I am reporting a safety defect involving Continental CrossContact LX Sport tires, size 245/50 R20 used on my 2021 Honda Pilot. These tires are not currently included in the existing Continental recalls, but they are showing the same types of failures described in NHTSA recall 21T‑001 and related Continental bulletins. Specifically, my tires developed cracking/localized tread wear/vibration and visible separation in the tread/sidewall area. This matches the recall descriptions of carcass breaks and belt‑edge separations that can cause sudden air loss or partial/full tread and belt loss, leading to loss of vehicle control and increased risk of a crash. I believe these tires were manufactured with a similar defect and should be investigated and included in the recall.

245 /50 R20 : size My dealership told me I needed to change all my tires and provided pics showing pieces of my tires (3 tires) missing. This was present in all 3 of the original tires- same dot and sizes. The 4th tire has already been replaced. My Honda pilot mileage is 29000 miles, purchased new in November 2021. My pilot is garage parked and is not often exposed to the elements for long periods of time.

There are two occurances 1-8/2/2025 While traveling down highway 69 over I40, at 75 MPH, the right rear tire blew. It was not a slow release, but rather a boom and then all kinds of noise. The car was hard to control but there was no accident. Had it been a front tire....The sidewall blew out. If I had run over something, my wife or I should have seen it and they tear would be in the other direction. I replaced two tires at that point. 2-8/25/2025 While in Florida, 1000 miles from home, I noticed I had a low left rear (driver) tire. I got some air to last overnight and parked the car. The next morning I drove to a tire shop. They pull the wheel off and let the air out of the tire. When they used the machine to break the bead lose, the whole flat square metal piece pushed through the sidewall of the tire. I have pictures of both tires. The tire are actually a Hankook DynaPro HP2 but was not listed. They are a 255/60R18 108H.

My 2025 Honda Pilot Black Edition came with these Bridgestone Alenza Sport A/S tires. They tramline horrendously on grooved concrete roads (most interstates where I live) to the point of being extremely dangerous. The vehicle jerks side to side to where it is throwing the vehicle off balance at highway speeds and this also causes nausea for the driver and passengers. The tires have exhibited this behavior since the vehicle was brand new and a quick google search turned up numerous reports of others experiencing the same tramlining behavior.

Size of tires: 245/59 R 20, 102H DOT serial #: [XXX] The 2021 Honda Pilot came equipped with the tires in this discussion. At 30,000 mile check up at dealership, we were informed the 3 tires with this DOT number had “dry rot” and needed replacing. A fourth tire with a different number is in excellent shape. These tires are NOT on a recall list. Many of the Continental tires of this type have been recalled. Obviously since 3/4 tires are falling apart, it is not environmental or from road conditions or driving. These tires should be included in a recall. They are not safe and should last much longer than 30,000 miles of wear. We are going to have to replace them as soon as possible so they are not available for inspection. If they had failed, we could have crashed. There were no warning messages or lamps. I noticed they looked odd but it was just confirmed last week during the service visit that they had “dry rot” and needed replacing. Hello, I have a set of 4 Bridgestone Dueler LX tires that have been cracking for the past 8 months and now appear to be separating in between the treads. I’ve had America’s Tire Company look at them within the past 6 months and they always seem to state that it’s normal, but the cracks seem to be getting bigger and bigger. The wheels vibrate some, even after several re-balancing attempts. The tires were purchased on [XXX] and I don’t feel safe driving on these tires anymore to the point that I really hesitate driving on the freeway now for that they might fail/explode. I will be submitting a call/claim directly with Bridgestone at 800-847-3272 tomorrow as well. The tire size is P235/70R 16. There has been no incident yet, so I will use today's date. Traveling at 35mph in village. my passenger and I attest there was no road hazard. The tire popped and I managed to drive about 70 yards to a parking lot to change my tire. it had a clean tear on the inside sidewall. The tear had no marks made against it. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the tire was replaced. The tire was the original equipment. CONTINENTAL CROSS CONTACT LX SPORT 245/50 R 20 102H M.S. RADIAL TUBELESS Vehicle was parked after a ride on Thu 11/23 with no problems. Vehicle was parked in a apartment lot with no issues previous night. Next day morning on 11/24, Rear Passenger tire is deflated fully with no air. Upon checking there are 2 cracks observed on the sidewall of the tire with no air left. There was no accident or any sidewall curb hit at all. On 6/23/23, my wife was driving on a street & was changing lanes (from left to right) when the driver-side rear tire suddenly ruptured. She heard a loud pop coming from the tire and immediately scanned for a car impact or debris on the road—but neither was present. The vehicles within her proximity yielded to allow her to pull out of the street and into a safe parking lot. Since our children were in the car, she confirmed that they were safe. Upon my arrival, I could see a visible tear in the side wall of the tire. It is apparent that the tire side wall tore so rapidly that when the rim hit the asphault of the street its impact was so hard— that it left a gaping hole in the rim! Our family’s safety was in jeopardy because had vehicles not yielded , a crash may have been inevitable. Our local dealer has recommended reaching out to the tire manufacturer for a possible claim. There were no warning lamps prior to this incident.

Driving 2008 Honda Pilot with Firestone WeatherGrip P235/70R16 at 70mph on the interstate, the rear driver tire failed causing almost instant and complete deflation. The tires have been maintained properly, to include rotation and proper inflation. The tires have less than 10k miles (65k mile warranty) and are one year old. Based on my knowledge, experience and evidence (attached photo), this failure was not caused by common road hazards, misapplication or abuse. Rather, the failure is a result of material failure of the tire.

I was researching recalls on my 2021 Honda Pilot and came across NHTSA Campaign number 20V725000. When i inspected my tires I can confirm that they are the ones in question as they are the Continental CrossContact LX Sport tires with tire size 245/50 R20 102H and DOT serial number of A376. When I brought the vehicle into the dealership over the weekend they were dismissive and stated they only have one recall on the vehicle. I have explained my concern to a body shop previously and they recommended I do some research to see if any recalls are in effect, to my surprise I located this from NHTSA. I showed them the NHTSA campaign number 20V725000 and they were dismissive. I went on to inform them that my tires match what is outlined and this is a safety concern for me. I have had issues with the tires losing pressure and I have had them rotated on a regular basis. I have not looked specifically at the spare tire, but I am asking that to be remedied as well if I have a full size spare that matches the recall. The tires have lost air suddenly where I have had to go into a tire shop or a gas station to add air routinely on occasion. It is hit and miss when it needs to happen and the weather is consistent, so now sudden change in temperatures to warrant this.

I have Continental cross contact 245/50 R20 104H. Upon 1 year inspection of the vehicle I was told all 4 tires need to be replaced and the vehicle is failing inspection. At the time the vehicle, which is a newer lease, had 30k miles on it. I’ve never owned a vehicle of any kind that has needed 4 new tires in just over 1 year. The garage is saying he has seen this issue before because the tires are too soft for the type of vehicle. I’ve managed to find the identical tires recalled just 2 weeks before the tires on my vehicle. I found recall date 2920 and my tires are 3120. It’s hard to image the same tire, manufacturer, and location didn’t have a recall issue they were unaware of just 2 week Ma later. It seems more likely it hasn’t been reported yet with that date.
