Brand/Model: Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra Size: 235/60R17 DOT Code: 1W281AAU11925, W281AAU1025, W281AAU14124, W281AAU10525 Purchase Date: July 28, 2025 I am reporting a catastrophic and unpredictable treadwear failure on a set of four (4) Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra tires (80,000-mile warranty / 800 UTQG). Despite professional maintenance, these tires have degraded to a legally bald and unsafe state (2/32") in less than 8,000 total miles. The tires exhibited a sudden "melting" effect. On October 31, 2025 (Odo: 28,330), a third-party inspection verified a safe tread depth of 9/32" with even wear. However, by February 20, 2026, the tires had dropped to 3/32", and by March 20, they reached 2/32". This represents a loss of 7/32" (70% of usable tread) in only ~3,800 miles. This rapid, non-linear degradation creates an emergency safety hazard, as the tires lost wet-weather traction and hydroplaning resistance in less than 30 days between service checks. Maintenance History: The vehicle (2022 Hyundai Tucson) has a documented history of proper care: Professional Alignment: September, 2025 (Insurance-certified). Tread Verification: October 31, 2025 (Confirmed 9/32" and even wear). Rotation Service: February 20, 2026 (Performed at 7,500-mile interval). The failure is global across all four tires, including the non-driven rear axle, indicating a fundamental rubber compound defect. Retailer (Costco)has denied warranty support, citing "rapid wear" as a non-covered issue, despite the tires failing 72,000 miles before their engineered lifespan. This defect leaves the consumer on the road with unsafe, bald tires that failed without warning.

The driver side front sidewall developed a shake then a crack appeared in the sidewall about 4 inches long. The other tires show signs of dry rott. They have worn away to nothing in 21k miles less than a year. Can provide mechanic reports of the validity of my car's parts cause ive had a horrible vibration and sound. Turns out the tires are coming apart. And they are refusing to fix it. Said too much of the tires worn away. I have proof that all possible precautions were taken as ive spent a good bit of money having the garage confirm my parts are good trying to track that vibration and sound down. Now im seeing more and more people reporting this. The reviews on these tires are more of the same. Vibration and separation. This isn't right. That warranty is bs especially when I reached out yo kumho 2 times previously. Theyre going to get someone killed. 3 of the 4 tires are showing signs of failure. 21k miles in on a 65k tire balanced and rotated every 5k miles

I was driving on the Kansas turnpike at around 75 miles per hour. The tire started making a noise similar to driving on rough pavement. I pulled onto an exit ramp to check the tires. I saw a hole about 1/4” long in the sidewall and watched as the tire deflated. The tire was very hot to the touch and smoke came from the hole. I was in a unsafe area so slowly drove a few yards up the ramp where I could pull out of traffic. The tire tread had completely come off the tire and looked like it had been cut off the wheel with a knife. If the tire had come apart while traveling at a high speed, I believe I would had had a wreck. I have no idea why the tire came apart, the roads were dry and the temperature was 90 degrees F. I hit no pot hole and the was no visible puncture or nail in the tire. The tire was one of four I purchased as a set. Now my wife is afraid to drive her vehicle worried that one of the other tires may also fall apart.

Kumho 225/60 R17 99H Original equipment tires on my Hyundai Tucson 2017. A little over a month ago we noticed a wobble in the front and I have a car at highway speeds and even lower speeds as well. When I removed the front passenger tire to inspect it I noticed there was bulging in the tread and the tire would not roll across the floor smoothly. I checked the rear passenger side tire at the same time and it also had bulging in the tread and would not roll smoothly across the floor without tipping over when it hit the bulge. I believe these tires should be recalled along with the other batch of Kumo tires from the same time. That have already been recalled. I took the car into the local Hyundai dealer in Anchorage and had a new set of tires put on a couple days ago and the service personnel at the dealership can verify that these tires are defective. I have the tires in my possession and would be happy to turn them in to be inspected.

ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT KUMHO TIRE R REAR EXPLODED ON THE HIGHWAY, DESTROYING THE WHEEL WELL, BUMPER, AND SIDE PANELS, AND ALMOST CAUSE MAJOR ACCIDENT. AFTER HAVING TO GET THE STATE PATROL TO STOP TRAFFIC ON ALL THREE LANES WE DROVE CAR ON THE RIM TO THE OPPOSITE OF THE HIGHWAY WHERE THERE WAS A MEDIAN STRIP. WHEN WE WENT TO REPLACE THIS TIRE, WITH GOOD TREAD AFTER SOME 56,000 MILES WE LEARNED THAT ANOTHER TIRE, THE L FRONT, ALSO HAD DELAMINATED AND SEPARATED, AND THAT THERE WERE TWO LARGE BALD SPOTS WHERE THE TIRE WAS FAILING ALSO. HAD THIS FRONT TIRE EXPLODED THIS WOULD ALMOST CERTAINLY HAVE CAUSED A ROLLOVER AND PROBABLY KILLED OR SEVERELY INJURED MY DAUGHTER, THE DRIVER. I STILL HAVE THESE TIRES, WITH A FAILURE RATE OF AT LEAST 50%. KUMHO HAS DONE NOTHING TO RECALL THESE DANGEROUS TIRES, NOR HAS HYUNDAI.

I NOTICED MY TIRES HAD BEEN EXTREMELY WORN, VIRTUALLY NO TREAD LEFT FOR ONLY HAVING THE CAR FOR 6 MONTHS. I BEGAN NOTICING THAT DRIVING WAS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT THAN EXPECTED IN RAIN AND SNOW, UNTIL I REALIZED MY TIRES WEREN'T IN LINE LIKE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. ONCE I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY HAD REALIZED THAT MY CAMBER BOLTS WEREN'T PROPERLY TIGHTEN WHICH CAUSED MY TIRES TO BECOME OUT OF LINE AND BEGIN TO TILT CAUSING THE INSIDES TO BECOME VERY WORN DOWN. I WANT TO BRING THIS TO SOMEONES ATTENTION IN HOPES THEY CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT MANUFACTURER MY VEHICLE CAME FROM TO HELP PREVENT THE SAME ISSUES FOR OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2014 HYUNDAI TUCSON GLS FROM MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR, I NOTICED A STRONG VIBRATION THAT SEEMED TO COME FROM UNBALANCED TIRES. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE FIRST TIME AND THEY FOUND IT WAS UNBALANCED AND PROCEEDED TO BALANCE THE CAR. HOWEVER, THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I STILL NOTICED A SLIGHT VIBRATION WHEN I DROVE THE CAR, AND IT WAS ESPECIALLY BAD AT 50MPH. I TOOK IT BACK FOR A SECOND TIME TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY BALANCED THE CAR AGAIN, BUT ONLY A VERY SMALL AMOUNT. AGAIN, BALANCING THE TIRES MADE NO DIFFERENCE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A THIRD TIME AND RODE IN THE CAR WITH THE LEAD MECHANIC AT THAT LOCATION. HE ALSO NOTICED THE VIBRATION AND ASKED I LEAVE THE CAR WITH HIM. HE THEN TESTED ONE OF THE OTHER TUCSONS ON THEIR LOT THAT WAS THE SAME TRIM MODEL AND HAD THE SAME TIRES. HE REQUESTED I GO WITH HIM IN THAT CAR, AND WE FELT THE SAME VIBRATION AS IN MY CAR. HE DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. ON COLD MORNINGS, THE CAR VIBRATES SO BADLY IT CHATTERS MY TEETH AND FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. MY CONCERN IS THAT IT WILL ONLY CONTINUE GET WORSE WITH TIME, CAUSING PERMANENT DAMAGE. EVEN THOUGH THE CAR HAS A GREAT WARRANTY, I STILL FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING IT AND AM RELUCTANT TO TAKE IT ON LONG TRIPS. I CURRENTLY HAVE A CASE OPEN WITH HYUNDAI MOTORS USA. THE CASE WAS OPENED IN MARCH OF 2014 AND HYUNDAI FEELS IT CAN BE SOLVED BY REPLACING THE TIRES. I HAVE NOT DONE THAT YET AS THEY WILL NOT GIVE ME COUPONS FOR THE FULL PRICE OF THE TIRES. THE VIBRATION HAS STARTED TO GROW NOTICEABLY WORSE AND I AM CONCERNED FOR BOTH MY SAFETY AND OTHER PEOPLE THAT MAY HAVE THE SAME CAR.
