The contact owns a 2022 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was parked, the passenger’s side door was opened, and the passenger’s side mirror fell off the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on approximately four occasions, and it was determined that the mirror glass needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired each time. The contact believed that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V174000 (Visibility). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.

Driving in city limits without any other vehicles nearby, the sunroof “exploded”. After immediately pulling over and inspecting the sun roof from outside the glass was buckled up, away from the interior of the car. The glass then all fell to the interior door.

The remedy for Safety Recall 23V-431 (MOST bus FAKRA connectors), performed 8/2023 at Joyce Koons Honda (Manassas, VA), has failed. The recall's stated safety risk, rearview camera failure when MOST communication is lost over 20 seconds, now occurs regularly on my vehicle. Symptoms began early 2025 and have worsened: intermittent loss of the rearview camera in reverse, infotainment reboots, and speaker popping (the warning signs listed in the Part 573 report). On [XXX] the infotainment system and backup camera were unavailable for over 50% of a long drive. Vehicle logs show 822 MOST network signal-loss events from [XXX] to [XXX] (avg ~15/week), predominantly "Tuner_Amplifier_Unit SUDDEN_SIGNAL_OFF" and "Meter SUDDEN_SIGNAL_OFF", the exact failure mode the recall remedy was meant to correct. I can provide the log data (chart and CSV). I reported the recurrence to the dealer on 5/31/2025; they said they could not reproduce it, and vehicle logs were cleared up to that date. I opened American Honda case #[XXX] in 10/2025 and escalated as case #[XXX] in 6/2026. On 7/1/2026 an American Honda representative told me Honda cannot authorize service without a dealer diagnosis and that I must pay out of pocket for diagnosis of this failed recall remedy, with reimbursement only as discretionary "goodwill." This appears inconsistent with 49 U.S.C. 30120, which requires recall remedies at no charge, including when the original remedy was inadequate. Honda revised Service Bulletin 23-046 to Version 3 on 12/18/2024, after my repair, revising parts and repair information, which suggests earlier repairs were performed with superseded parts or procedures. This is a rear-visibility (FMVSS 111) safety defect. Please record this as a failed recall remedy for 23V-431. The outside mirrors had a recall for potential detachment. My driver's side mirror detaches sometimes even after the replacement. When I contacted Honda over this issue, they told me that they can't take my complaint and I should go back to the dealer which replaced it.

The vehicle previously received a manufacturer dash wiring recall repair. After the recall repair was completed, the vehicle began experiencing intermittent and cascading electrical and communication failures across multiple integrated systems. Affected systems include Apple CarPlay, the DVD system, in-vehicle camera systems, CabinWatch, and repeated “MOST network unavailable” error messages. These failures occur intermittently and result in multiple systems disabling simultaneously. The vehicle was inspected by a Honda dealership, which confirmed the issue involves wiring within the dash harness. The dealership stated the affected wiring is not sold or serviceable separately and that correction would require replacement of the entire dash harness, but that this portion of the harness is not included in the original recall coverage. Because these systems share common power and communication pathways, failures cascade across multiple modules. When the camera system fails, rear view camera functionality and related warnings are unavailable while backing up, reducing the driver’s ability to detect obstacles, pedestrians, or children behind the vehicle. When CabinWatch is unavailable, the driver is unable to visually monitor children seated in the rear rows while driving, which affects situational awareness and the ability to respond quickly to unsafe conditions inside the vehicle. These failures also impact driver information systems and create intermittent loss of critical visual feedback, increasing driver distraction as systems drop out unexpectedly while the vehicle is in operation. The condition began after the recall repair and appears to be related to or a continuation of the original recall defect. The vehicle remains available for inspection, and the condition has been confirmed by a manufacturer-authorized dealer.

The noise from the glass shattering caused ear pain, headache, and tinnitus, which has been evaluated by a doctor. State Farm insurance has aided in the situation. The vehicle is in the body shop for repairs. The sunroof indicated no warning prior to the shattering of the glass.

Additionally, the contact stated that the air conditioner had been replaced 4 times due to constant failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving on a highway in California we heard a bang above our heads followed by a cracking sound. I knew immediately that the sunroof exploded based on reading posts about it in a Facebook Odyssey owners group. Fortunately the interior slider/shade was closed and no glass fell on us. There was nothing above us to fall on the roof. There were no cars on front of us to kick up road debris, nor did we see anything airborne. The road was flat and smooth. The temperature was in the low seventies and had not changed in the previous hour. There is no discernable reason the glass would just shatter. We used duct tape to attempt to hold the glass together to 1) keep it out of the passenger compartment 2) weatherseal the car as precipitation was forecasted. We proceeded on our trip and stopped in Flagstaff, AZ. It was disturbing to find out that we had to purchase the glass from a Honda dealer and have it installed by a commercial auto glass business as the dealer doesn't do glass installation. It is ridiculous that I lost a day of travel to a problem that has been around for over a decade with NHTSA reports and a class action lawsuit about the poor quality of Honda sunroofs.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while his wife was driving 20 MPH, attempting to make left turn, she noticed the passenger side rear view mirror was shattered. The contact mention some of the glass did get into the vehicle. No injuries were sustained. a dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and they informed the contact there was no recall for the passenger side rear view mirror. The vehicle was not repaired for the mirror, however the vehicle is currently being serviced for oil change and tire rotation, and brake fluid flush. The contact was relating the failure to an article that he read online regarding this failure for the years 2020-2022. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case number. The failure mileage was 33,000.

For the second time in less than 4 months my rear window has exploded into thousands of pieces. The broken bits explode everywhere. First time was 1.15.25. Second time was 5.3.25.I was parked both times. I had other windows/doors either cracked or open. Both times was during 20mph winds.

Back hatchback glass spontaneously shattered. Nobody was in the vehicle and it was in the garage. So- nobody was hurt; however, this may not have been the case had we been riding down the highway. From my research this is not the first time this has happened with this model vehicle. I plan to contact Honda today, if that is possible. I have pictures that show it could not have been hit by an object. It obviously was under pressure and caved from the sides.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while his wife was dropping off their son at school, the sunroof was open, and the close button was depressed while the son’s hand was hanging out of the sunroof. The sunroof proceeded to close, and the sensors did not prevent the sunroof from continuously attempting to close. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that his wife was forced to push up on the sunroof to free her son's hand, and in the process received a minor cut on her right hand, while the son sustained bruising on his right hand. Medical treatment was needed for the injury. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the sunroof assembly was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

While driving approximately 50 mph, vehicle sunroof glass spontaneously exploded spraying shards of glass in the vehicle. The vehicle was not driven under any bridges, and there were no vehicles within a reasonable distance ahead or behind my vehicle that could have thrown something at the sunroof causing it to break. My safety was put at risk as sharp pieces of glass were sprayed on me, into my clothing, and into the empty child safety seats in the middle row. Upon inspection, the Honda service department denies that this break happened spontaneously and the dealer states that they were able to identify a point of impact on the sunroof as to what caused the glass to break. A photo of said impact has been requested from the service department, but as of this writing has not yet been received. There were not any previous known damages to the sunroof, and there were no warning signs prior to the glass shattering.
