AIR BAGS

Recently bought this car used with about 105,000 miles and I noticed that the air bag light comes on and stays on. Previous owner said it had always been an issue, but he was told that it would cost over $5000 to fix. He declined the repair. Since I bought it used I took it to the Nissan dealership for a diagnostic and complete lookover. I also asked if there was any recalls on that air bag light and was informed that there was none. I searched myself on your website and got the same information, but decided to check the complaints to see if anyone else had reported the same issue. I did find several that matched the description of my issue. This is a major safety concern as it would be difficult to trust whether or not driver and/or passenger would be protected in the event of an accident. So, why is this not a national recall for this vehicle????? I'm sure there would be a lot more complaints filed if more people knew that your services and information were available. I appreciate your consideration in making this a national concern for all drivers of the 2015 Nissan Rogue

AIR BAGS

Date of Incident: [XXX] On [XXX], my sister and I traveled from Maryland to Newport News, Virginia, to celebrate with family. Upon returning home to Maryland, my sister attempted to fasten her front passenger seat belt but was unable to do so. I went around to the passenger side of the vehicle to assist her, but I was also unable to properly secure the seat belt. Because I have a strict safety rule requiring all passengers to wear their seat belts, I instructed my sister to move to the back seat so that she could travel safely. The following day, I took my vehicle to Auto Obsessions, located at 20 Southway, Greenbelt, MD 20770, for an inspection. After inspecting the vehicle, the mechanic informed me that the passenger-side seat belt was locked in place as though the vehicle had been involved in a head-on collision. I was advised that the seat belt retractor needed to be replaced. The mechanic sent a link to my phone so that I could order the replacement part through eBay. I subsequently ordered the part. Once it was delivered, I planned to schedule an appointment with the mechanic to have the replacement installed. While investigating the problem, I learned that certain Nissan Rogue models from multiple model years have been subject to safety recalls involving the Occupant Classification System (OCS) and airbag control units, including issues that can cause the airbag warning light to illuminate. Because of the seriousness of the safety issue I was experiencing, I contacted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 888-327-4236. I spoke with a NHTSA representative and explained what had occurred. I provided my vehicle identification number (VIN). The representative informed me that, although there was a recall involving my vehicle's year and model, my particular VIN was not included in the recall. I was advised to contact Nissan directly and ask whether Nissan would provide a "goodwill" assistance offer: INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FO

2022 Nissan Rogue Somerset, NJ Fire

AIR BAGS

I was driving when I was pulled over by a police officer for speeding I was going 5 over the speed limit (Speed limit was 65). As the officer approached my vehicle, he noticed flames coming from the engine compartment before I was aware there was any issue. He immediately instructed me to exit the vehicle for my safety. After I got out, the officer attempted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but the flames continued to spread despite his efforts. The fire quickly intensified, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. Emergency responders were called to the scene to extinguish the fire, but by the time the fire was under control, the vehicle had sustained severe fire damage and was no longer operable.

2008 Nissan Rogue Port Orchard, WA

AIR BAGS

I have a 2008 Nissan Rogue. The air bag light came on, blinking red around 3 weeks ago. It has been red blinking continuously whenever the vehicle is on since then. I brought the car to my local auto repair shop to check it. They hooked up to it and discovered the issue. They said the code was B1018 (OCS), air bag... They gave me a recall notice that detailed the issue, and said that the dealership would repair this for free. The NHTSA #/Campaign ID# says it includes B8242 (Murano, Rogue, 350Z). I made an appointment at my local Nissan Dealership (Advantage Nissan in Bremerton, WA), and when I went in there they said there are no open recalls and I spent FIVE hours in there. They said they tested passenger side seat airbags and they do NOT work, but here are two options... one is not an option, because we didn't find a whole new seat, but we found another option- take the airbag system out of a seat and put it in yours for $884.98. That's your option. You pay. (Or a new seat would be over $5000, but we can't find one because they don't make them anymore.) I purchased this vehicle in 2019. I haven't gotten any notices about this. This is a SAFETY issue. I can not drive with a passenger in the car. The cost of this issue should be covered- it was a viable recall.

2014 Nissan Rogue Carrollton, GA

AIR BAGS

While driving, I swerved slightly to avoid a dog and went into a shallow ditch less than one foot deep. There was no collision, no structural damage, and no repairs needed to the vehicle. Despite the extremely minor impact, both airbags deployed unexpectedly. This deployment was violent and occurred without a qualifying crash. I believe this indicates a faulty airbag sensor, airbag control module malfunction, or other defect in the airbag system.

2023 Nissan Rogue Ringwood, NJ

AIR BAGS

The passenger side roof is leaking water. It’s leaks through the roof and through the headliner. The water leaks onto the passenger curtain airbag before it leaks onto the headliner. It’s on the pass side between the sunroof and the passenger door of the car and on the A pillar. Worried it will affect airbag or make the roof moldy. It’s hard to see in photos but easy to see in person

2016 Nissan Rogue Washington, UT

AIR BAGS

My vehicle is included in the correct year range and shows the same symptoms as NHTSA ID Number: 16V911000. The airbag light is also on and I am worried that it will not operate properly in an accident. I contacted the local Nissan Dealer and they said there were no recalls on this vehicle. They also told me that no recalls had been completed on my vehicle. I am concerned that they either missed some VINs in the recall or that they have incorrect information. Nissan was not willing to help, I also contacted their Consumer Affairs.

NHTSA complaint #11732445 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2021 Nissan Rogue Port St Lucie, FL

AIR BAGS

A water intrusion issue developed originating from the roof/moonroof area of the vehicle. The problem was initially diagnosed by an authorized dealership as a failure in the moonroof drain system, and the drain tubes were replaced. The repair was completed and marked as resolved. However, the leak continued after the repair. Upon further inspection, the dealership identified the source of the leak as the moonroof rubber seal and recommended replacement of the seal assembly. Water intrusion is entering the headliner and traveling into the upper A-pillar area. This area contains curtain airbag components and associated electrical systems. The presence of moisture in this location raises concern about potential impact to airbag functionality and overall vehicle safety. There were no warning lights or system messages prior to or during the occurrence of this issue. The failure presents as visible water intrusion, including wet headliner material and moisture accumulation near the A-pillar. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by an authorized dealership. The initial repair attempt did not resolve the problem, and the condition remains present. The affected components (drain system and seal area) are available for inspection upon request.

I told the dealership that there were recalls on my car, but because they can’t find it in the system they’re saying that there are no recalls. I did check the NHTSA website and the recalls are still not showing up, but AAA has me down for five recalls. I have all the information on them. I would like the dealership to at least look into them because I don’t feel safe driving my car..
