Please refer to Problema Espaldar de Asiento -Jun 07, 2026 - Attached Safety Concern Description: The rear seat backrest has a manufacturing defect that prevents the seat from properly locking into the secured position. The seat backrest remains loose and does not provide confidence that it is fully latched. To close or secure the seat, excessive force is required. Even after applying force, the issue persists, and the mechanism causes damage to the rear interior area of the vehicle. This condition may represent a safety risk because the rear seat backrest may not remain properly secured during vehicle operation or in the event of a crash. I am requesting a safety evaluation of this condition as a potential manufacturing defect.

Description On your vehicle it is possible that the trailer module trm may lose communication at vehicle start-up. If a trm loss of communication occurs and a trailer is connected to the vehicle, trailer stop lamps and turn signal indicators will not function. Additionally, for trailers equipped with electronic trailer brakes, the trailer brakes will not function. This loss of communication can occur with-or-without a trailer connected to the vehicle and can only initiate at vehicle start-up. If this occurs, a trailer brake module fault notification will pop-up on the vehicles instrument panel cluster. The vehicle brake and turn signal lamps will continue to operate normally and are not affected by this trm fault. If you do not tow with your vehicle, you may wait for ota deployment for your vehicle remedy. Safety Risk This may result in inoperable trailer brake lights, trailer turn signals and trailer braking functions that can reduce a drivers ability to control an attached trailer and make the trailer less visible to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy Software is available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to reprogram your vehicles trm free of charge. On March 17, 2026, while my vehicle was parked, I observed light smoke coming from the rear seatback, followed by a visible burn/melt mark in the seat fabric. I believe this occurred due to concentrated reflection of sunlight from nearby house windows onto the rear seat. There were no external heat sources or open flames in the vehicle, and the truck was parked under normal residential conditions. Concerned about the risk of fire and potential harm to my family and other occupants, I immediately reported this incident to my Ford dealership and Ford customer service. The dealer inspected the vehicle, and Ford reviewed the matter, but they declined to cover the repair or acknowledge it as a safety-related defect, citing their internal analysis. As of this writing, I am not aware of any recalls or official safety communications addressing this type of sun‑induced smoking or burning of interior seats in the Ford Ranger or other Ford vehicles. My concern is that if a focused beam of reflected sunlight can cause the seat material to smoke and burn under ordinary parking conditions, this may present a fire hazard not only in my vehicle but potentially in other Ford vehicles that use the same or similar interior materials. This could pose a serious risk to consumers, especially if such an event occurred while passengers were in the rear seat or if the vehicle was parked near flammable items. I respectfully request that NHTSA: 1. Document this incident as a potential safety concern. 2. Evaluate whether the interior seat materials used in the 2021 Ford Ranger (and any related Ford models) meet appropriate safety standards when exposed to concentrated sunlight or heat. 3. Consider opening an investigation if similar complaints exist or emerge, so that consumers can be protected and appropriately informed. Driving home from the dealer I would hear a knock coming from the rear seat area, each time I stopped at a light or stop sign. I thought the jack was loose. When I arrived at home I went to check the jack and realized the seat back in the rear seat was not latched. When my kids ride in the rear seat they were saying weeee every time I stopped, as the seat back would move forward. I have tried on several occasions to latch the seat with no luck. I am making an appointment today for repair.

I have developed severe chronic neck and back pain due to the shape and position of the headrests in this vehicle (as well as my wife’s 2024 Hyundai Kona). There is no position that does no cause pain, and I am forced to remove them entirely, or lean forward and not use them, causing a lack of support and different muscle tension. This has been confirmed by my physical therapist. Due to NHTSA requirements, I cannot buy a newer vehicle that does not cause this condition, nor even purchase aftermarket replacements. Being forced to drive without a headrest at all is much more dangerous than having a comfortable option. I have to drive a lot to work and shop because I live in the mountains. Please help. I’m one of millions with this problem.

The head rest leans out so far at the top that my chin hits my chest. It doesn't matter if I try to lean the seat back of forth. Please evaluate the head rest as I believe it will cause serious injury as there is no back and forth adjustment. This can cause severe damage to the neck. You insisted on head rests for safety and I am very concerned about this. Also they are leaning the window so far back that with the sun out its impossible to see out with the reflections from the dash board showing in the window. The glare though the side drivers window is blocking me from seeing the odometer and gages. I really don't understand the use of so much computer that distracts drivers. If this is not your department send it to might be of assistance. I am talking about the 2025 ford ranger truck.

I HAD NOTED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO THAT THE BACK OS THE BACK SEAT WOULD NOT LATCH LEAVING IT TO SWING FORWARD WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND SLAMMING BACK WHEN ACCELERATING. WHEN I CHECKED THE LATCH I COULD NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. I BROUGHT MY TRUCK INTO CAPITAL FORD IN CARSON CITY FOR SOME OTHER PROBLEM AND ASKED THEM TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE SEAT PROBLEM. AFTER OTHER REPAIRS WERE DONE, MY SERVICE ADVISOR, JOSEPH CONROY ADVISED ME THAT THE REPAIR OF THE SEAT WOULD COST APPROX. $400-$500. CONROY ALSO RELATED THAT THE LATCH PART WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE PART TO FAIL AND HE REPLIED BY SAYING THAT THE PART HAD GONE THROUGH A RE-DESIGN AND A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE REPAIR WAS SENT OUT TO DEALERSHIPS. WHEN I SAID THAT THIS APPEARED TO BE A SAFETY RECALL ISSUE AND THAT I HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF THE PART REDESIGN, HE TOLD ME TO CONTACT FORD. I CONTACTED FORD AND WAS ASSIGNED TO "LAPORTIA" AS MY ADVISOR AND SHE IS WORKING TOWARDS SECURING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, BUT NO INTEREST IN THE SAFETY ASPECT OF THE COMPLAINT. MY TRUCK'S ORIGINAL WARRANTY ENDED JUST THIS PAST DECEMBER BUT IS STILL COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY.

The rear seats in the 2024/2025 Ford Raptor Ranger are connected to the rear of the cab via a single latch. The single latch does not always latch. I noticed it had failed to properly latch the next day when I was installing my car seats. I figured it was user error, but than I re-tested it and struggled to properly latch it. The danger is the rear portion of the seat could suddenly fold forward during a hard break or accident, resulting in serious injury to rear passengers.

Rear seat latch does not work resulting in seat collapsing forward when braking and would also collapse in an accident. Seat belts and child car seat would not be functional. Appears to be a common problem based on our research on the Internet. Salinas Ford dealership rep stated repairs are not covered because it is not a seat belt. This vehicle only has 2,758 miles, even though it is a 2020.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30-40 MPH, there was an abnormal burning odor detected. The contact stated that the front driver’s side heated seat had burned a two-inch hole into the seat, the upper back rest, and heating pad. The contact also noticed that the heated seat was inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no blown fuses. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, a service date was not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact repaired the seat himself. As I was driving down the road I began I started to smell something unusual - in a way it smelled like burning plastic and/or anti-freeze. I then began to feel quite a bit more heat than usual on my lower back, so much I knew something was wrong. I pulled my truck over, got out and as soon as I got out my heated seat started producing smoke where I believe the main heated seat coil is. Within seconds a flame burst out from the seat. I luckily had a drink in my cup holder that I reached over to grab & pour out on the flame. It kept smoking after I dumped the liquid on it. I then grabbed a water bottle from my back seat & was able to put the fire out completely. In conclusion, my 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat Crew Cab heated seat caught fire while it was turned on, on 9/15/2022 at approx. 9:00a.

The backrest (back seat) no longer latches unless you very firmly push it backwards. I called the Ford dealer. The service person told me that he had the the same problem with his Ranger and that it was a common problem with the Ranger. In his words, he told me to slam the backrest backward - -which I did and then it latched. This a safety issue. Very easy to think that it is latched unless you pull the backrest forward. I checked the Internet. Other people have had the same problem. Especially after placing some weight on the seat cushion. My problem began after my 8 year old grandson simply sat on the seat.

This vehicle is brand new. 250 miles. Seat belt warning indicator remains on for rear passenger side and will not clear. No one is in the seat. Tried buckling seat belt for rear passenger seat - warning cleared. Unbuckled and warning appears again and won't clear. There are no objects on the seat. Shut vehicle off and dismounted. Got back in and restarted vehicle. Seat belt warning indicator remains on for rear passenger side and will not clear. FORD has nothing documented for clearing this. Dealership will not acknowledge this and does not have a 'fix'. The resulting warning may now affect how safety/collision systems will operate in an actual collision.

2019 FORD RANGER XLTREAR SEAT BACK LOCKING PROBLEM. FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB ON THE DIFFICULTY OF LOCKING THE REAR SEAT BACK INTO A LOCKED POSITION.. EXTREME CLOSING FORCE MUST BE USED TO SECURELY LOCK THE SEATBACK. IF NOT PROPERLY LOCKED THE SEAT BACK WOULD PROBABLY PITCH FORWARD IN EXTREME BRAKING OR A ACCIDENT. THIS COULD CAYSE INJURY TO REAR SEAT PASSENGERS OR OTHERS IN THE VEHICLE. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A FULL SIZE ADULT MALE USING ALL POSSIBLE FORCE TO LATCH THE SEATBACK. FORD FORUMS HAVE ALSO EXPRESSED THIS PROBLEM. AS IT IS A LIFESAVING ISSUE THE NTHSA SHOULD IMMEDIATELY FORCE FORD TO DESIGN A PROPER LATCHING MECHANISM BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED AND THEN HAVE IT INSTALLED FOR FREE AS A SAFETY ISSUE. FORD CURRENT SOLUTION IS NOT A PROPER REPAIR. SHAVING THE BUMPER GROMMETS A TINY BIT IS NOT THE SOLUTION..SURELY FORDS OTHER TRUCK VEHICLES DONT HAVE THIS ISSUE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ASAP BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST. THANK YOU
