake suddenly and my head goes forward, it hits my eyes. I will be seriously injured if in a car accident. On turns, especially if there's even a little water, the back wheels of this car skid.

Right rear wheel bearing was bad. I was told at 66,000 miles, this was premature. This started approximately 3 weeks ago and was corrected today. I had to take it to two places before a diagnosis was made for loud driving noise and slight vibration. The wheel bearing could have locked up and caused a severe incident.

On 12/17/2022 I was driving 45 mph down a straight road. Suddenly the vehicle swerved left into oncoming traffic (so I was face to face with another vehicle), then swerved right very hard and then left again. My car was its two left tires only for a few seconds during this time. After it swerved across the lane 3 times, I was able to control the steering wheel again. I just missed the car in the opposing lane and my car was also heading towards a telephone poll before I regained the ability to control the car again. During this incident my steering wheel was straight the whole time and did not control the vehicle. I did not hit the brakes or acceleration for fear of a rollover because it was swerving so hard. There were no warning lights on the dashboard during this time or after the incident. About 3 minutes before this incident occurred, my car did something similar and swerved hard to the right while the steering wheel was straight and I did not have control of the steering for a few seconds. Mechanics in the area were called and mentioned that it could be the steering motor that could be failing but were unable to look at the vehicle. I had a mechanic come to my house and he said he could not find a error code on my vehicle's system. The car has not been driven since the incident.
