Issue: On certain vehicles, the suspension mounting points on the rear subframe could rust. As a result, rear suspension components could fail. This could lead to poor handling and a loss of vehicle control. Safety Risk: A loss of control could create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and install a rear subframe reinforcement kit or replace the subframe, as necessary.

Visual System

Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the wrong view mode to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse. As a result, the rearview camera image may not appear correctly on the display screen. Canadian regulations allow only certain view modes to be displayed when the vehicle is reversing. Note: Vehicles that received a software update previously under a Honda product update, campaign no. P01 - 'Incorrect Rear View Camera View Mode', don't require this repair. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display the correct view mode could reduce a driver's field of view behind the vehicle. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and have sent a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the vehicle software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Honda dealership.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the brake master cylinder could separate from the brake booster. If this happens, braking could be reduced or you could experience a complete loss of brakes. Safety Risk: Reduced braking or a loss of brakes can increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the brake master cylinder and brake booster. The dealer will inspect for any missing nuts and damaged brake booster parts and replace them as necessary.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the terminals on the coaxial cable for the audio display unit may not have been manufactured correctly. As a result, the audio display unit could lose its connection, and the rearview camera image may not display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the media oriented systems transport (MOST) cable harness, and install a cover over the audio display unit connector.

AIR BAGS

1.The vehicle’s airbag unexpectedly deployed while the vehicle was in Park and the driver was attempting to reverse out of a parking space. Multiple airbags deployed, including the driver-side airbags, the front airbag near the windshield area, and the long side/curtain airbag extending toward the passenger side. There was no collision or impact that would reasonably explain the deployment. The vehicle and deployed airbag/SRS components are available for inspection upon request. 2.The unexpected deployment of multiple airbags created a serious safety risk. The driver was struck in the head by the deploying airbag, resulting in dizziness, and was also struck in the chest, causing chest pain. A toddler was also present in the vehicle at the time of the unexpected deployment, creating an additional risk of injury to the child. The sudden deployment also created a risk of distraction, impaired visibility, and loss of control while the driver was attempting to maneuver the vehicle. There was no collision or impact preceding the airbag deployment. 3. No. The unexpected airbag deployment has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle is available for inspection, including the airbag/SRS components and vehicle systems associated with the deployment. 4.Yes. The vehicle was towed to a dealer following the incident and was inspected by the dealer. The dealer provided an estimate of at least $10,000 to repair the damage associated with the airbag deployment. The vehicle has not, to my knowledge, been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or an independent service center. 5. No. There were no known warning lamps, warning messages, or other symptoms indicating an airbag/SRS problem before the incident. The airbags deployed suddenly and unexpectedly while the vehicle was in Park and the driver was attempting to reverse out of a parking space. There was no collision or impact immediately before the airbags deployed.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in a parking spot with the brake pedal depressed, the engine revved unexpectedly and independently accelerated and crash into a Ford Bronco, a Jeep Cherokee, another vehicle, and two parking signs. The contact stated that while reversing into the garage, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle continued to accelerate before crashing into the garage. On another occasion, while driving into the parking lot, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into a store. There were no warning lights illuminated. The driver was not injured but sought medical attention at the hospital and was treated for three days. A police report was filed. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The contact was informed by a friend that the failure was related to the throttle body. The local dealer was not contacted. My 2022 Honda Pilot failed to engage Drive after reversing, despite the Drive button being pressed. This resulted in an unintended backward motion & a collision with another vehicle. 1.What component or system failed or malfunctioned…? The Electronic Transmission Shift-by-Wire system (push-button shifter) failed to respond to a gear change request. Additionally, related electrical systems including the dashboard infotainment system & the integrated USB charging ports have malfunctioned. The vehicle & its components are available for inspection upon request. 2.How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle experienced unintended motion. While attempting to move forward in a parking lot, the vehicle remained in Reverse despite selecting Drive. This failure led to a low-speed collision with a truck’s tow hitch. This defect creates a high risk of crashes, injuries to pedestrians, or property damage because the vehicle does not move in the direction the driver has selected. 3.Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle was previously serviced at a Honda dealership for a radio/infotainment recall. Since that service, the transmission has failed to engage Drive multiple times at random. 4.Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer…? The vehicle was inspected during the initial recall fix. And brought back because after the fix because the charging port stopped working/continued screen glitches. Following the recent collision, it is awaiting further inspection by a Honda dealership to determine the extent of the mechanical failure. 5.Were there any warning lamps, messages prior…? Symptoms began after the recall fix & included intermittent electronic failures of the charging ports/screen. There were no specific transmission warning lights prior to the gear selection failure; however, the persistent electrical issues in the dash area suggested a systemic electronic malfunction.

STEERING

With about 59,800 miles, a rattling noise under the driver's side of the car began near the end of June, 2026 and gradually became louder, specially on bumpier streets. By the last week of July 2026, the steering started getting erratically stiffer becoming harder to control the direction of the vehicle. A neighborhood mechanic replaced the inner & outer tire rods but this didn't resolve the problem. I brought the vehicle to the dealership, "Honda of Harvey" and was informed that the steering mechanism was failing including the steering RACK and would cost $5,000 to repair. Internet searches revealed that many 2023 Honda Pilots and some 2022 Pilots had been recalled for this same problems. My vehicle wasn't but apparently should have.

ENGINE

I had a connecting rod bearing failure. Thjs failure is exactly the same as the issue being investigated by NHTSA currently for modek year 2020 Honda Pilots. My car had 93k miles on it at the time of failure although I complained to my dealer as far back as September 2022 of hearing engine knock occasionally. The repair cost me $8700 not to mention the loss of my car for 10 days. The incident happened when I was on a family vacation and I had to have the car repaired at a dealer 200 miles away. I went to Honda America seeking some assistance given their current recall per bulletin 24-001, even though my car was beyond the model year range. The failure was exactly the same as that described in the bulletin. I have a record of oil changes on my car for the last 4 years. I typically change oil at 5000 mile intervals.

Multiple dashboard warnings appeared simultaneously, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam, Blind Spot Information, and a Brake System warning. The vehicle’s normal brakes continued to function, but the affected driver-assistance and collision-avoidance features became unavailable. A Honda dealership diagnosed DTC U3000-49, documented as an internal failure of the multipurpose camera, and recommended replacement and aiming/calibration of the camera. The quoted repair cost was $2,356.95 plus tax. The failure is intermittent. On one occasion, all warning lights disappeared after starting the vehicle and the Honda Sensing safety features operated normally. After the vehicle was shut off and restarted, the warnings returned and the safety features were again unavailable. Honda declined my request for goodwill assistance and advised that this is not considered a known camera problem. I am reporting this because failure of a single camera disables multiple collision-avoidance and driver-assistance safety systems. I am concerned that other 2022 Honda Pilot owners may experience the same U3000-49 multipurpose-camera failure.

SUSPENSION

Under Honda recall 26V-365 our 2022 Honda Pilot has a rear subframe that was not properly manufactured with the proper paint and corrosion protection. Honda has admitted this. Therefore, Honda is saying the subframe may rust at the mounting points. They are putting braces at these points in case they rust. We do not want Honda simply drilling and riveting brackets onto our rear subframe. This is unacceptable when it comes to our families' safety. We do not want to be driving a vehicle where eventually only brackets are holding our suspension together. What about the rest of the subframe?? This will eventually rust out and become unsafe. Honda admitted they manufactured our subframe with improper paint and corrosion protection. They changed their manufacturing process in August, 2022 (improved pre-paint treatment process) and January, 2023 (coating thickness) was increased. This happened AFTER our car was manufactured. The only responsible remedy for our car is to install a new rear subframe that was manufactured under the new process. Why would you allow Honda to do this to so many families?? People's safety should come before Honda's costs being kept low and allowing them to repair this admitted manufacturing error. I came to a complete stop at a red light. The car went into neutral and shut off completely. In order to restart the car, I had to put it in park to completely restart it in traffic. This same thing has now happened multiple times and each time it does, it comes shortly before the battery fails and will not start the car at all. I have been through 3 AGM Platinum batteries in the past year. Something is draining the battery. The starter, alternator and auxiliary battery have each been tested in the course of taking the vehicle to 3 different auto mechanics before going to the Honda dealership. All of them said these components tested fine (and they were tested under load). Honda acted like they didn't know about this being a common problem and suggested we replace the starter as an experimental remedy. We asked the Honda dealership for the software update fix and were told we already had the 23-008 update. However, after more research realize that it also needs a 23-009 and 23-010 update as well which was not offered. Honda's failure to take responsibility on this known chronic problem is disappointing at best and likely negligent/reckless.
