When I tried to lock or unluck my car's driver's door, it wouldn't lock or unlock. I tried using the key instead of the "remote" opening but still took some efford. A closer inspection reveal that the little "hook" thing locking the door wasn't working properly. However, it had happened before that the door could only be unlock through physically using the key, and it has developed into a struggle to open it even with physical key.

I had to wait for hours for the car to start back up … a couple weeks later the car cut off 2 on the highway going 70/80 and I told the man at the car lot about it the first time it happen which wasn’t even a week of me having the car he said he didn’t care and what did I want him to do about it … even tho he sold me a dangerous car . The car almost caused me to be in a wreck steering wheel locked up all the times and I had a hard time pulling out of the fast lane to safety almost got hit a few times .

Went in to get a service done for my vehicle and all the highlighted areas were the problem. They stated models from 2019-2022 The Camrys all have had transmission issues. I still have my car and it’s working, but I don’t want to pay for a new transmission when Toyal manufacturing has been aware of these models and issues.

Multiple door actuator locks are faulty and broken, conveniently just out of warranty. The first right passenger door lock broke/faulty in October 2025, leading me to discover a class action lawsuit was filed against Toyota for faulty actuators. This can be found here: [XXX]. This faulty door lock was fixed as a goodwill gesture from Toyota; The same issue occurred recently for the front driver door, leading me to bring it to the dealership to confirm the issue and note that the actuator is "faulty" and needs replacement. Toyota refuses to cover this ongoing issue with the door actuators and is refusing to fix this concern or part. This is a major safety issue in case of a crash; if the driver's door is the only way to leave the vehicle, a faulty locking and unlocking leaves me liable for being trapped in said vehicle. The Panoramic Moonroof suddenly is stuck in the vented position. It wont open more or close. Just get a clicking noise. This appears to be a very common issue amongst buyers of this generation of toyota. It started raining/hailing when I had it opened and could not close it I had rain falling down on me getting in my eyes and hail hitting me while driving which was a big safety issue.

My 2023 Toyota Camry has developed an intermittent defect where the ignition key becomes stuck and cannot be removed even though the dashboard shows the vehicle is in Park. The only way to remove the key is to disconnect the vehicle's battery, which is not a normal or safe operating procedure. The problem occurs intermittently and has happened multiple times. I believe there may be a defect involving the ignition key release system, shift interlock, park position switch, or a related electrical component. This condition could leave drivers stranded or unable to secure their vehicle and creates a potential safety concern. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be investigated and to determine whether other 2023 Toyota Camry owners are experiencing the same problem.

I am writing to report two serious safety incidents involving my Tesla Model 3 Full Self-Driving (FSD). First Incident: On XXX at approximately 8:00 a.m., I was traveling on [XXX], with Full Self-Driving engaged. Without any warning, the vehicle suddenly steered to the right, struck a mailbox, broke the right-side mirror, continued traveling for approximately 10 yards, and then came to a complete stop. At the time of the incident, there were no vehicles ahead of or behind my vehicle. I was holding the steering wheel, but I did not make any steering input or take any action that would have caused the vehicle to turn. Following the incident, I promptly reported it to the police, my insurance company, and NHTSA. I also scheduled an inspection with the Tesla Service Center in Princeton and contacted Tesla’s Vehicle Safety team. I was informed that Tesla would conduct an investigation and provide results within approximately 30 days. Second Incident: On XXX, at approximately 8:25 a.m., while driving on [XXX] with FSD engaged, the vehicle again veered sharply to the right without warning, nearly causing a collision with an adjacent vehicle before abruptly correcting itself. This recurrence demonstrates that a significant safety problem remains unresolved. Tesla previously inspected the vehicle and reported no issues with the FSD system, yet the defect persists. 2023 Toyota Camry Woodland, WA Fire

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On July 10, 2026, my vehicle was parked, turned off, and unattended. The front windows were partially rolled down because the outside temperature was approximately 80°F. I had been away from the vehicle for about one hour. Approximately 20 minutes before discovering the incident, I heard fire trucks nearby but did not initially realize they were responding to my vehicle. When I returned, I discovered that the vehicle had caught fire and that the fire department had already extinguished it. I do not know what component or system failed or where the fire originated. Before parking the vehicle, I did not observe any warning lights, dashboard messages, smoke, unusual odors, overheating, electrical issues, mechanical problems, or other symptoms that would have indicated a possible fire or malfunction. Because the vehicle caught fire while parked and turned off, the incident created a serious safety risk to nearby people, surrounding vehicles, homes, and other property. Fortunately, I am not aware of anyone being inside or immediately next to the vehicle when the fire began. A fire marshal is currently investigating the incident and the cause remains unknown. The issue has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealership, manufacturer, or independent repair facility. That I am aware of. The firemarshalle said it appears to be manufactured defects. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer to my knowledge. The damaged vehicle and affected components should be available for inspection upon request, subject to the requirements of the fire investigation.

2019 Toyota Camry with UA80 8-speed automatic transmission experienced complete transmission failure. Vehicle was diagnosed by a mechanic confirming transmission failure. Toyota was contacted for goodwill assistance under case number 260701001190. Toyota has missed multiple promised supervisor callbacks and has not resolved the matter. This transmission is currently the subject of three federal class action lawsuits alleging Toyota knowingly sold vehicles with defective UA80 transmissions prone to premature failure due to heat buildup and defective software programming.

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety hazard involving my 2011 Toyota Camry. The vehicle's dashboard has deteriorated and is melting, creating a sticky surface that reflects sunlight onto the windshield and significantly impairs visibility while driving. The dashboard continuously emits a residue that transfers to the windshield, making it difficult to keep the glass clear and further reducing visibility. The resulting glare can be severe, especially during daylight hours, creating dangerous driving conditions and increasing the risk of an accident. I understand that Toyota previously acknowledged this defect and offered a customer support program for affected vehicles. However, Toyota has denied assistance because it claims I missed a deadline for repairs. I never received any notification regarding the program or any deadline. As a result, the safety hazard remains uncorrected. This issue is not cosmetic. The melting dashboard directly affects the driver's ability to see the roadway clearly and safely operate the vehicle. The condition continues to worsen over time and presents an ongoing risk to vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and other motorists. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this matter and determine whether additional action is warranted to address this known safety-related defect. I believe affected vehicle owners who did not receive notice of the repair program should not be left with an unresolved safety hazard that compromises safe vehicle operation.

At approximately 93,000 miles, my vehicle experienced a sudden transmission malfunction. About one week before the failure, intermittent warning messages appeared for Emergency Braking Malfunction and Forward Collision Warning Malfunction. These warnings appeared and disappeared several times over multiple days. About three days before the major transmission issues began, the vehicle was taken to an authorized Toyota dealership in North Brunswick, New Jersey, for a routine oil change. At that time, the vehicle was operating normally, and no transmission-related issues were reported. 3 days later, the warning messages returned, and the check engine light came on. Around the same time, the vehicle began experiencing serious transmission problems, including delayed shifting, harsh gear changes, and RPM flare-ups without corresponding acceleration. These issues created a serious safety risk because the vehicle could hesitate or fail to accelerate properly when merging into traffic, turning at intersections, or attempting to avoid hazards. The unpredictable shifting and loss of power increased the risk of a collision. After the check engine light appeared, the vehicle was returned to the same Toyota dealership. The dealership performed diagnostic testing and identified internal transmission and transmission control system faults, including solenoid-related failures and torque converter clutch issues. The dealership determined that the transmission requires full replacement and provided a repair estimate of approximately $12,000. The vehicle has no known prior accident damage related to this issue. there are numerous consumer complaints involving similar transmission problems in 2018–2019 Toyota Camry vehicles equipped with the 8-speed automatic transmission. I am filing this complaint because this failure occurred at relatively low mileage for a Toyota vehicle and presents a significant safety concern due to unpredictable power delivery and loss of acceleration.

The HV battery cooling fan on the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid has no protective filter and no cleaning or inspection interval in Toyota’s published Scheduled Maintenance Guide. Toyota acknowledged this exact problem in TSB T-SB-0087-13 (July 2013) for 2012–2016 Camry HV vehicles, stating the cooling fan ‘may exhibit an excessive buildup of dust, lint, or other debris that can reduce the efficiency of the HV Battery Cooling System.’ However, Toyota excluded the 2007–2011 generation — which has the same unfiltered cooling fan design — from this TSB. My 2009 Camry Hybrid (VIN: [XXX] , 208,000 miles) has now failed with code P0A80, requiring full battery replacement. The failure is consistent with the cooling fan clogging defect Toyota acknowledged for later model years but never addressed for this generation. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether Toyota should extend TSB T-SB-0087-13 or issue a recall covering the 2007–2011 Camry Hybrid. When driving, the car would go into limp mode and wouldn’t get out of 2nd gear. it was super jerky as well. when taken to a mechanic, it was diagnosed with malfunctioning transmission among some other things such as brakes and tires. we take fairly great care of our vehicles and get them seen for regular maintenance. once the car started acting up, the check engine light came on. it is now unsafe to drive and two mechanics have confirmed an issue with the transmission, which is now also in a class action lawsuit for transmission failures. it’s had hiccups before over the past two years (started around 85000 miles) but never to that extreme and every time we took it into a mechanic they never saw the issue before until now. the hiccups we just delayed shifting and simultaneous RPM increase but stoped after a few seconds and letting off the gas, and then would correct itself. mechanics chocked it up to just needing a tune up and never saw the issue themselves, it happened randomly and just every once in a while.

On [XXX], I was involved in an accident in my Toyota Camry while the vehicle was stopped on the freeway [XXX]. The car suffered an impact at approximately 20 MPH or less. My friend [XXX] was driving with my permission while I was a passenger, and our two dogs were also in the vehicle. We were rear-ended by another driver, which pushed us into the vehicle in front of us, causing both rear and front impacts. The vehicle was totaled. During the collision, the airbags did not deploy. Immediately after the accident, the vehicle displayed an “SRS Airbag Malfunction – Visit Your Dealer” warning message. I suffered whiplash and nerve-related injuries. I am concerned the airbag/SRS system did not operate properly and may have failed during the accident, potentially increasing the severity of injuries. I am requesting an investigation into the failure of the SRS/airbag system. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2015 Toyota Camry Santa Clara, CA Crash 1 injured

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On Friday, December 5, 2025, I was coming out of the driveway at the Jack In The Box on the corner of El Camino & Nobili Avenue in Santa Clara. My foot was on the break as I was going to stop at the end of the driveway to check to see if there was any traffic coming down Nobili before I exited the Jack In The Box driveway. All of a sudden before I even hit the end of the driveway while I had my foot on the brake, the car started to speed up (unintentional acceleration)and I continued to press my foot down harder on the brake, but nothing could stop it. A lot of black smoke came up out of the steering wheel area where it attached to the dashboard & all of the air bags around the car deployed. Then my car completely turned itself around and the front of my car was now facing the driveway that I had just come out of. This torque of acceleration and braking is why my car spun around 180 degrees. The vehicle had sustained damage to the front end, the hood, front bumper cover, right front head lamp was cracked, and the Toyota emblem was missing. (See attached photos taken at the time of the accident) Since all of the air bags in the whole car had completely deployed, I found that the only way I could get out of the car was to slide myself under the air bag that surrounded the driver side door. As I got out of the car, the rib that is directly under my right breast began to hurt very badly and it was hard for me to take a breath with the pain from that rib. I also had a bad headache, too. Plus, the top of my left hand was all red and felt like something had scratched the whole back of my hand. It hurt to touch it. I was also light-headed.The car, I was told, looked like I had hit a wall. The whole left front side of the car was severely mangled - the hood, the fender, and the tire was flat. The shocking thing was that I had not had an encounter with any car, nor had they hit me, to account for this damage. The Police & Fire Dept.& EMT's were called.

2022 Toyota Camry Turlock, CA

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

My Toyota vehicle has a recurring HVAC/air conditioning odor problem that produces a strong vinegar-like or mildew smell from the air vents whenever warmer weather returns and the air conditioning system is used again. The odor is extremely unpleasant and affects the air quality inside the vehicle cabin. The condition repeatedly returns seasonally despite attempts to clean the system. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Toyota dealership for inspection and was told that this issue is “common with Toyotas.” The dealership did not provide a permanent repair and instead recommended spraying a cleaning product into the HVAC system. The cleaner did not resolve the issue, and the odor continues to return. The problem appears related to moisture retention, microbial growth, or contamination within the HVAC evaporator or drainage system. I am concerned about prolonged exposure to contaminated air inside the passenger compartment, especially during regular use of the air conditioning system. Toyota should investigate this recurring HVAC odor condition and determine whether a design or manufacturing defect exists involving the evaporator, condensate drainage, or ventilation system. Owners should not be expected to repeatedly mask the odor with temporary spray products when the underlying issue remains unresolved.

I was driving my daughter to work then all of a sudden 6 different vehicle alerts came on my dashboard. Vehicle Alerts: advanced ultrasonic detecting and ranging system, lane departure alert, pre-collision system, parking brake system, vehicle stability control system, and secondary collision brake system. I was at a stop light then the car would not drive it was like it started stalling. I had to put on my hazard lights then turn the car off and back on. That's when I was able to accelerate to 20 mph to get out of traffic. I could not give to car any gas to move. I pulled over to a doctor's office parking lot. The car would not go into reverse. Once again, I had to turn it off and on. I had to eventually put it into neutral and cruise all the way home. Once home the last alert came on which was the check engine light. I had the car towed to my nearest Toyota dealership. Toyota kept my car for over 24 hours. I had to go back up there to inquire about my car. That was when I was told it was my transmission and they quoted me $9,338.96 ($2,479.87 labor for 12.4 hours, $ 6,808.92 part, $50 for shop supplies) to get my car repaired.
