VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
During operation of my 2015 Ford Edge Titanium, the vehicle experienced intermittent loss of acceleration and multiple electronic warning messages. While driving, pressing the accelerator pedal would sometimes result in little or no vehicle acceleration. The RPMs fluctuated abnormally and the vehicle appeared to enter a reduced-power condition. Warning messages included “Hill Start Assist Unavailable” and traction/anti-skid related warnings. Cruise control also became inoperable. The issue created a safety risk because the vehicle would not reliably accelerate during normal driving conditions, including while attempting to maintain speed in traffic. This created concern about merging, crossing intersections, or safely responding to traffic conditions. Additional symptoms included rear lights remaining illuminated unexpectedly and electronic brake-related behavior that appeared abnormal. An independent auto parts diagnostic scan identified low-voltage history codes and a brake switch/brake signal issue. The vehicle battery tested good at the time of inspection. The transmission reportedly showed no faults during the initial scan. The brake switch issue was temporarily adjusted to allow the vehicle to be driven to a repair facility, but the underlying issue has not yet been permanently repaired. The problem has been reproduced during multiple driving events and was observed by an independent service provider. The dealership later advised that no recall currently applies to the vehicle VIN for this condition. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Prior to the failure, warning lamps and messages appeared intermittently, including traction control, anti-skid, and “Hill Start Assist Unavailable” notifications. These symptoms began before the major acceleration issue occurred and became more frequent over time.

Bought a used 2019 Ford Edge, and transmission had issues within 2weeks of minimal operation!! Transmission slippage, does not go into gear or has a long pause going into gear (even right from park). VERY HARD shifts in lower gears upon upshift AND downshift. Also, gets worse the longer you drive it. It jerks, bucks, lurches, snaps your neck forward or backward, or does not go at all!! After this happens for a few minutes, it wouldn't even go into reverse!! That's just TRYING to drive it. As you might imagine, it's quite difficult to concentrate on road signs, hazards, pedestrians, and other cars whilst you're trying to drive this thing!! How could FORD possibly even think this is a safe vehicle!!

On Wednesday May 13th the car started acting a little jerky whence putting car in reverse like normal. There was a thunk sound. But it still shifted. We then drove the car about 10 miles. Then later in the day attempted to drive home. It’s was over-roving while driving. Acting erratic. We pulled into a tire place to see if something was stuck underneath. The check engine light was on and there was an error message saying broken parking brake? They said to have it towed to a Transmission Specilist. To our horror. They are saying it needs a new transmission! A 4 yr old car? This is not normal. It worked fine until now. It would not move out of second or third gear. It nearly crashed.

while traveling the car begins lurching and jerking until it reaches 40 MPH, At that seed it resumes traveling smoothly. As soon as it slows down the lurching and jerking resume. We have taken it to a dealership, and they claim it is the transmission. The problem started approximately 2 months ago at 74,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the cruise control system unexpectedly disengaged. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and a sensor failure was diagnosed. The sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that a temporary fix was to turn the cruise control system off and then back on. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

I bought this car on 12/15 with 97k miles on it, and the second day it started jilting very badly when SLIGHTLY acceleration. Now, I have noticed when I am at a stop light, it takes an additional 2-5 seconds to “Jult” back up to speed while everyone else that was at the light is very much so ahead of me. There were a few times the car didn’t accelerate, and the person behind me almost hit me.

The torque is shuttering like crazy. I took it into Ford months ago multiple times and they said they had no idea because nothing was coming up, no codes or anything. I have been religious with maintenance checks and whatever they recommend at the dealership. Today my check engine light went on and the cores that came up were about my torque shuttering. Ford released a TSB about the shuttering on my make and model and saying the course of action is to replace the torque converter. I called Ford and told them all this and they quoted me thousands and said they aren’t liable for the repairs. How are they not responsible when this is a manufacturing issue? The car is unsafe to drive and Ford even released a TSB but they refuse to fix it.

My Ford jerks and shutters as I accelerate from 0 to 40 per hour. I took it in to Capitol Ford in Carson Ctiy, NV. They told me the transmission computer software need to be upgraded. I'm afraid the transmission is going to go out and cause a accident. No accident has happen yet.

Vehicle: 2017 Ford Edge Issue: Sudden loss of power / Transmission failure Safety Concern: Loss of acceleration at highway speeds Complaint Description: I am submitting this complaint due to a serious safety issue with my 2017 Ford Edge. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle began hesitating when I pressed the accelerator. While traveling on the highway, the car accelerated to approximately 60 mph and then suddenly dropped to around 40 mph, despite continued pressure on the accelerator pedal. The check engine light illuminated. I immediately took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection and was informed that the transmission had failed and required replacement. This is a major safety concern. The unexpected and uncontrollable reduction in speed while traveling on a highway created a dangerous driving situation for me and other motorists. A sudden loss of power like this can easily lead to rear-end collisions and serious accidents, especially in fast-moving traffic where other drivers have no warning and do not anticipate a vehicle rapidly decelerating. I believe this issue poses a significant safety risk and request that NHTSA investigate this problem to help prevent potential crashes and protect drivers and the public.

My 2019 Ford Edge begin to stutter after I reached 60k miles. When I accelerate it stutter between 15-35 MPH I called Bill Brown Ford spoke to a service advisor , she stated it’s in the transmission so I took my vehicle to a transmission shop was informed nothing wrong with trans. The car jerks during take off biggest fear it shutting down while driving. No warning signals in the dash just begin to drive differently during take off. Too many complaint for this not to be listed as a recall before someone gets hurt.

Have felt an issue with the transmission under 40k miles. Around 50-55k miles I got the transmission checked. Ford dealership/garage said it was the PCM that needed updating. After that, just under 60k miles I took it back for same issue and they ended up rebuilding the transmission. It has been driving fine but after another 20k miles (currently at 80k miles) it is starting to have the same issue. This is a problem because when trying to start to move forward, it will almost "stall" or "stutter" and has almost left me stuck in oncoming traffic while trying to turn. It has also caused issues while trying to accelerate on the highway too that have almost caused rear-end collisions. Looking through forms, it seems that most 2019+ Ford Edges have a problem with their transmissions and it's a common part that needs to be replaced.

In April of 2025 I got my normal oil change and I mentioned to the technician that the car seems to be jerking more than usual when I start trying to accelerate. They mentioned that the car needed the coolant flushed out and that could be contributing to the issue. I had it done in June. It was not causing the issue but the jerking got worse. So this month, August 2025, I took the care to Aamco Transmissions and Total Car Care. They did a full systems and diagnostic courtesy check and determined that I need my transmission replaced or rebuilt which is at least $7k. This is a 2021 Ford Edge. I am the only owner. I have 71k miles on the car and never thought that I would have to fully replace a transmission in 4 years.

Car began to jerk, shudder and lurch during acceleration. Sometimes jerking strong enough to make steering difficult. Took car to dealership and was diagnosed as a torque converter issue. Was told this is a common issue with this transmission and was quoted nearly $5000 to repair. No lights or warnings come on. The problem began very abruptly. Currently the car has yet to be repaired so parts would be available to inspect if needed.
