In an emergency stop on dry pavement, my braked did not operate in a straight line. The vehicle swerved. My statement is attached as Page 4 to an uploaded form supplied by the dealership abbreviated as "UB Interview Guide". You have my permission to inspect the vehicle which is in the possession of the Toyota of Santa Barbara dealership. Toyota of Santa Barbara has not to date inspected or repaired my vehicle. I am not aware that anyone has inspected the vehicle. I consider the problem to be one that could cause death or serious bodily injury if the vehicle is driven without repair. A red box appeared on my dashboard during the incident, but I had no time to read or process whatever message may have appeared. Please see my statement prepared within 24 hours of the incident.
NHTSA complaint #11750144 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Incident Date: Sunday, [XXX] Incident Time: [XXX] Police Report Number: [XXX] Vehicle Information: Make: Toyota Model: Camry Year: 2028 VIN: [XXX] On Sunday, [XXX], at approximately [XXX], I operated the subject vehicle (2028 Toyota Camry, VIN: [XXX]) for an approximate distance of three to five meters along my residential driveway. My intention was to proceed forward briefly, then shift into reverse to continue my planned route. Upon releasing my foot from the accelerator pedal in preparation for this maneuver, the vehicle unexpectedly and rapidly accelerated without any input from me. The rate and intensity of acceleration was unprecedented in my experience operating motor vehicles. I immediately applied pressure to the brake pedal in an attempt to stop the vehicle; however, the braking system was unresponsive and failed to slow or halt the vehicle's forward motion. As a result of this uncontrolled acceleration, the vehicle collided with the front porch of my residence. Upon impact, all airbags deployed. The collision caused extensive damage to my property, including a fractured and displaced porch support column. I sustained multiple serious injuries during this incident, including a severe laceration to my left leg, burn injuries across both hands, body, and legs, loss of mobility in my left arm and neck, and significant pain in my lower back region. Since the incident, I have experienced persistent sleep disturbances and difficulty concentrating due to recurring mental imagery of the collision. The physical injuries and psychological impact have substantially affected my daily functioning and quality of life. This incident was reported to local law enforcement and documented under Police Report Number 26-42841. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA complaint #11747718 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Saturday may 23 at night my car started showing a message that states “Braking Power Low Stop in a Safe Place See Owner's Manual” I took it to Toyota on Tuesday may 2026 they said it was fine and nothing was wrong even after I said that message kept appearing at least five times each time I was driving the vehicle since Saturday. After they checked it the problem got worse and now it appears 95% of the time I’m driving. Not just that but on may 27 at approximately 9:10 pm my check engine turned on and also system lady took turned on and secondary collision break malfunction turned on. Along side many other warning comes and go but the main ones that stay are the check engine and the braking power low one. I am worried because this all started happening whenever I accelerated even just a little bit and it could end up causing accidents.

NHTSA complaint #11730127 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at 10-15 MPH, the contact attempted to activate the cruise control mode system for the first time since purchasing the vehicle. The system failed to activate, and a message indicating that the cruise control was not activated was displayed. The contact attempted to activate the system a second time, and the vehicle significantly accelerated, the steering wheel and brake pedal locked up, causing the vehicle to crash through the garage door of a house and into an unoccupied parked vehicle. The air bags deployed. The vehicle automatically connected to Toyota Safety Connect, and the contact requested the assistance of police officers. There was property damage. The garage door, the front, and the rear end of the other vehicle were damaged. The contact sustained abrasion on the right arm from the air bag, and abrasion on the lower left leg. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location. The vehicle was then towed to a collision repair shop, where it was totaled by the insurance company. The vehicle was then towed to Coparts. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The insurance company had given the manufacturer authorization to access the Event Data Recorder (EDR). The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

NHTSA complaint #11724869 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I parked the car to load something into the trunk. I admit I did not verify that the car was in Park, and I missed fully moving the selector all the way forward and it clicked into reverse. I turned off the car and stepped out, the car started to roll away going forwards. I was able to chase the car, hop in and stop it. No injuries or damage occurred. Cars with electronic parking brakes should apply the parking break if a door is opened, the seatbelt is unbuckled and the brake pedal is released.

I am writing to report a couple of issues with my new 2025 Camry LE, which I purchased just one week ago. First, I've noticed a significant squeaking noise when I apply the brakes while reversing or parking. This is a consistent sound and is quite loud. It's look like there an issue with brake in new car Additionally, the windshield wipers are making a lot of noise. I've never experienced this with other vehicles, including my 2022 car, which has much quieter wipers. The noise from the new Camry's wipers is quite distracting.

When moving very slow in my gravel driveway, slightly rutted with grass growing in the center, the emergency braking activated hard enough to whiplash my neck locking the front left wheel. My speed was probably less the 5 MPH.

While driving on May 10, 2025, with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and Lane Trace Assist (LTA) active, my 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid unexpectedly veered off the road during a curve. I immediately applied full brake pressure, but the vehicle failed to decelerate and continued rolling 600–800 feet. The braking system, including Brake Override and Automatic Emergency Braking, did not engage as designed. After the incident, the car displayed warnings: Brake System Malfunction, Smart Stop Malfunction, Electronically Controlled Brake System Failure, and Low Brake Fluid. No warning lights appeared prior to the incident. My safety was severely at risk as the vehicle left the roadway and struck rocks and brush. Had another car or pedestrian been present, this could have caused serious injury or death. Toyota’s Product Liability Team and a contracted engineering analyst inspected the vehicle and retrieved Event Data Recorder logs showing 100% brake pedal application with inadequate deceleration. Toyota confirmed the brake master cylinder was low and the left rear caliper was leaking fluid but denied responsibility, citing system limitations. The vehicle was declared a total loss by my insurance company (Progressive) and inspected by an authorized body shop. I have extensive documentation, including Toyota’s denial letter and the diagnostic report, which are available for review. I am reporting this defect because I believe a safety-critical failure occurred and the braking system did not function as intended. The vehicle remains under insurance custody, and all records can be provided upon request.

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH with Adaptive Cruise Control Mode and Lane Assist engaged, the vehicle misread the road signs and veered off the road despite the contact attempting to keep the vehicle in the lane. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as needed and rolled for 300-600 ft. and was stopped by the bushes. The messages "Smart Stop System Malfunction", "Manual Brake System Malfunction", "Electronic Control Braking System Malfunction" and "Braking Control System Malfunction" were displayed. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that three of the tires were flat, the rear driver's side wheel was bent, and there was brake fluid leaking from the vehicle. The message "Low Brake Fluid" was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the contact was advised to tow the vehicle to an autobody repair shop for the repair. The vehicle was towed to the autobody shop, where the contact was provided an estimate to repair the damages. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and sent a field inspector, who diagnosed and determined that the braking system had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 7,340.
