The front upper control arm failed and the driver side wheel collapsed. There was no warning. Luckily I wasn’t pulling my RV camper down a mountain, it could have been catastrophic . I towed it to Carson Chevrolet. They gave me an estimate of $6,000 + for repairs. They had no reasonable explanation.

This truck is a 1500 Silverado custom with extended tail. There was a loud sound as if something happened , I moved to the shoulder and there was nothing visibly wrong. All tires had air in them, continued driving but did noticed a difference when I would back or turned to the right. Then days later one of my tires sort of was ruptured from the side of the tire and had to change tire. I put the spare and it is when I notice the bushing on both arms that hold the front wheels was loose. Looked for recalls and this model Chevrolet 1500 has a recall for front suspension arm bushing giving out and it is exactly what happened to my truck. The loud sound must have been one of them and then since most of the weight was put on the other bushing, made the tire give out and both bushings are not broken or torned so the bolt that holds arm and bushing is movable and loose, not holding the wheel the right way

The vehicle's structural frame rails have suffered a catastrophic failure. The driver-side frame rail has a physical separation gap measuring between 1/2-inch and 1 inch wide. The passenger-side frame rail is actively delaminating and separating from the inside out. The vehicle and the failed component are completely intact and available for immediate inspection upon request. SAFETY RISK TO OTHERS:The structural integrity of the truck is entirely gone, creating an extreme safety hazard. If driven, the frame is at risk of snapping completely in half, which would cause an immediate, catastrophic loss of steering, suspension control, and braking on public roads, risking a fatal crash for the occupants and nearby drivers. CONFIRMATION BY A SERVICE CENTER:The problem has not been visually confirmed via a safety inspection. The catastrophic splitting aligns exactly with the premature corrosion patterns caused by the failing factory wax defect openly documented by General Motors in Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 19-NA-255.4. INSPECTION BY MANUFACTURER/POLICE/INSURANCE:The vehicle has not yet been inspected by General Motors corporate, local police, or insurance representatives. It was immediately deemed unroadworthy and taken off public roads and parked. WARNING LAMPS AND PRIOR SYMPTOMS: There were no warning lamps, or dashboard messages. The only symptoms was when going over a bump it made a weird noises which was inspected and found the crumbling/failing frame. Because the multi-layered steel frame rots from the inside out due to moisture trapped behind the defective factory wax coating, the structural failure remained entirely invisible until the frame physically cracked open and separated.

The contact stated that on other occasions, while driving 65 MPH and above, the vehicle drove over a bump in the road, and the rear of the vehicle lost control and drifted into another lane. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the leaf spring pads needed to be replaced, and the rust protection was the cause of the leaf spring bushings cracking and separating. The vehicle was not repaired yet. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered to cover a portion of the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

I was driving on the highway at about 70 mph and the passenger side lower control arm where the ball joint sits broke. It messed up the passenger fender and tire along with the steering link. It also bent the upper control arm as well. The ball joints were replaced about 6 months ago.

My trucks leaf springs need to be replaced. I am not a mechanic so I do not know if my safety is at risk, but I do not like the way it sounds when driving. My dealership has confirmed the issue and carshield said they are unable to pay for the repairs because it is a "bulletin". It should be a recall since they have had multiple complaints. I was not notified of the issue on my chevy ap or the truck. I had to take it in for an oil change, so I had the guys look at the area the noise was coming from.

Vehicle was determined to be unsafe to operate per inspection performed by Mike Maroone Chevrolet on 8/26/24 immediately after I purchased from Rocky Mountain Auto Brokers in Colorado Springs on 8/8/26. It was discovered by customer immediately after sale that bank 2 catalytic converter was restricted internally (after Rocky Mountain failed to correctly diagnose and repair 3 times before and after purchase). Customer discovered emissions warranty extension and took to Maroone Chevrolet. After warranty repair inspection of vehicle determined it was not safe for customer to pick up and drive vehicle and generated a report and video showing front suspension damage so loose that could cause crash and vehicle was towed back to Rocky Mountain for repairs. Rocky Mountain has failed to provide any documentation on these repairs and many subsequent repairs including transmission replacement after many written requests. Customer cannot verify if vehicle repairs brought vehicle back to a safe condition. Almost anll repairs by Rocky Mountain has failed resulting in missing bolts, bolts falling out after transmission replacement As well as failure of many CV Axel replacements documented in their own records. Extended Warranty Company also refuses to provide documentation of transmission replacement after they supplied the part (transmission) to Rocky Mountain for installation. Customer cannot verify if in fact transmission was replaced as it was painted black. Any warranty on replaced transmission cannot be verified and they also have refused to provide documentation or serial number verifying same after many written requests. Customer would like to submit a detailed letter and safety inspection report with further info and details in addition to this online form complaint as this is a complex case and additional info will further prove up these allegations. Some documents provided by Rocky Mountain are inconsistent with customer complaints and do not reflect accurate info.

in beginning of January of 2026 my vehicle had lifter issues. Brought it to Chevrolet Group 1 in Spring Texas. Three weeks without transportation. Beginning of February the vehicle stopped in the middle of the feeder. Vehicle lights up but goes dark for five seconds and will not start. Had it towed back to the same dealership and told it was the battery cable that needs to be replaced. Three weeks passed no transportation. In the middle of April 16 2026 I was driving on the feeder in the far right lane and the front right wheel came off hanging by only the tie rod. the vehicle slid a good 700 to 900 almost crashing into a muffler shop gate. Upon inspection the muffler shop mechanic notice that the front right upper control arm bolt threads are not damaged and the nut is missing.

The frame of my 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has rusted through to the point of failing Maine state safety inspection at only 41,000 miles. A licensed Maine inspection station identified structural frame corrosion and determined the vehicle is unsafe to operate. A Chevrolet dealer confirmed the frame rust and stated the truck must have rusted sections cut out and welded to be made roadworthy. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: A rusted-through frame on a pickup truck is a serious structural defect. Frame failure while driving could cause loss of vehicle control, separation of suspension or drivetrain components, or catastrophic structural collapse, particularly at highway speeds or under load. The vehicle is currently unregisterable in Maine due to this safety failure. The failure has been confirmed by both an independent licensed inspection station and by a Chevrolet dealership service department. This failure is consistent with a known manufacturing defect documented in GM Technical Service Bulletin 19-NA-255, which acknowledges that the wax coating applied to the frames of 2011–2024 Silverado and Sierra trucks was improperly applied by a third-party frame supplier, causing the coating to peel and exposing bare steel to premature corrosion. GM has issued this TSB but has not issued a recall, and Chevrolet dealers are not consistently performing the repair. I contacted GM Customer Assistance to request goodwill repair and was refused; the representative also declined to open a case. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages prior to discovery, as frame corrosion is not monitored by vehicle systems. The defect was identified visually during state safety inspection. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect pattern and consider a recall, as was ultimately ordered for the similar frame corrosion defect on Toyota Tacoma trucks.

Well taken care of 2020 trailboss upper control arm completely failed driving down the interstate with family in the truck. Suspect defect from ball joints. Only 68k miles. No warnings. Tire fell into suspension causing thousands in damage. Had to be towed. At high speed we could've all been killed. Seen multiple reports online of similar ball joint/ control arm failures. This needs to be addressed ASAP! Very dangerous.

SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT THE LEAKING OIL POLLUTION IS CAUSING HARM TO ME AND MY FAMILY AS WELL AS LEAVING OIL RESIDUE IN THE DRIVEWAY. NO WARNING MESSAGES EXCEPT FOR WHEN IT SAYS ADD OIL, THAT'S WHEN I'M PUT ON NOTICE THAT THE VECHILE IS LOSING OIL. On 2-23-2026, while traveling at highway speeds on the freeway, the front upper and lower A-arms (control arms) suffered a complete structural failure. This caused an immediate loss of steering control, forcing the vehicle off the road. By sheer luck and reactive maneuvering, I was able to avoid a multi-vehicle collision; however, the failure resulted in over $4,000 in mechanical and body damage.

The contact then lost control of the vehicle, and the vehicle drove from the right side to the left side of the road, the vehicle drove off the road and crashed into a ditch before coming to a stop. The driver had not sustained any injuries. There was no property damage. The air bags did not deploy. The check engine, the ABS and several unknown warning lights were illuminated after the failure. A tow truck driver who was also a mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the driver's side front suspension had fractured from the upper ball joint and the wheel was folded in underneath the vehicle. I was pulling out onto the road and heard a noise in the front and right after my upper ball joint snapped completely off folding the tire underneath the truck and smashing the whole front end. Very lucky I was not on the highway. Had truck towed into my shop where after examination part failed prematurely. My insurance paid for it all which was just short of $10,000 in damage minus my $500 deductible and the tow bill. Now I have lost my safe driving deduction because of this claim, which caused my insurance to skyrocket. There were no prior warning signs, and I have my vehicle serviced and inspected regularly at my service provider.

We bought the truck new 2018 and started having trans issues and leaf springs popping. So, we took back to dealership and all they did was change fluid in trans and pump grease in-between leaf springs. I did get them to finally change passenger side leaf spring out, but that does no good when leaf spring they put on has the same issue. The leaf springs have to much gap in between each leaf. I told them to give me a 1,000.00 and I would go and have some made. That way, if I put a load on leaf spring it less chance they could break going down the road. Also, we have issues with radio that also did not get fixed by gm and still has the issue we can't use today. My truck also has the 6.2l engine that you guys have had complaints on. I will tell you that I'm not happy with what Gm is doing with these defected parts on these trucks. They are doing quick fixes to save them money on their screw ups and could get us killed. We are still having the issues to this day and they just brush us off. We pay a lot of money for these truck and Gm is ripping us off and costing us more money because we have to pay to fix their mistake, they should be fixing for free. All I want from Gm is get these issues fixed right and pumping grease in-between parts does not fix anything. We have to hold them accountable for these issues and make them fix it before it cost more peoples lives. I just want what I paid for and I did not get that when I bought it with these types of issues.
