The worst model year for it is 2007.
When the vehicle is running and the gear is in "Park," a rattling noise comes from the front after about 15–16 minutes; this occurs the moment the engine switches back to hybrid mode following the initial warm-up phase. This happens every day; I sit inside the vehicle for an hour during my break at work. This is not normal. Please investigate this issue. I purchased the vehicle four months ago. Thank you...
NHTSA complaint #11755735 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Saturday may 23 at night my car started showing a message that states “Braking Power Low Stop in a Safe Place See Owner's Manual” I took it to Toyota on Tuesday may 2026 they said it was fine and nothing was wrong even after I said that message kept appearing at least five times each time I was driving the vehicle since Saturday. After they checked it the problem got worse and now it appears 95% of the time I’m driving. Not just that but on may 27 at approximately 9:10 pm my check engine turned on and also system lady took turned on and secondary collision break malfunction turned on. Along side many other warning comes and go but the main ones that stay are the check engine and the braking power low one. I am worried because this all started happening whenever I accelerated even just a little bit and it could end up causing accidents.
NHTSA complaint #11740736 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The vehicle experienced a safety-related issue involving the hybrid system, which may cause sudden loss of power while driving. This issue is associated with a manufacturer recall (Toyota campaign 25TB15). Due to the risk of power loss, the vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive. The vehicle was taken to a dealership for repair, where the issue was confirmed. However, no repair has been completed. The vehicle has remained at the dealership for over 3 months without a confirmed repair timeline. This creates a significant safety concern, as loss of power while driving could increase the risk of a crash, especially at highway speeds. No accident, fire, or injury has occurred, as the vehicle has not been driven due to the safety risk.

The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle independently accelerated and reversed which caused the vehicle to crash into a brick wall; the contact stated that while the brake pedal was depressed, the brakes failed to engage. No warning lights were illuminated. The air bags were not deployed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the radiator and condenser needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that a bolt in the engine was loose in the hybrid inverted system however, the dealer stated that the remedy was not yet available. The contact did research and was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V869000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2000.

While driving at normal speed, the vehicle’s engine compartment caught fire without any collision or external impact. I pulled over immediately, and the fire originated from under the hood. The vehicle had approximately 25,000 miles and no prior mechanical issues. This incident occurred without warning and posed a serious safety risk.

On 01/23/26 and again on 02/02/26, I lost power while driving. Fortunately, on both times I was able to turn off the road with no injury or property damage to me or others. I don’t remember if there was a screen message as I was taken by such surprise. Both times, I was traveling about 35 - 40 mph. On 02/04/26 I took my car to my dealer, AutoNation Toyota, Winter Park, Fl. I advised of these incidents and stated I was now afraid of my car. Later, I realized the service tech did Not mention these specific issues. A complete diagnosis of my car did not reveal any problem. On 02/17/26, I received the bolt recall, which could cause power loss with no remedy available yet. I emailed AutoNation asking for a refund or replacement Camry not affected by the recall. Per my request, they did provide my 2 incidents and my fear to the 02/04/26 invoice. I find it odd that the service tech did not mention these specific issues in the upcoming recall. It seems the dealers would be made aware prior to customers. I have taken a loaner car now pending repair being available.

The hybrid propulsion system in my Toyota Camry Hybrid malfunctioned. The vehicle displayed multiple warning messages, including “Hybrid System Malfunction” and other system failure alerts. The accelerator pedal stopped responding, and the vehicle lost propulsion while driving at highway speed. The vehicle would not restart after coming to a stop. The vehicle has been towed and is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle lost power while I was traveling at highway speed during severe weather conditions (tornado and thunderstorm warnings). The car began rattling and shaking, then the accelerator stopped responding, and the vehicle gradually decelerated despite pressing the gas pedal. I was forced to activate hazard lights and maneuver to the shoulder. Multiple large trucks were traveling at high speed and did not immediately move over, coming dangerously close to striking my disabled vehicle. Because of the severe weather and approaching storm conditions, I was stranded on the highway in a vulnerable position. The sudden loss of propulsion created a significant risk of a high-speed rear-end collision. The vehicle was towed after the incident. It has not yet been confirmed whether the dealer has reproduced the failure. The malfunction occurred suddenly while driving and has not been intentionally reproduced by me. The vehicle would not restart at the time of the incident. The vehicle was towed following the incident. It has not yet been inspected by police or insurance representatives. Inspection by a Toyota dealer/manufacturer representative is pending (or currently in progress, if applicable). Approx. 15 minutes before reaching my destination, the vehicle began rattling and shaking unexpectedly while driving at highway speed. Shortly after, the rattling stopped, but the accelerator pedal stopped responding and the vehicle began decelerating. Multiple warning messages then appeared, including “Hybrid System Malfunction” and other system failure.

The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal burning odor coming from the vehicle. Additionally, while driving at, or exceeding 65 MPH, the engine made an abnormal crackling sound, and the vehicle shuddered. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the contact was made aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V869000 (Hybrid Propulsion System). The dealer related the failure to the recall; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and remained with the dealer. The contact was provided with vehicle rental assistance. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,500.

The 2026 toyota suddenly accelerated when pulling into a handicap space. Suddenly the vehicle jumped the concrete barrier and sidewalk and hit a building. The airbags did not deploy and the seat belts came off as normal. The building was not damaged but my wife sustained a shoulder injury and whiplash. The vechicle was towed from the scene and is at Collison Center where the collison occurred. Note: 2026 is when all electronic components were engineered into the vehicle. The vehicle has not been started since the accident. The outcome could have resulted in a life altering injury or death. The problem has not been reproduced as the vehicle is not driveable. The vehicle was purchased the 14 miles on it. As of today 1/16/2026, we are not aware of any vehicle inspection. Our insurance company told us they would not pay for the download of the black box but we could if we would like. We decided to hire a person to download the black box and give us the results of the download. This is to occur on January 20, 2026. There were no warning indicators prior to the sudden acceleration. No cautionary lights came on and continued application of the brakes did not slow the vehicle. No dash lights were on after the sudden acceleration.

My 2025 Toyota Camry XSE (Hybrid) is subject to an open safety recall issued December 16, 2025. The recall involves a serious safety risk, and I was advised by the dealership not to drive the vehicle. At the time of the recall, the vehicle was approximately two months old with about 1,500 miles and in like-new condition. Because there is currently no available remedy, I was required to leave the vehicle stored at the dealership. I have been without use of my own vehicle since January 6, 2026 and am using a loaner vehicle solely due to the safety recall, not by choice. Toyota has stated a fix may not be available until at least Q1 2026, with no defined repair timeline, and customers are being told to wait without interim mitigation. I am concerned about the inability to safely operate my vehicle and the long-term impact of extended storage on a nearly new hybrid vehicle, including hybrid battery health, fuel and fluid systems, seals, tires, and interior and exterior materials. Prior to the recall, the vehicle was routinely garaged and properly maintained, and extended outdoor storage due to the recall introduces risk of premature wear unrelated to normal ownership use. While the dealership has indicated the vehicle may be started periodically, this does not replace normal driving and ownership use. In addition to loss of use, I am required to maintain a $300 monthly loaner vehicle deposit while my vehicle remains unusable due to the recall. Toyota Customer Service has stated they cannot escalate or provide assistance and are instructed to close cases without resolution, creating ongoing financial burden through no fault of my own. Toyota has acknowledged similar recalls on other models lasting extended periods, yet no interim remedy, mitigation plan, or customer relief is offered here. I believe this raises concerns regarding recall remedy timeliness, consumer safety, and loss of use.

Unknown loud noise while driving occurred once. 5 mpg decrease is gas mileage. My assessment is a defect in the eCVT / power split device related to one of the electric motors.

awd hybrid vehicle makes a noise at speeds under 20mph , that sounds like an electric motor or bearing - salesman said the noise is a mandated law by nhtsa ? or ? month later the maintenance tech Forman took it for a test drive and said the same thing . that the noise was created (by a speaker ?) so the vehicle can be heard at low speeds / below 20 mph . i asked where the speaker is , he said he didn't know ! i asked if he could show me it on a diagnostics screen , he again refused . the noise sounds exactly like an electric motor . mg1 , mg2 ? i can't hear the noise when backing out of a driveway or similar low speed situations ? i need to verify if this is true - is there an actual law that the vehicle has to make a noise ? and it was okayed to use a noise that sounds like the hybrid electric motor or bearing ? even if this is true the computer logic should be changed so that the sound pulses so that it is obviously a speaker and not a mechanical issue . ( like no grease ) and it should always work when it is most needed , backing up and slow driving / all the time under 20 mph . service department should plug in a diagnostic scanner and prove to me that a speaker is making the noise . * why is this a safety issue ? because if they are lying , eventually ( when it is out of warranty ) this vehicle will break down . are ALL 2025 Toyota hybrids making some kind of noise ? and if it is a noise created by a speaker - Prove It are all 2025 Camrys making this same noise ? maybe they all have the same mechanical problem ? why wait till there is a crash , fire , or an accident ? as in the next section - Additional Details . and again if it is a legitimate noise generated for safety . at the least change the computer logic so it pulses and doesn't sound like a bad motor generator bearing . And have the maintenance techs trained to know where the speaker actually is . i don't want to share my personal information with toyota . if they are lying

According to the car’s manual and Toyota’s official website, the fuel tank capacity should be 13 gallons. However, my car does not have this capacity. Additionally, it consumes enough fuel for 36 miles when driving only 22 miles.

While driving your 2025 Toyota Camry, I experienced an unintended acceleration and brake failure causing a collision to occur on October 10, 2024 with only around 7000 miles. I was ready to park my vehicle in the garage of my company with very low speed between two vehicles, then it suddenly accelerated on its own and the brakes would not stop the vehicle. My vehicle collided with a wall only around 3 feet before my vehicle. I have concern that this incident resulted from a defect with my vehicle, so I noticed Toyota's dealer and Toyota. I suspect this is a control system failure since this is a new hybrid vehicle. I have heard online that there are several accidents happened for Toyota hybrid vehicles having similar experience: new vehicles with low speed even with foot on the brake. The unintended acceleration under low speed with foot on the brake is a safety issue. However, Toyota did not think this is a vehicle defect after its around two month's investigation.

VEHICLE IN MOTION GETTING ONTO FREEWAY. PRESSING GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE CAR NOT ACCELERATING BEYOND 40MPH AND FELT LIKE IT WAS BEING FORCED TO ACCELERATE LIKE THERE WAS DRAG AND PULL. CAR JERKED FORWARD A FEW TIMES AS IF IT WAS BEING CHOKED ON GAS. THE HYBRID DIAL WAS BOUNCING ERRATICALLY AS IF IT WAS CONFUSED AND CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING BEYOND 40 MPH. TOOK IT TO DEALER 1X THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE ISSUE, CALLED TOYOTA CARE AND WAS TOLD ERROR NEEDED DUPLICATING TO BE ADDRESSED. BOTH INCIDENCES HAVE OCCURED WHILE GETTING ONTO A FREEWAY AND PRESSING GAS PEDAL TO MERGE ONTO THE FREEWAY. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE BOTH TIMES WAS ABOVE 90 DEGREES AND THE CAR HAD BEEN AT REST FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR. I TURNED OFF THE A/C TO REDUCE AMOUNT OF POWER CAR WAS USING UP IN ORDER TO HELP WITH ACCELERATION. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2019. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO 50 MPH AFTER ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES AND WAS DRIVING WITH HAZARDS ALL THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SECOND TIME WHEN GETTING ON THE FREEWAY IT WAS NOT BUSY AND WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO 65 MPH, GOT IT UP TO 40 MPH FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES THEN HIT TRAFFIC AND WAS GOING ABOUT 17 MPH THEN EXITED THE FREEWAY AND TOOK THE STREETS.
