My son was driving down the road going 30 and both curtain liner airbags deployed and the left side hit him in the head . GMC is denied my claim twice after careful consideration. That was the explanation and we have an undriveable truck with a truck note . Incident happened may 31 and they denied me July 23.

The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. A Chevrolet dealer was contacted and stated that the VIN was previously under recall, and the vehicle was repaired in Maryland in 2016 under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V209000 (Seat Belts). The vehicle was recently repaired at Lancaster Chevrolet in Lancaster, SC (1616 Charlotte Hwy, Lancaster, SC 29720), and the contact stated that the vehicle would be covered under warranty if the mileage was under 184,700 miles. The contact paid out of pocket to have the cable replaced. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

I had the recall #09184 regarding the faulty air bag for my Chevy Silverado. I took my truck to Chevy dealership in Marshfield mo. They were supposed to fix the airbags and bc the air bags deployed without an accident the seat belts locked up. They did not fix the seat belts. Making my Trunk unable to pass state inspection. They refused to fix the full issue.

I am writing to formally report a persistent and dangerous manufacturing defect regarding the rear window and seating assemblies in my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado. I have already had GM replace the rear window in 2023, it needs replaced again now in 2026. The rear window seal is failing, allowing a significant amount of rainwater to leak into the cab. Because of this ongoing water intrusion, the structural base and brackets of the rear seats have developed severe rust. Furthermore, I am deeply concerned that this constant moisture saturation is creating an unseen mold hazard within the cabin, which poses a direct health and respiratory risk to my passengers.This leak also risks damaging sensitive electrical components and wiring harnesses located under the rear seats and trim panels, potentially causing short circuits and sudden failures of critical safety systems while driving.Many other owners of this generation Silverado have reported identical issues, including cracked plastic frames around the sliding rear glass that cause the leaks. Because this defect compromises vehicle integrity, creates a risk of electrical failure, and poses health hazards from mold, I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential safety defect requiring a manufacturer recall.

I was a front seat passenger in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and was properly wearing my seatbelt at the time of the incident. The vehicle struck a deer, and during the collision, the passenger seatbelt failed to properly restrain me. I was thrown forward and struck the windshield. The seatbelt did not appear to lock or tighten as expected during impact. It is unknown whether the seatbelt pretensioner or airbag system activated properly. This created a serious safety risk, as the seatbelt did not perform its intended function of restraining the occupant during a crash. I am submitting a safety complaint regarding a vehicle restraint system failure. I was involved in a collision with a deer. During the incident, the seat belt pretensioner activated; however, the seat belt did not properly restrain me. I experienced forward movement despite the pretensioner activation. The airbags did not deploy. Because pretensioner activation is intended to lock and tighten the seat belt during a collision, I am concerned that the restraint system failed to function as designed. This raises concerns about occupant safety and the ability of the seat belt system to provide protection in future crashes. On January 28, 2023, my Chevrolet Silverado was involved in a significant multi-impact collision. At the time of the accident, I was a front-seat passenger and my vehicle was fully stopped when it was struck from behind at high speed by a Dodge 2500. The force of the rear impact pushed my truck into the vehicle in front of us, resulting in a secondary front-end collision. This sequence occurred twice. During the collision, the front passenger-side airbag did not deploy, and the front passenger seatbelt failed to lock. As a result, I was thrown violently within the passenger side of the vehicle and struck my head on the dashboard. In contrast, the driver’s seatbelt locked properly, as did the rear seatbelt where my child was seated. Due to the failure of the passenger-side seatbelt to lock, I sustained a severe concussion, a black eye, and other injuries. The vehicle was subsequently inspected by my insurance company. When sheriff’s deputies and state police arrived at the scene, they expressed concern and surprise that the passenger seatbelt did not lock and that no airbags deployed despite the severity of the collision. Shortly after the accident, I contacted GMC regarding these safety concerns. GMC retrieved the vehicle’s Crash Data Recorder (CDR) and conducted an investigation. I was later informed that GMC found no defects or issues with their products. Nearly three years have passed since the accident, and I remain deeply concerned and dissatisfied with GMC’s conclusion. The passenger-side seatbelt did not function as designed, while the driver and rear seatbelts did, and no airbags deployed. I do not believe adequate accountability or explanation was provided regarding the apparent failure of the passenger-side restraint system. Given the force of the impact, I could have been ejected through the windshield.

I got in my truck and put my seatbelt on, next thing I know it’s just hanging there. The cable in the seatbelt broke, down by the door frame. Very dangerous! Can’t imagine if I had been in a car accident! Now my seatbelt is a safety hazard! I took it to the local dealer and they said they can fix it, they ordered the parts and said it’ll be over $300. They stated it had already been fixed during a recall & it’s my responsibility now. I would think Chevy would get this problem with the seatbelts fixed asap! The car seat anchor system is very poorly designed and extremely difficult to use. I just spent an hour trying to ensure the seats for our grandchildren are installed correctly. The upper anchors are poorly placed, difficult to access and do not inspire confidence the seats will be secure in the event of an accident. This is after I had to take the truck in for a warranty claim because the lower car seat anchor on the back seat passenger side was covered by factory upholstery and could not be used at all. It’s very frustrating when one attempts to comply with safety regulations but poor design inhibits the proper installation of car seats.
