2025 Nissan Sentra Duluth, GA

VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR

Summary: I am reporting two significant defects on my 2025 Nissan Sentra that pose safety risks. 1. Suspension/Steering: During low-speed maneuvers (approx. 20mph) such as navigating roundabouts, there is a persistent mechanical creaking/squealing noise from the front passenger side. The dealership technician verified the noise but provided a physically impossible diagnosis, claiming "tires were slipping," despite the vehicle being brand new with tires in perfect condition. This suggests a defect in the control arm bushings or strut mounts which affects steering predictability. 2. Power Window/Electrical: The driver-side window produces a loud, piercing screech when operated. More critically, the window switch has experienced intermittent functional failure where it becomes unresponsive. This is a safety hazard as it could prevent emergency egress or cabin ventilation. Manufacturer Response: > Both issues are documented and have been reported to Nissan Consumer Affairs (Case #56515863). However, the manufacturer stated they have "no solution" and directed me to argue with the dealership. No technical specialist has been assigned to inspect these safety-related mechanical and electrical failures. The vehicle is available for inspection.

2026 Nissan Sentra Woodward, OK

VISIBILITY/WIPER

I purchased a new 2026 Nissan Sentra SV with the convenience package and am currently unable to take delivery due to the image on the backup camera being so blurry I am unable to use it. The dealer told me it was a software issue, however, now they are saying the car needs a new camera and they do not have a timeline when they will be in stock. My safety and the safety of others are put at risk due to me not being able to use the backup camera at all.

[XXX] 06/29 637 1). A feature of the Auto Intelligent Headlight feature is not working on 2020 Sentras, all trims. During the daytime (rain or snow) when the windshield wipers are turned on and swish back and forth 4 times, it’s supposed to automatically turn on headlights (which also turns on tail lights so you’re not rear ended). 2). Additionally, when the headlights are in “Headlight” mode (not automatic mode), the owners manual states when the engine is turned off and the door is opened you will get both an alarm chime and a visual warning on the drivers display that lights are on and to turn them off. Just like any normal car going back for 20 years. Well it doesn’t work in 2020 Sentra. Only way I can get feature to chime or show the display warning is to toggle the headlight control switch to “Parking Lights” and back to “Headlights”!. Of course, if I can remember to do that I could remember to turn off the headlights! Auto Intelligent Headlights is explained on the Nissan website, and the 2020 Sentra Brochure States it as a standard feature on all trims. I also have a personal letter from Nissan stating 2020 Sentras have all of this feature. [XXX] Intelligent Auto Headlights | Innovation | Nissan’s Intelligent Auto Headlights: Nissan’s various technologies, including electrification, autonomous drive, connected car & service, mobility service, and energy management, are introduced. [XXX] [XXX] It doesn’t work. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs, after 2 months and being handed off to 2 customer service reps they finally sent a Corp DTS Rep to look at car. After 4 hrs examining it, he contacted the internal only “Nissan Tech Talk”, only for Nissan mechanics and you must have a dealer code to access, not for the public. Turns out, they knew that due to a new wiring system in the 2020 Sentra’s those features and a fog light auto feature don’t work! Apparently it’s a defect, I was never notified they INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2012 Nissan Sentra Gallatin, TN

VISIBILITY/WIPER

The rearview mirror fell off the windshield and was hanging by the wires, which was found when entering the vehicle to drive; when touched, the wires and everything fell the rest off the way off the windshield. Glass from the windshield broke off with the rearview mirror. This was hazardous to be missing while driving and has prevented visibility and impacted safety. A mechanic is repairing the vehicle and has never seen anything like this issue, but upon looking up this specific problem, it appears many Nissan Sentra owners have experienced the same issue.

NHTSA complaint #11608044 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2020 Nissan Sentra Harvest, AL

VISIBILITY/WIPER

When headlights are set to automatic they do not come on when running the wipers. The only way to get them on when raining is to manually select them. The owners manual states that they should turn own automatically with wipers.

NHTSA complaint #11546055 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2021 Nissan Sentra King City, OR

VISIBILITY/WIPER

Wiper will not function. Turning car on/off multiple times will not cause wipers to function. Turned off car and removed all plugs, wipers still will not function. I have a video trying to fix the problem and issue is not resolved. This has happened 5 times already. Took car to dealer ship and they could not replicate issue. We are driving car in Oregon where it rains lots, and with wiper not working our visibility is close to none. This can seriously cause an incident due to low visibility.

2020 Nissan Sentra Brooklyn, NY

VISIBILITY/WIPER

Car was on. The original, rear camera display screen, was fully functional when the vehicle was put in reverse previously. The rear camera was always functional/ this is the first time I’ve seen this occur. The car was put in reverse but this time the rear camera screen was completely blue. I put the car in park, waited a few seconds, and then put it back in reverse; only to have the same result. I came out of the car, opened the trunk, and closed the trunk. When I went back into the car, the rear camera was showing on the screen. I made a video as well.

Only the driver side window goes up and down. Took it to Nissan dealer and they made it work for that minute and said they were ordering parts, it’s been 3 weeks and haven’t heard of them.

NHTSA complaint #11513804 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2017 Nissan Sentra Saint Anthony, ID

VISIBILITY/WIPER

Multifunktion Switch/combination switch malfunction. The issue involved the switch malfunctioning, causing the washer pump to stay on, spraying wiper fluid on the windshield and continue running until the pump failed, causing the fuse to short out and blow. This causes complete loss of visibility during the malfunction. This is reported widely with the 2017, 2018, and 2020 Nissan Sentra on various web platforms. The entire combination switch has to be replaced for the malfunction to be corrected.

2020 Nissan Sentra at 6,000 miles Stafford, VA

VISIBILITY/WIPER

DURING THE DAY WHEN RAINING OR SNOWING & WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE USED, HEADLIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO COME ON AUTOMATICALLY AFTER SEVERAL WIPERS SWISHES. I'M HAVING TO TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON MANUALLY (STATE LAW LIGHTS MUST BE ON WHEN WIPERS ON). THERE'S NO CONSUMER NOTE THAT SAYS 2020 SENTRA IS EXEMPTED FROM THIS. I BELIEVE THEY PUT WRONG MODULE IN ALL NEW MODELS & IT DOESN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY, SO INSTEAD OF A RECALL THEY JUST TELL EVERYONE THEY'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE THAT PARTICULAR FEATURE. MOST DRIVERS WON'T REALIZE THEY DON'T HAVE IT. IT WAS PERFECT STORM OF EVENTS FOR ME TO DISCOVER. IT HAS TO BE DAYLIGHT, RAINING OR SNOWING AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME ON THE HIGHWAY WAS MY SPOUSE, WHO NOTICED MY HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT ON. TOOK ME A WHILE TO FIGURE IT OUT. VERY DIFFICULT TO LOOK DOWN WHILE DRIVING IN STORM & MANUALLY TURN HEADLIGHTS TO APPROPRIATE HEADLIGHT MODE, NOT A SIMPLE SWITCH. THERE'S 3-4 MODES (AUTO, HEADLIGHTS, PARKING LIGHTS, OFF AND FOG LIGHTS). THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH 'INTELLIGENT AUTO HEADLIGHTS' (STATED IN CAR BROCHURE, ALSO ON NISSAN WEBSITE). ACCORDING TO NISSAN WEBSITE, WITH 'AUTO INTELLIGENT HEADLIGHTS' HEADLIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO TURN ON AUTOMATICALLY WHEN FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS USED DUE TO RAIN. I ALSO RECEIVED CONFIRMATION OF THIS VIA TWITTER FROM NISSAN. THE FACTORY REP, LOOKED AT IT FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND CONCLUDED IT DOESN'T HAVE IT, AND HE THINKS IT SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY, EVEN WHILE ACKNOWLEDGING THE WEBSITE AND BROCHURE SAY OTHERWISE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THIS CAR NORMALLY RUNS IN AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT MODE. WHEN DRIVING IN A RAIN OR SNOW STORM DURING THE DAY, THE DRIVER HAS TO REMEMBER THE LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON AUTOMATICALLY AND THEY WILL NEED TO BE TURNED ON MANUALLY WHILE DRIVING IN A STORM. DRIVER ALSO HAS TO REMEMBER TO SHUT THEM OFF, AND THERE IS NO WARNING SYSTEM THAT LETS YOU KNOW LIGHTS ARE STILL ON AND IN MANUAL MODE.
