On Feb 3, 2026, I purchased a used 2023 Ram 2500 with ~40,107 miles from a large national used car dealer for ~$46,000. I drove the vehicle with my son as a passenger. On Feb 4, I had it inspected by a third-party shop. Both upper ball joints were worn beyond spec — the wheel moved in and out by hand on the lift, indicating imminent wheel separation risk. All 4 shocks and both front struts were leaking oil. All 4 tires were cupped from prolonged suspension failure. Front brakes near end of life. Estimated repairs: ~$7,000. These components do not fail at 40K miles under normal use, indicating prior abuse/neglect that existed before sale. The dealer's pre-sale inspection failed to catch an obvious, critical safety defect. I wanted to keep the vehicle and have it repaired. The dealer refused to authorize outside repairs, insisted on doing it themselves, but could not even look at it for over a week. They did not request a copy of the inspection report documenting the defects. I was forced to return the vehicle the same day. The ball joints posed a wheel separation hazard. My son and I were exposed to this risk on public roads. This raises serious concerns about the adequacy of this dealer's vehicle inspection process.

Front right wheel detached while driving on the highway - going about 45mph due to snow on roadway. We are glad no one was injured. All the lugs had come off the wheel. Now need wheel and rim replacement, and new hub assembly and lugs. It will be repaired at the dealer where we bought the vehicle new, Ed Tomko in Avon, OH. The service dept there has looked at it and gave the diagnosis. No warning indicators. Reporting because we saw a similar issue as recall for different lines of the same year Ram trucks. Wondering if the 2500 is also in that situation.

I need this now.

On 11/4/25 Pepboys Tires in Pelham AL installed four new tires on my truck - BF Goodrich K03 tires. After driving 15 miles, the driver rear vehicle wheel and tire detached from the hub. All 8 lugnuts were missing and obviously had not been tightened or torqued to specifications. While Pepboys is performing the repair to my truck at a cost of approximately $2000, they seem uninterested in the risk and danger they are creating with such poor performance and lack of quality controls. They endangered me and everyone that was around me on Hwy 31 when the wheel detached. They need to be held accountable for their poor workmanship and danger to the public. It is not acceptable to me that they said that location had not had a wheel detach from a vehicle following service for 3 years. They must be better. And, must be held accountable. I have documentation of the service and pictures available for your investigation.

Bought the truck brand new. After 8k miles front tires started cupping. Took it in and was told it was simply due to "soft" factory tires. After 17k miles tires were gone and bought a more expensive higher mileage warranty tire. Rotated tires at 7k miles, After about 3k miles same thing happened. Had an alignment done prior to the new tires and was told it was perfect. All signs point to alignment or front end suspension, ball joint or tie rods. After 3 days sitting in the shop I was once again told nothing is wrong, alignment is perfect and it was my fault, either driving habits, not rotating tires every 2500 miles, ect. After picking the truck up and driving less than 20 miles the transmission started slipping. Call the dealership about the concern and they have ceased communication. Was advised to go online for an appointment which is more than 2 weeks out. Upon reviewing the specs for the alignment, it appears they are relying on specs for a standard ram 2500 vs a ram rebel which has a factory lift with different specs. I did question this and was told the alignment is perfect. The dealership takes no responsibility nor any urgency with catastrophic issues

Contacted FCA Recall Assistant Center on 10/23/2024 and filed a complaint against Corwin Chrysler Dodge, 3306 E. Kearney St., Springfield, MO., 65803 regarding Safety Recalls that Corwin Chrysler Dodge fraudulently checked off in the system as fixed, but they were not fixed. Case# [XXX] was assigned to the complaint. Keith is the assigned CS Manager and can be reached at 844-378-0575, ext: 3124. Keith informed us today that his hands are tied at this time and he doesn't have the authority to uncheck the safety recalls in the system that would be up to the dealership Corwin Chrysler Dodge in Springfield, MO. As of today, January 15, 2025, we still do not have resolution to this issue. We were informed to reach out to James River Dodge RAM, Ozark, Missouri. List of recalls below that we are aware that were completed by Corwin Chrysler Dodge of Springfield, Missouri. 1. Water Pump Recall T51 (Corwin Chrysler Dodge completed) 2. New Tailgate Latch U74 (Corwin Chrysler Dodge completed) We spoke to David, Service Manager, on 10/25/2024 and was informed since the system shows everything regarding the safety recalls for this vehicle are checked off in the system as fixed by Corwin Chrysler as completed. David told us that the safety recalls in the system that are showing fixed would need to be unchecked in the system in order for his team to recheck all the recalls on this vehicle and get paid for the service, because Corwin was paid for fixing the safety recalls when they checked them off in the system. 1. Steering - Drag Linkage Welded V06 (James River Chrysler could visibly see this was completed (10/25/2024) 2. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (as mandated by NHTSA) fails to function properly. The system can be inspected upon request by the NHTSA because the local dealerships cannot determine the problem and refuse to contact the manufacture. Operating vehicles with over/under inflated ties causes numerous driving difficulties as well as premature and unnecessary wear on the tires. If it wasn't a concern the NHTSA wouldn't have mandated TPMS. Dealership refuses to acknowledge there is a problem. They just inflate the tires to the manufacturer recommendation and say its fixed. 2-3 days later the system tells me I have low tires. When I Check my tires with a Digital Gauge the tire pressure is correct. Problem started 10 months after purchasing this vehicle new in Jan 2022. After confirming with the dealership the installation of aftermarket Tires/Wheels would NOT void my warranty, I had the Dealer installed a set of aftermarket tires/wheels. They were supposed to remove the TP Sensors from each tire/wheel and installed in the new aftermarket tires/wheels. At this point I don't know if its a Tire Sensor problem, a problem with the system ( I believe behind the rear seat) that relays the information to the Dash Cluster or the Uconnect5 System where the Tire Pressures can be set. Dealer states I MUST inflate ties to the Tire Pressure Label installed by the manufacture on the Door Jam. I know from 23 year military transportation experience and having a friend loose his life because of over inflating a tire in the Vehicle Maintenance Shop as well as a Commercial Driver License Instructor You always use the information on the side of the tire provided by the Tire Manufacture. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System is accessed through the UConnect5 Computer System where the owner can program features associated with the vehicle such as Temperature, Lighting, Radio Stations, Tire Pressures and a host of other features.

We have experienced the "death wobble" twice now in our 2009 Dodge Ram 2500. It is a documented issue with Dodge trucks and associated with multiple prior recalls. At highway speeds, the vehicle suddenly begins shaking violently and uncontrollably, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. It feels like the front axle just broke in half, but the problem is difficult to diagnose. The first time it happened, the truck was almost due for inspection, so we took it for an inspection hoping that the cause would be discovered/repaired. The shop replaced a ball joint (left upper); we were hoping that was the cause. After it passed the state safety inspection, I took it out on the same stretch of road where I had trouble earlier and it seemed fine. Then, a few weeks later, the death wobble struck back - this time with my wife driving and our six-month-old daughter in the back seat. It was my worst nightmare that it happened with my daughter in the truck. Young children are so fragile and their brains are still developing. It's a miracle she survived; hopefully she didn't suffer any brain damage that will manifest itself in the future. I found NHTSA Recall ID 11V350000, which pertains to 2003-11 Dodge Ram 2500 trucks. I called Dodge multiple times and spoke with our local dealer. They won't do anything, because "Your VIN doesn't show in our system." To me, this is a documented safety problem that nearly killed my daughter, and Dodge needs to make it right (our truck fit the recall description). I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Please investigate and use your authorities to persuade Dodge to do the right thing.

The ABS lights and traction control lights alarm keeps flashing on and off at random intervals) on my 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 with 18,000 miles on it. When the ABS Light and traction control light come on intermittently it also disengaged the cruise controls. At first it was here and there or when I hit a bump or turning the steering wheel right or left. Thought it was possibly a wheel speed sensor. Checked code with scanner and got “ABS pump motor control-general electrical failure”. Thought the issue was the ABS module based on my scan. I tried to find the part I had to call all over the place due to supply chain issues. When I spoke to a parts person from a dealership I explained the issue and code. He stated that the General Electric code failure was the HCU and not the ABS module. It’s bad when your cruising at the speed limit of 70 mile an you and the cruise control quits working an you ned to react to the traffic but, my real concern is that the ABS won't work and could cause the truck wheels to lock-up during a panic/hard stop.

On the night of 30 Oct 2023, I was travelling through St George, Utah on my way back to Las Vegas. I was in the middle lane of traffic doing roughly 75 mph when my passenger side front tire lost all pressure and shredded apart which nearly caused me to slam into the side of a tractor/trailer. After looking over the tire/wheel to determine what caused the failure I noticed the side of the valve stem had blown out. This is the second valve stem where the side of the stem blew out. After researching online it appears this is a recurring problem although something I have never experienced in 30+ years of driving. I have not brought the wheel/valve stem to anyone to inspect the item since the failure is obvious (see pics). There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms.

2014 RAM 2500 Wesson, MS

WHEELS

On the night of September 15, 2023, I was driving home from work around 8:00 pm. I hit a bump on the interstate and my truck started the "death wobble". Having driven a Dodge truck for a very long time, I was aware of what was going on. The vehicle starts to "wobble" uncontrollably until you come to a complete stop. I was doing 70 mph and in the left lane when this happened, it immediately pulled me to the ditch in the right lane on the side of the interstate. I researched the problem and found that it had an R46 recall and the bracket in said recall had been ripped from the frame and broken in half. I hauled the vehicle to Jeff Wilson Chrysler in Brookhaven and they sent pictures to whomever for the recall and it was denied for some reason. The Service Manager then sent it to someone else because he thought that it should have been fixed based off what he has seen. I then called 1-800-992-1997 to speak with someone about my issues and they proceeded to tell me that my recall had already been fixed. When I or Mr. Shane at Jeff Wilson types it in, it clearly states the R46 recall has not been fixed. There is nothing on this bar or bracket that has been done. This bracket breaking almost caused me to wreck and I cant get any help in getting it resolved. Mr. Shane at Jeff Wilson in Brookhaven has been nothing but fantastic in this matter and continues to try and help me get it resolved with no help coming from anyone above the dealership. The vehicle is undrivable and has been out of commission for 5 weeks now with no progress. Any help in this matter would be appreciated.
