VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

While driving at highway speed on I-275with cruise control engaged on afternoon of June 11 the truck suddenly began slowing down. I couldn't get it to accelerate. I ultimately had to get over two lanes and still had enough momentum to get off an exit ramp. At the end of the ramp, I noticed I was unable to get the truck to accelerate from a stopped position either. Only then did I notice the dial transmission had moved to N from D. I did not initiate this move while I was on the highway, nor was I aware of it, nor do I believe I bumped the dial. This is the second time this has happened. Previously it occurred some time in late 2025 in a store parking lot. At highway speeds, this is extremely dangerous.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

My 2024 Ford Maverick (VIN [XXX] ) has had three sudden losses of drive power while driving. Each time the accelerator stopped delivering power with NO warning lights, no error messages, and no dashboard indicators before, during, or after. Each time I pulled over, shut off the vehicle, and restarting fully restored normal function. Incident 1 — Aug 2024, two-lane highway, New Mexico. Clear, ~80°F, light traffic, ~60 mph. Accelerator suddenly lost power, no indicators. Pulled to shoulder; restart restored function. Incident 2 — XXX, ~6:10 PM, XXX northbound on-ramp from [XXX] . While accelerating up the ramp to merge, power cut out — same behavior, no warnings. Pulled over; restart restored function. Incident 3 —XXX, ~8:05 AM, [XXX] . Slowed for a turn; no power when I accelerated out. Same signature. These symptoms are identical to NHTSA Recall 24V-267 (Ford 24S24) — loss of motive power from the BCM/PCM failing to detect 12V battery degradation — and the follow-on battery recall 25V-158 (Ford 25S26). My vehicle is a 2024 Maverick and is NOT included in 24V-267, which Ford limited to 2022-2023 Mavericks built Feb 2021–Oct 2022. I am reporting because my 2024 shows the identical failure mode, including the total absence of warning before power loss, matching the owner reports that prompted Recall Query RQ24014 into the adequacy of the 24V-267 remedy. I request NHTSA consider whether the affected population should include model year 2024 Mavericks. These events are recurring and have occurred at highway speed and while merging, creating a serious crash risk. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

My 2022 hybrid Maverick suddenly lost power as I was driving at 45 MPH. There was no warning lights; the entire dashboard went black. I lost all power including lights, speedometer, and power steering. Additionally, and more concerning, I lost all brake functionality so I could not stop the vehicle, even pressing the brake very hard. The parking brake switch also did not work due to the power loss. The brake pedal would not budge until suddenly after the vehicle completely lost all momentum. In the process blew through a stop sign and I could've easily been killed, or worse, killed other people as I had no control of the vehicle as it coasted. Thankfully nobody and nothing else was harmed as I was the only one on the road, it was just traumatic. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and preliminarily inspected. They decided they want to address a technical safety bulletin for a "no start condition", though the conditions did not match this situation exactly. But they also stated the hybrid/powertrain warranties did not apply, so I rejected the repair due to high cost. It is uncertain if the repair they want to do would fix the issue. It is currently available for inspection upon request, though Ford may try to buy it back soon. It has not been inspected by police or insurance. The only light I can think of was a month before I saw a brief "Charging System Service Soon" warning, but it was only on momentarily (did not persist). I am unsure if this is related.

AUTOMATIC REVVING INCIDENT 1 DATE: November 25, 2025 TIME: about 4:05pm LOCATION: [XXX] WEATHER: Slight rain, around 37º F VEHICLE STATUS: In Park, heat dial turned on. DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE: Turned key to on position while in park. ICE engine immediately turned on and revved all the way, as if the accelerator pedal was pressed down all the way. Pedal was NOT under floor mats. Immediately turned key to off position, let sit for a moment. Turned key to on position again and issue seemed to be resolved. No check engine lights or other codes were showing on the dash cluster. AUTOMATIC REVVING INCIDENT 2 & 3 DATE: December 2, 2025 TIME: about 4:05pm LOCATION: [XXX] WEATHER: Clear, around 27º F VEHICLE STATUS: In drive, heat dial turned on. DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE: Turned key to on position while in park. Heat was on. Immediately turned dial to “D,” and engine proceeded to again rev all the way up. However, this time, full power was transferred to wheels, causing vehicle to attempt to lunge forward. Luckily, I was on an icy patch of the road, and the tires spun instead of gaining traction. I immediately slammed the brakes and turned the car off. Waited about 2 minutes and then turned key to on position, and the exact same thing happened again. No check engine lights or other codes were showing on the dash cluster. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

While driving in local traffic, my vehicle completely shut down. All power was lost. The engine shut off, shift control was disabled and the power steering did not work. Several warning lights were displayed including a "shift to neutral" warning, which was disabled. I was unable to restart the vehicle. After sitting for 10 minutes, the vehicle was started and resumed normal operations. This has happened on more than one occasion. The local dealership has kept the vehicle and cannot duplicate the failure or determine the cause. I am concerned that this could happen on the highway and cause myself or other travelers to be injured.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

The vehicle has grade assist braking, which cannot be disabled. At speeds below 35mph this braking is too strong and cannot be properly controlled with throttle input. The effect is that, when going downhill, if you release pressure from the gas pedal, the vehicle will abruptly decelerate by several mph with no illumination of the brake light. In traffic, in hilly areas, this is extremely dangerous and has led to several instances of nearly being rear ended. Furthermore, the only way to avoid slowing down is to accelerate. There is no way to feather the gas pedal to coast downhill, so you are either speeding up or slowing down (abruptly). This also requires keeping your foot on the gas pedal when it would be safer to be able to control the vehicle with the brakes. I have reported this to Ford. I have not taken the vehicle to a dealership (because I suspect that they will not be able to do anything about it). There are no warning lights.

2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid Cordova, SC

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

At approximately 10 pm driving on the interstate at approximately 65 mph, I was attempting to accelerate to 70 mph and my speedometer was decreasing in speed even though I had my foot on the accelerator. I had to pull off to the side of the interstate that has a very narrow shoulder. My car was not able to accelerate. I had to turn it off and turn it back on and then it appeared to work as usual. This has happened twice now. I took it into the dealership to have it fixed and they said they updated the control module unit and replaced my battery due to other issues I’ve been having with the car. No warning lights came on, and the car still appeared to be on and in drive when the incident occurred. The component has been inspected and the dealership said they repaired the issue, which was not the case, due to the same thing reoccurring approximately 10 days after the “repair” was made.

On April 5th, 2025 I was driving about 20-30 mph and braking down a slight hill. When I went to accelerate up the other side of the hill the vehicle would not accelerate while pushing on the throttle. There were no check engine lights or errors while the vehicle would not accelerate. I pulled over to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. Upon restarting the vehicle it appeared to function normally and continued driving for about an hour home. I have not reported the incident to Ford or the dealer.

I was driving normally at speed. The truck suddenly lost power. The gas pedal was unresponsive. It took a moment to realize what had happened since the truck showed no indication of an issue. No warnings showed on the dash, the radio was playing as normal. Pressing the gas pedal did nothing. Brakes worked. I was on a road where was I luckily was able to coast into a parking lot and stop safely. I shut off the vehicle and immediately turned it back on. Everything started normally and the vehicle drove normally from that point.

Started Vehicle, pulled out of a parking spot and I slowly approached an intersection, the engine accelerated at a high rpm/rate without touching the gas pedal, I immediately firmly applied brakes, the card was jerking and shaking hard working against brakes, I immediately turned car off. It could have easily ran into a car or person, being that I was on a city street with pedestrians crossing and car traffic. When I restarted, it did not want to move at all. I then restarted it a second time and it drove normal. No lights or warnings appeared. It was at Ford dealer getting all recalls repaired about 2 weeks ago and were completed to my knowledge. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

I have a 2024 hybrid Maverick with 17,000 miles on. The The 12 volt battery is a known issue in the vehicle that Ford has failed to address. When I went to go start my truck the other morning the battery had failed. I hooked up a jump pack to the proper terminals under the hood so that I could start the vehicle. I was successful in starting the vehicle after that. I had every warning message pop up on the dashboard. I turn the vehicle off and try to restart a few times to no avail. I had somewhere that I had to be so I started to drive. The accelerator pedal did not register at all from zero to all the way down to the floor. The truck was accelerating on its own to about 35 mph. The brakes worked the steering worked the accelerator pedal did not register at all. I parked the vehicle to try it again three or four times each time same. Then I parked for sometime maybe an hour. I tried it and it seemed to drive just fine but with a check engine light. The vehicle through all sorts of low voltage codes. This is unacceptable and should never happen to a vehicle when jump stared. I have never seen a vehicle operate the accelerator without input from the driver and I could literally put the pedal to the floor multiple times and it did not rev up or speed up at all just continue to accelerate on its own accord to about 35 mph. Going down hills the brakes work but as soon as I let off the brakes it would accelerate again. I am very busy and I have not had time to go to the dealership with the issue. I don't have time for them to take my truck for multiple days just to tell me what I already know the 12 volt battery is no good. Now I am stuck with a need to replace a battery on a vehicle that is less than 1-year-old and less than 20,000 miles just unacceptable. They could give me another battery but from what I have read the battery fails time and time again. I also have issues trusting the vehicle now if I do have to jumpstart it.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

vehicle suddenly lost power while travelling at freeway speeds, and decelerated to 35 mph with no speed control. All electrical systems showed warning lights, and I was suddenly driving 30 mph under traffic speeds at a freeway interchange with no escape lanes or emergency lanes for half a mile. I am a paramedic with extensive EVOC training, and I can say with my extensive experience that this was a near-fatal situation, only avoided by the attentive drivers around me, and I almost created chain collisions attempting to maneuver to the side until there was a breakdown lane accessible. Vehicle had all electrical systems in warning, and vehicle automatically set the parking break before I put it in park. I attempted to restart the vehicle several times with no success. The vehicle entered a battery mode which did not allow use of the accelerator pedal, and automatically drove the care at 30-35 mph with only breaking control to control speed. I was able to limp the vehicle off the freeway in the breakdown lane, and move it to a safe location. This event was an extreme hazard to myself and all around me, and I compliment the semi driver behind me on his quick response to the sudden deceleration of my vehicle. Note I own 2 of these vehicles, a 2022 and a 2023, and both have experienced this issue.

Vehicle was travelling on freeway at freeway speeds suddenly without notable cause the vehicle electrical stopped, giving multiple warning in succession, cutting speed rapidly to 35 mph, with no acceleration pedal response and an automatic speed of 35 on battery power with the ability to break, but with no control of speed and only regulated by break pedal. Pulled vehicle to side of road and put in park, parking break automatically engaged. Vehicle had alarms on all automatic systems being off. Turning vehicle on and off did not effect response. After checking engine visually, was able to turn vehicle on with no alarms or issues. This has happened in both my Mavericks and almost led to a fatal collision in the 2022 Maverick.
