Vehicle suffered a violent, un-commanded highway-speed downshift due to NHTSA Campaign 26V237000 / Ford Recall 26S28. The tachometer was redlined during the incident. The mechanical overspeed immediately damaged the engine's cam phasers. Eide Ford in Mandan, ND, applied the recall software patch after the structural failure already occurred, cleared the diagnostic trouble codes without providing a copy to the owner, and is refusing to replace the lead frame or cover the resulting valve train damage, demanding $7,200 out-of-pocket.

I am submitting this complaint regarding Ford Recall 26S28 (NHTSA Recall 26V237). My truck exhibited the dangerous unintended downshift condition described in this recall for several weeks before the repair remedy became available. A few weeks weeks before April 27, 2026, the truck began unexpectedly downshifting from approximately 5th or 6th gear into a much lower gear while driving. Each event caused the truck to enter limp mode, illuminate the wrench light, display multiple warning lights, and shake violently. I had to pull off the road, shut the truck off, wait several minutes, and restart it before it would drive normally again. I immediately reported these incidents to Mike White Ford and was repeatedly told to monitor the vehicle because no recall remedy was available. I reported the issue again during an oil change on April 27, 2026. Driving home from that appointment (9 miles), the truck experienced two more unintended downshifts. We immediately called the dealership and were again told to continue monitoring it. The condition progressively worsened over the next several weeks. On May 31, 2026, the truck experienced six unintended downshifts in one day. After the final event, it became difficult to restart and the check engine light illuminated. By my June 8 appointment, the truck was stuck in permanent limp mode and had to be towed to the dealership. The service manager stated it was "unsafe to drive" and provided a loaner vehicle. The truck later stored DTC P0219 (Engine Overspeed) and P2112 (Throttle Actuator Control System-Stuck Closed). I estimate the unintended downshift occurred approximately 75 times before the truck became inoperable. I opened Ford case CXH08666656S0W4Q2 on July 21, 2026. I respectfully request that NHTSA review whether prolonged operation with this known recall condition, while owners awaited a repair remedy, may contribute to additional vehicle failures and increased safety risks.

The truck exhibited the abrupt downshifting upon driving out of the parking lot, this caused great stress and possible accidents to me and family. The transmission continued to get worse and we were in fear of our lives to drive the vehicle on the highway. Once we got the vehicle home it literally would not shift into gear and has been disabled since the first week in XXX. We are plumbing and heat contractors and have lost a great deal of business due to not having a truck/this truck to use for work. We had it towed to Greico Ford in [XXX] on advice from Keith, the Service Mgr. We know the recall is due in XXX. This dealership is now trying to tell us that all the hoses are damaged and wants to charge us $2,000 to repair the hoses. We obviously don't want to do this since we believe the violent jarring and downshifting of the transmission caused by this MFG defect probably caused this and a lot more other problems. MFG Recall #26S28, NHTSA Recall# 26V237. I need to know when this recall remedy will be submitted and what are my rights to get this fixed? Component or system that failed: The backup camera system failed and is completely inoperable. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The failure of the backup camera creates a safety hazard when reversing the vehicle. Without the camera providing visibility behind the truck, there is an increased risk of striking a pedestrian, another vehicle, or an object that may not be visible using mirrors alone. Confirmation of the problem: Yes. An authorized Ford dealership diagnosed the failure and charged me for the inspection. The dealer informed me that my vehicle is not covered under Ford's existing backup camera recall. Inspection by others: The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or an insurance representative. The dealership did not provide information or assistance regarding how to have the issue reviewed by Ford or pursue any further action. Warning lamps or prior symptoms: There were no warning lights, messages, or other indications that the backup camera was beginning to fail. The failure occurred without warning. The problem first occurred in 2025.

Hooked up my trailer after coming home from a trip to take it to a dump station to empty the tanks. Ford OEM Trailer Brake Control Module locked the brakes on my trailer immediately and then short circuited itself, emitting a burnt electrical smell through out the vehicle, then suddenly released the brakes and would not function via the brake petal or manually engaging the lever. There were no previous indications that an issue was happening. After removing I found that a single chip had bubbled and melted itself. Had this happened while the trailer was in significant motion, such as towing down a canyon, could have resulted in catastrophic loss.

I received a safety recall notice 26S28/NHTSA Recall 26V237 On the same day that this occurred in my truck. Luckily for me, I was within 2 miles of home, the only way I could get home was to drive in first gear up the mountain road to get there. My truck is not drivable. If this happens on a freeway, I most likely would be rear ended as the vehicle stops suddenly. What recourse do I have from Ford motor company since I can’t drive the truck that they sold me? The recall notice says a fix won’t be ready until July, and that is a long time from now. I need a vehicle to drive. I feel like not having this remedy ready yet means that it’s not ready in a timely manner.

When driving the truck, the RPMs will randomly jump up and down without accelerating or shifting gears. At times it will also randomly shift when it doesn't need to shift. It downshifts more than it upshifts. This happens at a steady cruise down a highway and sometimes it is like it takes a minute or two to figure out which gear it actually needs to be in. It seems like the transmission may not be communicating well or something. I am worried that I will pull away from a red light one day and it will decide it doesn't want to shift at all and end up in what could be a terrible intersection situation.

I became aware of a Ford F 150 Rear Camera recall. I found that out in 2025 but with research looks like there was also one in 2021. I did not receive the recall and contacted Ford. They do not show that either. I was contacting them because I had 2 accidents in 2024 that I believe were caused by the failure o the rear camera alert. I also have contacted my car insurance company regarding my claim. Ford in not communicating with me and my insurance company suggested I contact you. In Aug of 2024 on a Saturday I was having work done on my house so prked my 2008 Audi across from my driveway. Later in the day when I needed to drive my F150 I backed out of my garage and hit the Audi. No alerts came on with the camera. The next day I went to church and pulled in to a spot then backed up wo straigten out. I hit a car that was driving past my spot. Again the alerts never went on. I believe both of these are related to the failure of my rear camera. I am shocked that my truck is not on the reall list as I believe the rear camera needs to me replaced. I am also looking for process to fill a claim against ford for my accidents. Any informaton or thoughts would be appreciated. [XXX] and [XXX] email [XXX] [XXX] . I was driving my 2015 Ford F150 and just pulled into the parking lot. The lights on the dash started going off (airbags, parking detectors, big wrench, etc), however the vehicle driving wasn't affected at that time. I immediately stopped and parked, When I returned to my vehicle it had full power, but wouldn't even attempt to start. I had no choice but to tow it to a nearby Ford dealership in Grapevine, TX. It was ultimately diagnosed with a bad "Transmission Lead Harness." The dealership told me that this was a recall item on many F150s, but for some reason, not on mine. I researched this specific issue and found that 2011-2016 models of F150 were affected. It shows an investigation was opened for 2015 models as well. My question is why my specific vehicle is not under a recall. This could be a potentially dangerous issue, i'd think. So, right now I'm looking at a nearly $2000 bill to repair my vehicle when they get the parts in on Friday, 10/10/2025. I believe that if this is a recall on other with the same transmission lead harness, why is mine separated from that. I was given no warning other than the lights going off just before shutting of my truck, then it wouldn't start again. Thankfully I was in a populated area and not in the middle of nowhere. Please advise on any possible what I can get reimbursed for this issue.

Subject: Safety Defect Report – 2015 Ford F-150 Clock Spring Failure To Whom It May Concern at NHTSA, I am writing to report a safety defect in my 2015 Ford F-150 (VIN: [XXX] ). The steering wheel clock spring has failed, which prevents the use of steering wheel controls to cycle through and monitor critical vehicle information. This creates a safety risk because the driver cannot access important vehicle data while driving. I contacted Ford Motor Company to request assistance, as the repair was quoted at $700. Ford acknowledged my request but refused to provide assistance, stating the vehicle is outside of warranty. However, the clock spring is a safety-critical component that should not fail under normal use. Ford has issued recalls for clock spring failures on other vehicles, which indicates this can be a systemic safety issue. This failure compromises safe vehicle operation and should be investigated as a potential recall matter. Thank you for your attention to this issue. Transmission on my F150 suddenly dropped to a lower gear as I was pulling out on a highway which significantly lowered my acceleration. Luckily the oncoming traffic slowed until I could safely get across to my lane. Eventually it jumped back into the proper gear. From what I have found on the internet this seems to be a common defect. Only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed. This is not the first time the transmission has done this. I took my F150 to the dealership to be checked and they didn’t find anything wrong. P0706 and P0707 codes.

Coolant hoses defect. I have had non stop issues with coolant hoses blowing out on the highway due to the couplings they use. Plastic is not designed to withstand heat from the coolant and the constant temperature changes. I have to replace the couplings every 6month plus the heater core hoses because of the failure of the plastic couplings they use there isn’t an aftermarket option that is not plastic either this is a real issue due to being stranded on the road and not to mention the issues of environmental damage due to the coolant leaking all over the ground!!!
