The worst model year for it is 2019.
ABS control module has failed and the vehicle cannot shift into gear and will not move. Dealership verified failure and the part is on 2 to 3 year back order. Part also apparently cannot be repaired by a 3rd party due to the chips no longer being manufactured. Only way to repair and make the vehicle "operable" is to purchase a "used" module from another donor vehicle which is also suspect and potentially unsafe. A recall needs to be instituted to protect the safety of the public and vehicle owners. RAM and its owner Stellantis need to be held accountable.
NHTSA complaint #11758939 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
My 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel has recurring electrical/communication failures that occur every day. The truck repeatedly displays “ParkSense Temporarily Unavailable,” “Service Shifter,” “Service Tire Pressure System,” and “Tire Pressure Unavailable.” The ParkSense sensors often do not activate at all, leaving me without parking assistance while backing up. The system also repeatedly pings with warnings throughout the day. When “Service Shifter” appears, the truck shifts roughly and the transmission does not feel like it is shifting correctly. I am concerned this could indicate an electrical or communication problem affecting the electronic shifter, transmission operation, gear selection, or vehicle control. The truck also has an ongoing water leak around the rear window, including the upper portion and near the sliding window. The electrical problems appear worse during high humidity, although they have also occurred during winter. I am concerned that water intrusion could cause corrosion, electrical shorts, module damage, or other safety hazards. A reputable independent repair shop inspected the vehicle and identified a U-code communication fault. The problems continue to occur daily. I am concerned about the risk of a collision from losing ParkSense, potential transmission/gear-selection problems, and water-related electrical damage. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether these recurring failures represent a safety defect affecting 2019 Ram 1500 vehicles. The vehicle is available for inspection.
NHTSA complaint #11758914 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The exact failed component has not yet been identified. The malfunction appeared to involve the vehicle’s electrical, communication/network, ignition or starting system. The vehicle and its components remain available for inspection upon request. On Friday, August 21, 2026, while driving my 2019 RAM 1500 Classic Tradesman with approximately 108,320 miles, the vehicle’s electronics suddenly began behaving erratically. As I braked and slowed nearly to a stop, the engine shut off. Parts of the dashboard remained illuminated, but the engine would not crank or restart. After approximately one minute, the electronics returned to normal and the vehicle started again. The truck then operated for the remainder of the drive. This created a safety risk because the vehicle shut off unexpectedly while it was still moving and temporarily could not be restarted. A similar electrical shutdown occurred on February 13, 2026, when the displays flashed, the HVAC cycled, vehicle power was lost and the key became stuck. The vehicle restarted after approximately five to ten minutes during that incident. The current problem has not yet been reproduced, confirmed or diagnosed by a dealer or independent service center. To the best of my knowledge, it has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, an insurance representative or another organization. There was no advance warning before the electronics began malfunctioning during the August incident. The erratic electronics were the first symptom immediately before the shutdown. The dashboard remained partially illuminated during the no-crank period, but I do not recall the exact warning messages or lamps displayed. The vehicle’s VIN currently shows zero unrepaired safety recalls in NHTSA’s lookup.

My 2025 Ram 1500 has experienced seven separate incidents in which the steering suddenly became extremely difficult or impossible to turn. The most recent incident occurred on August 20, 2026. During these events, I temporarily lose the ability to steer the vehicle normally, creating an immediate risk of a crash. A vehicle diagnostic scan recorded repeated U0131 faults for lost communication with the Power Steering Control Module in multiple control modules. The Electric Power Steering module also recorded communication faults involving the PCM, transmission, ABS, and body control module. The scan additionally showed an active B2204 ECU configuration mismatch. This steering failure has occurred seven times and has not been permanently corrected. There is no warning. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this repeated loss of steering control in the 2025 Ram 1500.

The contact owns a 2025 Ram 1500. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 26V059000 (Exterior Lighting, Electrical System) and 26V495000 (Seat Belts); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that while driving and towing a trailer, the brake pedal was depressed, but the trailer brakes failed to engage, causing the vehicle to drift into oncoming traffic. The contact stated that approaching drivers reacted promptly and avoided the vehicle, preventing a crash. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the trailer brakes, brake lights, and taillights were inoperable while towing. The contact disconnected the trailer from the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as intended. The trailer was then transported by a U-Haul truck. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the failure was confirmed; however, the contact was informed that parts were unavailable for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that parts were available and needed to be ordered by the dealer; however, the dealer stated parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the display screen had been replaced four times due to a black screen failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.

2025 Ram 1500, VIN [XXX]. Instrument cluster recall/software update performed in February 2026 after the cluster previously went blank. Since completion of the recall remedy, the digital instrument cluster has gone completely out two additional times. Both occurrences are documented by video and reported to the authorized dealer. Dealer has acknowledged the recurring problem and states they are awaiting direction from Stellantis engineering for a fix. Additionally, the vehicle has experienced two documented failures of the rear backup camera. The vehicle also currently has two unrelated safety recalls awaiting parts. I am concerned that the instrument-cluster recall remedy has not corrected the safety defect and that the recurring cluster and camera failures represent ongoing safety issues. ABS module failure. Warning lights on dash- ABS lamp (code C2200), traction control lamp, service trailer brake system message, and red brake fault lamp illuminated. Does not go away after vehicle running. Reduced braking feel present. Will not pass state inspection for legal road use due to red brake lamp on status, no abs module replacements from dealer- national backorder with unknown shipping date currently.

Abs module goes out which shuts off abs, traction control, and cruise control, and you can’t get the part anywhere except for third party refurbished. In Pennsylvania I can’t get inspection when red warning brake light is on.

Twice in the past two years, the eTorque system had failed will driving on the highest. When the unit fails, you lose all power asks if you're battery is low, you can pose the ability to even steer. The first time, I was on the i87 going north, and barely made it off the road. I was nearly hit by several semi trucks because this was on a blind turn with very little shoulder and I basically had to hide in the woods for safety. Just this past week, less than two years after the replacement, the same issue happened again. This incident was on route 11, which is very busy and I was unable to get my vehicle of the road. An officer came to shield me until the tow truck came, but it was very sketchy. This total cost is over 3000$, and no support from Ram as to why this is happening. This past time the bearings went and there was a lot of smoke coming from the engine area. The smell of burning electronics was choking in the cab; at that point I had to get out of the truck due to the toxic fumes. I did file a complaint with them. With this being such a safety concern, why is there no recall? I can't be the only person having had to deal with this. From what the dealership says, this is happening a lot and there is currently an 8 month wait for the part. Just thought you should be aware of this very serious issue.

On October 12, 2025, while on the highway, the CEL started blinking and the truck began misfire and shutter. I was able to get to the side of the road where I discovered the truck would idle but would barely move. It was towed to the closest dealership where they attempted to reflash the PCM and ISCM which is associated with Stellantis TSB 08-31025 REV. B. The PCM was flashed but the ISCM needed to be replaced. This was successful for another 9,484 miles where the issue repeated which, I will create another incident for.

On June 29, 2025, the CEL started blinking and the truck started shuttering. I was able to pull over to the side of the road where I discovered the truck would idle but not move without stalling. I then had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. Upon receiving the vehicle, the dealership diagnosed a short in the wiring harness. Once the wiring harness replaced, it was discovered that the wiring harness short took out the ISCM which was then replaced, for a second time.

“Service ABS System”, “Service Electronic Braking System” and Traction Control warnings keep randomly occurring. Replacement ABS module is unavailable for this extremely widespread issue. Has anyone discussed a class action lawsuit for this issue? I’ve never had more problems with a vehicle than I’ve had with this truck. Ram should be embarrassed. I’ll be trading it in soon and I’ll never buy another one, that’s for sure.

Multiple times this has happened when I engaged in reverse the screen will be blank and can't see anything. It will take a couple of times of driving, parking and turning on and off the truck before it turns back on. This is a major safety concern as i can not see anything as i reverse. This does not happen every time but does happen often. I haven't had it checked out professionally because it hasn't been permanent but I do have Multiple videos of the problem recurring that I can send.

see it’s a known things with rams that the electronic power steering goes out randomly because of how dodge made it and the dealerships don’t do recalls for it and it’s absolutely absurd to spend 2-4k$ for a fix

The dealership said I need my ABS module replaced due to the lights on the dashboard and my ABS braking system and cruise control not working. I had them order the module and paid for it. I finally asked for a refund. where it has been on backorder for 18 months as of 8/13/2026, with no idea of when it will come in if it comes in at all. This is an extremely disturbing situation and safety issue of not having the anti-braking system in operative.
