A tire purchased new as part of a complete set failed on June 29, 2026, approximately 58 days after purchase. The vehicle was being driven on a smooth road surface under normal driving conditions when the tire suddenly failed. There was no known impact with a pothole, curb, road debris, or other road hazard before the failure, and there were no warning lights, messages, or noticeable symptoms indicating a problem with the tire before it failed. The sudden tire failure created a serious safety concern because it occurred while the vehicle was being driven and could have resulted in loss of vehicle control, a collision, or injury to the vehicle occupants or other motorists. Because the failure occurred while traveling out of state, the tire was taken to an independent tire service center for inspection. After inspecting the failed tire, the service center documented that the tire had separated internally and determined that the failure was due to a manufacturing defect. Written documentation of the inspection findings was provided. The failed tire was later taken to the selling Goodyear location for inspection. Goodyear disagreed with the independent inspection and claimed that the failure resulted from a pothole impact. No pothole or other road hazard was struck before the tire failure. The failed tire has been retained and remains available for inspection upon request. While pulling car trailer down the interstate on 6-27-26 at 70mph, my Free Country ST205/75R16 D106 10 ply trailer tire with less than 200 miles on it blew out. This was the spare for 2 years and has 9/32 tread depth on it still. I recently this spring rotated it to the LR of the trailer. Pieces of the tire blew onto and hit a passing SUV. Luckily nobody was hurt and I was able to get to the shoulder with only some fender damage. The tire was changed and with research I found the warranty was only 1 year. I was not happy with this, but moved on and bought another tire to replace it. Yesterday 7-4-26 I pulled the same trailer and upon arriving to my destination noticed another one of the tires that was purchased at the same time is separated badly all the way around and is on the verge of blowing out. This tire has been on the trailer since I bought the set of tires new, and has just under 8/32 tread left. These tires are under 3 years old, and used well under weight capacity. I keep them aired up near the max to save gas, and check them regularly. I cannot be the only one having problems if 2 out of the 5 I bought are coming apart already. Ultimately these are a safety hazard. If that had been a motorcycle beside me, or a large enough chunk flew off. Someone could have been killed. Pics available upon request.

The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado LD Crew with General Grabber RST/LT-T1. Tire Size: 255/70R17. DOT Number: A3E8hn002320. The contact stated that while spouse was driving approximately 30 mph they heard a stranger noise and noticed that rear passenger tire had split. The tire was remove and replaced with the spare the contact then stated that a week later contact's husband was driving around 50 mph and abnormal sound was heard again and that is when they noticed that the rear driver side had a blowout. Triple A was contacted and vehicle was towed to their home. The contact stated that they contacted tire manufacturer General and tire manufacturer stated that they would need to contact the dealer, dealer stated that the tires were bad and that General would not assist on replacing the tires. Contact stated tires are original tires of vehicle. Vehicle and tire failure damage was about 40,000.

My truck tires were bought at Costco in 2015 and had 70k Warranty or 6yrs WCF. My added truck mileage since then is 12k miles. I discovered my driver rear passenger tire go flat . I put the spare and took it to Costco for repair. Costco informed me that this is a tire defect as the tire had a side wall perforation. Tire cannot be repaired and a new replacement is required. I looked up Michelin tire recalls and found one issued in 2013 about Michelin X-Radial tires discussing this same defect but it did not include my tire size ( P245/70R17 ) . Fortunately this incident did not occur while driving at high speed.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was pulling to the right and the sensor light was illuminated while purchasing the vehicle. The contact stated that the failures were temporary. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle pulled to the right and the rear end of the vehicle felt as though the rear was dragging. The contact stated that there was a metal dragging sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact pulled over and inspected the vehicle but found no visible failures. The contact stated that the TPMS warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that smoke was coming from the passenger’s side front wheel. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the brake caliper had seized, and the brake line had collapsed. The contact was informed that the caliper and three sensors on the wheels needed to be replaced. Additionally, there was also a leak in the oil line. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.

Tire: 275/60R20 I was driving at the top of Bay bridge, MD and the rear tire just blew up and automatically messaged came on the gauge cluster and my phone that there’s 0psi in the tire so I had to stop on top of the bridge and put a spare on which was quite dangerous but I had no choice because I couldn’t drive on the rim, tow truck showed up and helped me, I had only couple ladders on the back so there was almost no additional weight on the tires and at only couple months old vehicle with only 4,900 miles this should’ve happened. I automatically went to the dealership that I bought the truck and showed them the picture where it happened and what exactly happened and at first they wanted me to pay for the tire but I insisted that they will have to replace it for free because they sold me a vehicle with defective tire so days later they did install a new tire as a one time courtesy they said, but I did check on this tire and there’s a 3yr free replacement warranty if it’s a defective tire but the dealer didn’t tell me that, so now I wonder if any of my other tires will have the same defect?

Tire size 285/45R22 114H . While driving on the interstate at 70 mph had a large vibration that started occurring. When I was pulling over to figure out what was going on I heard a loud bang and suddenly lost air pressure to the Drivers side front tire. Once pulled over I could see the tire was flat. Upon removal of the tire I found the inner sidewall had blown. The tread was also separating in the area where the damage was. The tires are only 2.5 years old and have only 22.5k miles. They have been rejuvenate rotated with the last rotation just 3k miles prior. The company refused to honor their warranty stating it looked like the damage was caused by a pothole (which never occurred).

The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal flapping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle while the vehicle started shaking and vibrating. The contact stopped and inspected the vehicle and discovered that a baseball-sized bubble had developed on the tread of the rear passenger’s side tire. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 2,000.

The contact stated that upon exiting the vehicle, there was a loud boom sound that came from the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the front passenger’s side tire had exploded. The contact stated that there was an excessive amount of rust between the rim and the tire. An independent mechanic was sent to the location and a spare tire was placed on the vehicle. The contact stated that the explosion of the tire caused the rim to be bent. The was concerned that the tire had been mounted improperly. The defective tire was not replaced. I had just left RV Park in Kingman, AZ. I had cruise control set at 59MPH when My truck began a violent shacking and a lot of banging. I pulled over on the shoulder of I-40, Got out to find tread had come off of the tire and was now wedge between brake backing plate and leaf spring. It had not lost air. Just tread came off. When tow truck driver showed up several hours later, tire was still holding air. He jacked up the axle, but deflated tire before he would remove it from truck and put on my spare. I always check my tires when I leave rv parks or after stopping at rest stops. Saw nothing wrong with tire or air pressure that morning. I had only been driving 45 Minutes, outside temp was low 80's.
