2024 Hyundai Palisade Richmond, TX

AIR BAGS

This vehicle has two open safety recalls that the manufacturer has been unable to repair. Recall 25V607000 (manufacturer campaign 283, seat belt buckles, front row and second row outer) was issued in September 2025. The dealer has attempted the repair since March 2026 and cannot complete it because the buckle assembly is on back order. On a June 2026 repair order the dealer listed the part as "Unrealized" and performed no work. The same repair order also listed recall 26V034000 (manufacturer campaign 292, third row FMVSS 226 ejection mitigation), and that repair was not performed either. The repair order was left in pre-invoice status with no labor or parts, and the odometer moved one mile between check-in and check-out. As of August 2026 both recalls still show Recall Incomplete on the NHTSA VIN lookup. The seat belt recall has been unrepairable on this vehicle for approximately five months. The manufacturer's national consumer affairs office stated in writing on four separate dates in June and July 2026 that the dealership had confirmed the parts were available and that we only needed to schedule an appointment. We scheduled and attended an appointment on the date they instructed, and the part was not there. We then contacted three separate dealerships independently; none had the seat belt buckle part in stock, and each stated it remains on back order with no availability date. The manufacturer has declined to repurchase the vehicle or otherwise resolve the matter. The vehicle is used to transport young children in the second and third rows. It has been driven very little since March 2026 because the family does not consider it safe to rely on with an unrepaired seat belt recall. No crash or injury has occurred. The concern is that a federally mandated safety remedy has been unavailable for months while the manufacturer represents that it is available.

What happened: A franchised Hyundai dealership installed aftermarket window tint on a new 2025 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Night Edition prior to sale without disclosing it as a dealer add-on. When the vehicle was brought in for an active manufacturer safety recall concerning the rear quarter-window glass, the dealership informed us that the official factory recall remedy (applying a protective safety film) cannot adhere to window tint. Because the dealer-installed tint prevents the recall protective film from adhering, the dealership was unable to perform the safety recall unless the window tint was permanently removed or omitted. Component involved: Rear quarter-window glass and safety recall protective film. The vehicle and windows are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The official Hyundai safety recall addresses an issue where the rear quarter-window glass poses a potential safety risk. Because the dealer-installed modification physically prevents the application of the recall safety film, the vehicle remains without the manufacturer's required safety recall remedy. Furthermore, dealership service personnel initially advised us to simply waive or decline the safety-related recall rather than resolving the modification conflict, leaving a potential safety hazard unaddressed. Dealer Confirmation & Inspection: The issue was confirmed by the authorized Hyundai dealership's service department and Service Director in writing. They verified that the recall film and the pre-installed tint are physically incompatible and that the recall remedy was omitted as a result.

My vehicle is subject to open safety recalls involving seatbelt and third-row airbag systems. The seatbelt defect has resulted in seatbelts becoming unlatched while my children were restrained in the vehicle. The third-row airbag recall affects occupant protection in a collision. Hyundai has been unable to repair the vehicle and has informed me they are still searching for parts. My case was opened on April 7, 2026, and no repair date or loaner vehicle has been provided. I transport minor children, including children with special needs, in the second and third rows of this vehicle. I believe the vehicle presents an unreasonable safety risk due to the inability to complete recall repairs within a reasonable timeframe. I opened a case with Hyundai 4/7/26 and have included all emails between us where they tell me there are no parts available and have said they will not assist me with safe transportation for my children. This recall is almost a year old at this point.

Vehicle Information: 2020 Hyundai Palisades VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 74,212 Hyundai is mishandling Recall 292 (NHTSA 26V034000), which involves a failure to comply with FMVSS 226 and creates an occupant ejection risk. The affected seating position in my vehicle is used by my [XXX] child and is unsafe until a remedy exists. Hyundai has no remedy available and has refused to provide any written safety guidance or interim transportation. Beginning 5/29/26, I requested that Hyundai open a new case specifically for Recall 292. Hyundai has refused to open a case despite multiple written requests. Instead, they repeatedly redirected me to phone numbers and generic inboxes, avoiding written communication. They have not answered whether the vehicle is safe to operate, whether the affected seat can be used, or whether they will provide a loaner or rental while no remedy exists. Hyundai also claimed to have sent a Zelle reimbursement on 5/28/26 but refused to provide a timestamp needed for bank verification. When asked again in writing, Hyundai ignored the question and repeated the same deflection responses. Across multiple emails (5/29, 6/1, 6/1), Hyundai ignored every recall‑related question, refused to provide written guidance, refused to open a case, and refused to address the child‑safety implications. This appears to be a pattern of procedural and substantive non‑compliance with recall communication requirements. I previously had to involve the Maryland Attorney General regarding Hyundai’s handling of another safety‑related issue on this vehicle, indicating a broader pattern of evasive behavior. We purchased our palisade in October of 2020 brand new from the dealer. On march 5th 2021 @ 7946 miles on the car we took it in to the dealer because the passenger rear seatbelt had released on its own when braking hard with a child buckled in a booster seat. They said they could not verify the problem. Then again on April 22 2022 @ 37,924 miles we again took the palisade back in because the driver rear middle row seat was showing buckled but it was not buckled and upon wiggling the seat belt it was turning on and off and not buckling. At that time they found the middle row left seat belt buckle not latching intermediately and said it was working again. Since then it has still continued to come unbuckled to this day. I have recently received from Hyundai a National safety recall about the issue and it's going back in for a third time now to resolve the issue. As of currently they will not be able to fix the issue because they do not have the parts and do not have an estimate of when they will be available. I also received a new National safety recall for the side curtain airbags in the third row not to the standards and are a safety concern. This vehicle has been a safety concern from the day I drove it off the lot and thank god only that we are good drivers we did not get into a accident the many many times we have been in the vehicle full of people as it could have been catastrophic and even have cause multiple possible deaths due to the failure of these different equipment during a accident. At this time this vehicle is not safe for my family to be in.

2023 Hyundai Palisade Windermere, FL

AIR BAGS

I received a recall notice on 3/19/2026 which stated my 2023 Palisade failed to meet safety standards due to "ejection mitigation." I called Hyundai directly for information after the dealership I purchased the car from had no information for me. Hyundai's customer service representative told me the third row was not safe for occupants and that I should not use it because in a roll over it could cause injury or death. She said there haven't been any reported yet but still, don't use it. They did not have a timeframe when it would be fixed. I called my dealership again on 5/20/2026 and asked for any information, compensation, a buyback, or if anything was available to me and they said "we are in the same boat as you. We haven't been able to sell our stock for 4 months. You've only had your notice for 2 months but we've been dealing with this for 4. Some people have been trading their cars in but other than that, there's nothing we can do for you." They said to call Hyundai directly. I called Hyundai and was told there was no information, no remedy, no compensation for the loss of use, no loaner car, or any other options. The representative then said "unfortunately we also cannot escalate your case because there have been no fatalities yet." I'm filing this complaint because it has been over 60 days since I received notice that my vehicle is unsafe, which has resulted in the total loss of use for 3 seats and yet I am still making the full monthly payments on this vehicle to the dealership. And, neither the dealership nor Hyundai is offering any remedy or assistance in any way. I should not have to wait until there is a fatality for Hyundai to act on my vehicles recall and offer some sort or resolution or compensation. I paid full price for the vehicle and should have use of all the vehicle or be given an alternative. Thank you

AIR BAGS

The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V034000 (Air Bags) and 25V607000 (Seat Belts); however, the parts for the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable timeframe for the remedies to be available. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds and while idle, the vehicle would shake. The contact had checked oil levels and noticed that there was no oil in the vehicle. The contact had to begin changing the oil every 1,000 miles. The contact looked up the CarFax and learned that the vehicle had a history of oil consumption issues. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed that the remedies were not available and then diagnosed an oil consumption failure. The dealer completed an oil consumption and cleaning and advised them to drive 1,000 miles to receive assistance for the engine, as it was at risk of seizing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact that the failure was not covered by recall or warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

There is an ejection mitigation recall and no remedy from Hyundai in the near future. This sets us up for future injury to my children in the event we are in an accident. This also will result in a lawsuit by us to Hyundai should I or my children are injured or maimed in the event thus vehicle does not properly protect us in an accident. The seat belts are recalled as well and parts are on back order. The solution from Hyundai is to continue to use the defective belts with minor children and hope for the best. This is simply unacceptable.

2020 Hyundai Palisade Lusby, MD

AIR BAGS

I am filing this complaint regarding my 2020 Hyundai Palisade affected by the recall involving the third-row seat airbag not deploying properly and the risk of occupant ejection during a rollover accident. I purchased this vehicle in December 2024 and have experienced a pattern of ongoing mechanical failures, repeated dealership visits, lack of manufacturer support, diminished use of my vehicle, and financial hardship throughout ownership. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have completed more than 20 oil consumption tests requiring repeated 1,000-mile dealership visits. The issues became so severe that both the engine and transmission ultimately had to be replaced. The unresolved recall has now created an additional major safety concern for my family. Hyundai indicated a remedy was expected by the end of March, but as of now there is still no repair available. This has significantly limited the safe use of my vehicle because the third-row seating cannot safely be used for passengers due to the risk associated with the defective airbag system. This delay is causing financial hardship as well. I intended to use this vehicle through Turo for supplemental income but cannot do so because of the active safety recall. I also have upcoming family travel requiring use of the third row and may now be forced to rent another SUV at my own expense. I currently owe approximately $30,000 on this vehicle and am facing substantial negative equity due to the vehicle’s extensive repair history and unresolved recall status. I am concerned about both passenger safety and Hyundai’s prolonged delay in providing a remedy for a serious safety issue. I am requesting that this complaint be documented as part of the ongoing investigation and oversight regarding Hyundai’s handling of this recall and the delay in providing repairs to consumers.
