While driving the rear tail gate drops. This has happened on several different occasions. Once it dropped while towing a trailer and I damaged the tailgate on the trailer tongue jack. There is no indicator in the cab of the truck to inform you that the tailgate has dropped, unlike the door indicators. I am positive that the tailgate was up and latched, so it’s not an instance where the tailgate is not fully closed. This could lead to other vehicles or motorcycle riders hitting objects that may fall out of the open tailgate, causing damage or injuries.

The tailgate now requires excessive force to open and close throughout its entire range of motion. An independent body shop inspected the vehicle and determined that the hinge assembly requires replacement. The vehicle and failed component are available for inspection upon request. This creates a risk of injury while operating the tailgate and raises concerns regarding the continued safe operation of the tailgate assembly. The failure of a primary tailgate support component could also affect the tailgate's ability to function as intended. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The problem was inspected and confirmed by an independent body shop. The shop determined that the tailgate hinge assembly has failed and requires replacement. At this time, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. The only symptom was a progressive increase in the force required to open and close the tailgate. I started to notice the issue about a year ago. Since then, the condition gradually worsened over time to the point where when I open it and the tailgate pops out of position.

There was a tailgate recall for the tailgate falling down potentially spilling cargo onto the road. The dealership Autonation Dodge in [XXX] tried fixing the recall multiple times but the tailgate kept falling down after they tried to fix it 2 or 3 times. Now they're trying to make me sign a service fee authorization which I don't agree with because either the recall isn't fixed, or there are other issues that can cause the tailgate to fall down which should be included in this recall because they can potentially cause the same dangerous situation which caused the recall. The contact stated that while standing directly behind the tailgate, the contact heard an audible "click", and the tailgate independently unlatched and opened, striking the contact's chest, and the contact was forcefully knocked to the ground. Due to the severity of the impact and injury, the contact was immobilized on the ground for 45 minutes while calling out for emergency assistance. The contact sustained a broken femur. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V904000 (Structure), in which the vehicle did not have the recall remedy performed to prevent the failure. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the dealer determined that no repair was needed and marked the recall as complete. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer for a reinspection, with a diagnostic fee included, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact mentioned being concerned for their safety when driving the vehicle. The failure mileage was 35,272.

My vehicle was repaired for a known recall related to the tailgate unlatching issue. NHTSA ID Number: 22V904000 This repair was completed, and then my tailgate continued to open unexpectedly. I have taken it back to the dealership after damage was caused to my tailgate when it fell while I was driving. They have denied my claim and continue to advise that it was repaired when, in fact, I have still been experiencing issues with it. I would like to have my tailgate damage repaired and realgind properly.

In addition, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel independently turned to the left. Upon further inspection, the contact's husband noticed that there was a bolt that was loosened on the driver’s side of the steering gearbox. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a hairline fracture on the subframe due to rust. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. I bought my 2022 Ram 2500 brand new as a factory order. It is currently in the shop at Ron Lewis Ram in Cranberry Twp, PA to get a rear window water leak diagnosed. The dealer has told me that the rear windows frame is cracked in multiple places and wont be covered by my 8 year/125,000 mile max care warranty. I told them that it should be covered since its apparently a factory defect that caused the issue. They informed me that since I am at 55,000 miles, Ram wont pay to repair the issue, that I had until 36,000 miles to have this issue and have it repaired. Through the power of Google search, I was able to find that countless Ram 1500 trucks have had this identical issue and a TSB exists for it. The TSB for the Ram 1500 (23-098-23 Rev A) states that it was caused by a manufacturing issue, that the repairs will be made, and that Ram will cover the repair until the truck hits 8 years/ 150,000 miles. I cannot find a TSB for the 2500 trucks that have the identical issue and I can't believe for a second that I have the only 2500 Ram on the road with this issue, especially after seeing the identical problem with the Ram 1500 and even the Jeep Gladiator, all from the same manufacturer of Stellantis- who owns both Ram and Jeep. The dealer says that I will have to pay a couple of thousand dollars out of pocket to have these repairs made on my own.

Front parking sensors always being disabled due to something. Keeps saying wipe sensors. Even after going through wash bays. Tailgate has been opening on its own multiple times while driving, while going through car wash, and just sitting still. Try to close it, and it pops back open instantly. Have to do this several times and hope it stays closed. Now the tailgate won't open at all via the handle. You must use the remote or in cab button. What's annoying and dangerous is it opening while hauling items and it opens with out you knowing driving down the road. I have lost items on the highway a few times. Furthermore, the fact that there is no warning device on the dash to indicate it's open is a very serious issue. With these electronic tailgates, it should be a standard that there is a open gate indicator to warn drivers. It's there for every other door, why not the bed door?

Hood vibrates wildly with high winds/driving over 65mph/ or tractor trailer passing by on a 2 lane rd. Many times I pull over on the side of the highway inspecting the hood to see if its open but no the latch is closed. Upon research on Ram truck forums this appears to be a massive problem. the 1500 series has a recall TSB 23-029-18 issued but not the 2500, 3500 series. The aluminum hood is flimsy and after some time vibrating it looks like the latch could eventually give way and the hood could open while driving. I would not have bought a newer Ram 2500 had I known of this issue. Just stopping on the side of the highway to inspect the hood is dangerous enough. my intention was to buy a solid truck not a paper tiger of a truck. Mark my words this will end up being a class action lawsuit. hopefully no dies from this faulty engineering.

The good flutters at speed over 65 mph, when there's a headwind or crosswind. The hood flutters very badly when being passed head-on by a semi truck. Dodge (and most truck manufacturers) went to aluminum bonded hoods, as opposed to steel- the aluminum hoods have significant lift. I went to ram- they blamed the flutter on my big deflector. A simple search shows hundreds of complaints. I personally worry about hood latch failure or failure of the loop that locks into the hood latch itself- causing accidents. RAM is mute on the subject.

Incident Date: [XXX]: The frame broke on both sides just behind the crew cab while traveling on a road at 5 mph. No rust present, no truck bed load. RAM dealership in Kingman, Arizona states on [XXX], through a diagnostic examination of this vehicle on behalf of my insurance company and me, they do not know why the frame broke. USAA Insurance Claim: Filed on [XXX] and denied coverage on [XXX]. Safety issue: 15 minutes earlier I had been traveling on the highway at 70 mph. The insurance adjuster made a statement that if the frame had broken while I was on the highway traveling at 70 mph, I would have died.
