The passenger-side air bags did deploy. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, where it remained. No warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. A police report was filed. The contact's daughter was taken to the Emergency Room and treated for injuries to her head, left shoulder, and left leg. Android Auto is incredibly unresponsive to user input. Using a Moto G Power cell phone (~2 years old...no performance issues when not using Android Auto), the screen lags for 5-10 seconds between inputs, requiring the user to make many attempts to press the cars Ford Sync 3 Infotainment screen. This is forces the user to take their eyes off the road for way longer than is safe. The quality of Google and Android Auto is considerably worse than Ford's native Sync 3 system...frankly Android Auto is dangerous. Tried this with multiple cables, and even other phones, and in other Ford vehicles and it is just as unresponsive. I don't understand how something so unregulated (Android Auto) is permitted to be used natively in vehicles. I believe car infotainment systems are supposed to be using "Realtime OS's", and I highly doubt Android Auto is doing this.
NHTSA complaint #11511954 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving the infotainment touch screen went black with no warning. The contact stated that the rearview camera and hands-free feature were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was diagnosed with a failed Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM). The contact stated the APIM was not communicating with the vehicle. The APIM needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was not been repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the vehicle. The contact was then transferred to NHTSA to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Dashboard shows "temporarily lost connection with climate system". When displayed, the air conditioning system (cold or heat) works. Other functions on dash board are also unavailable. Windows or door locks do not work. Considerable safety concern for all but especially a vehicle transporting young children and/or infants. Summer heats rise to unbearable to dangerous to deadly if not addressed. Ford apparently has no fix but the issue is well documented amongst Ford owners. Unsure why this isn't a recall option given the nature and number of concerns. any help at all would be appreciated. While I provide today's date that it occurred, i share the problem has been ongoing for several years. It is on and off with the only consistent indication being when it is hot outside.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STARTED BEEPING. TOOK A MINUTE TO FIGURE OUT THE CLIMATE CONTROL WHICH WAS SET AT 72 WAS AUTOMATICALLY GOING DOWN TO 60 (IT BEEPS AS IS CHANGES SETTINGS). TRIED TO TURN IN BACK UP AND IT WENT DOWN, TURNED IT OFF AND IT CAME BACK ON. DID THIS ALL THE WAY HOME. IN MY DRIVEWAY, WITH CAR TURNED OFF, IT CONTINUED BEEPING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES BETWEEN APRIL 27TH AND AUGUST 30TH. SOME TIMES IT GOES UP TO 85 DEGREES AND SOMETIMES DOWN TO 60 AND THERE IS NO STOPPING IT WHILE DRIVING. FORD HAS UPDATED COMPUTER TWICE AND REPLACED IT ONCE. WAITING FOR CALL BACK FROM FORD TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THERE IS NO CONTROLLING IT AND IT'S GOING TO EXTREME LOW AND HIGH TEMPERATURES, AS WELL AS THE CONTINUOUS BEEPING. EXTREMELY DISTRACTING. I HAVE YESTERDAY'S INCIDENT ON VIDEO. NOT TO MENTION, SINCE THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF FIRE; IT MUST BE ELECTRICAL OF SOME SORT?

THE RIGHT PASSENGER FRONT DOOR LATCH WAS REPLACED WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE LATCH PART THAT HAS A RECALL, THIS DOOR IS INTERMITTENTLY STICKING WHICH IS MAKING ME EXTREMELY NERVOUS THAT IT IS GOING TO FLY OPEN WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY TODDLER OR SOMEONE ELSE IN THE CAR, ALONG WITH PASSENGERS ON THE ROAD. I AM IN FEAR OF BEING LOCKED INSIDE OF THE CAR AS WELL, BEING THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY KEY HOLES! THE DOOR HAS STUCK APPROXIMATELY 5 TIMES SINCE THE "REPAIR" AT FAIRWARY FORD IN BURGAW, NC. ALSO WHEN I PLACE MY CAR IN REVERSE AND PRESS THE GAS PEDAL THERE IS A DELAY SOMETIMES BEFORE IT STARTS TO REVERSE, THIS CAN BE FATAL IF SOMEONE IS EVER BEHIND ME!
