2020 Ford Fusion Parlin, NJ Crash

SUSPENSION

While turning into a parking lot the lower control arm snapped (broke in half, approximately). The picture I sent is of a front lower control arm, however it is not a picture of the actual control arm that broke. After it broke, the car was forced into a sharp left turn, resulting in the car crashing into a telephone pole. The pole was not damaged but there was damage to the car.

SUSPENSION

One day the car was fine, next morning went to start car and was greeted by multiple failure warnings - Adaptive Cruise Control Not Available, Service AdvanceTrac, Steering Assist Fault Service Required, and Hill Start Assist Not Available. Efforts to restart without errors failed. Power Steering lost and unable to turn the wheel without great effort. Parked car and towed to dealer, Failure of Electronic Rack and Pinion Steering per the dealership at a cost of $2500 - $3000. Car Donated to Charity. Concern in submitting is a record of other recent failures of this year, make and model failing in much more dangerous situation than mine but appears that this part has reached its useful life without identification from Ford of the likelihood of failure on these older cars.

2016 Ford Fusion Bemidji, MN

SUSPENSION

Considering your experience of losing total control of the vehicle even while driving slowly while following a snowplow vehicle dispensing road deicer while plowing; I have a strong suspicion that his has happened in 2024 as well when the vehicle had registered a drive issue and the dealership found now existing reason for it. The compacted snow forms a large layer of snow and ice in the wheel wells to the point that it is rubbing on the tires all around the wheel wells. As this icy snow hardens while the vehicle is parked; it is dangerous to drive on any road surface in this condition at any speed. While the danger was less in the past due to not driving to Cass Lake, Minnesota from Bemidji, Minnesota and back nearly every other day; it has become critical this winter because of the high increase in winter snowy road driving that you are currently doing. Even though doing Hemo-Dyalisis at home decreases the danger; this vehicle is at risk of suddenly going out of control during winter snowing highway driving conditions if ice and snow builds up around the tires where it can suddenly release and jam tires from turning. You need to be aware of the danger you place yourself and other motorists in if you are driving this Ford Fusion Energi while in these dangerous driving conditions. In the past I have seen the condition of ice and snow buildup in the front and rear wheel wells to the point that there is less than one half inch of clearance between the tires and the ice/snow buildup. I did not allow you to drive it that way until I had chopped and removed it from around the tires and wheel wells.

2016 Ford Fusion Bel Air, MD Crash

SUSPENSION

On May 16, 2024, Plaintiff [XXX] was in urgent need of replacing the front passenger side tire on his vehicle. He began searching online to compare automotive service providers, focusing on those offering competitive pricing and professional-grade installation. During my search, 1 came across Mr. Tire's website, which prominently displayed claims such as "Expert installation for less" and "Quality service for superior stopping power." According to their site, their tire installation package included: • Tire mounting and wheel balancing • Standard valve stem replacement • TPMS inspection and reset • Wheel alignment check • Precision wheel torque by hand tools • Lifetime tire rotation • Lifetime rebalancing Believing this was a comprehensive and professional service package, I scheduled an appointment at Mr. Tire, located at 5 Bel Air South Parkway, Bel Air, MD 21014 (Store #771). Upon arrival, I checked in with the store manager, [XXX] , who prepared my service contract. She explained the total cost for installing the new tire would be $191.53. The technician assigned to my vehicle was [XXX] , as listed on the service agreement and receipt. On August 4, 2024, while driving, I was involved in a serious accident. The front passenger side tire completely detached from the vehicle while in motion, causing the car to slam into the ground. I was severe risk of injury or death. The way I’ve taken this to court as I went back and looked at the reviews as of today’s date October 18th 2025 they still are committee, consumer fraud, unsafe, work practices, deceptive business practices, and are putting the community and the residence of the state of Maryland and beyond at risk from unsafe work practices and I have submitted the reviews as a PDF as an attachment to this complaint I am requesting for investigation into their business for unsafe work practices and 49 U.S.C. § 30101 (Purpose and policy)  INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 55

Was driving at about 45mph on [XXX] on [XXX] and there was a lower control arm failure on the front passenger side of vehicle. Caused the vehicle to be inoperable. I was able to have someone pull me out of the way to not impeded traffic with the car in neutral but was unable to do much with it. It was late at night so I was unable to really access the damage. My wife had our insurance tow the vehicle to my home a few hours ago on [XXX] and it appears the lower control arm is gone, the axle has detached from the wheel (axle still hanging from bottom of car), pretty bad damage to the inner wheel well, passenger fender, and minor damage to the front bumper and passenger side skirt. I had read there was a recall on this vehicle online and wanted to find out more about my options. The car has just shy of 100k miles and is a daily driver. So I am stuck in a bad potisition with this. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2019 Ford Fusion San Diego, CA

SUSPENSION

The vehicle wheels and steering wheel bounce and shake when brakes are applied, regardless of the speed level; this felt like I am losing control of the vehicle and as if the wheels, and components of suspension or brake system will collapse all of the sudden. No warning lights came up in the dashboard. The vehicle was inspected by the dealership (Kearny Mesa Ford Service, 7303 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92111) and they confirmed the problem, the problem still persisted after they performed checks and repairs, their response was "we are not sure what's causing the problem and we need more time to diagnose.".

2020 Ford Fusion Los Angeles, CA

SUSPENSION

Vehicle Make/Model/Year: Ford Fusion, 20XX (replace with your year) Component Affected: Suspension – lower control arm bushing or mount Summary of the problem: I am reporting a recurring and well-known issue with the lower control arm bushings on Ford Fusion models from 2013 and newer. In my case, the bushing wore prematurely, causing a clunking or cranking noise when turning, especially at low speeds. The bushing or bolt appears to shift even when torqued properly. This problem has been acknowledged by many other owners as well. Safety risk: This affects the vehicle’s handling and stability. It can cause loose steering, misalignment, premature tire wear, and could result in suspension failure while driving. This poses a real safety concern, especially during cornering or evasive maneuvers. Repair history: This issue is so common that owners often have to replace the bushings or the full control arm multiple times. Even after replacement, the problem can come back, suggesting a design flaw. Community evidence: There are many online complaints and forum threads about the same issue in Ford Fusions from 2013–2020. This appears to be a widespread defect that has not been formally acknowledged by the manufacturer. Request for action: I’m asking NHTSA to investigate this recurring suspension issue and determine if a safety recall is warranted. This is a design defect that affects vehicle safety and should be addressed by Ford.

2020 Ford Fusion Brunswick, OH

SUSPENSION

At approximately 99,900 miles, my 2020 Ford Fusion began experiencing serious transmission issues, including rough shifting, hesitation, jerking, and difficulty accelerating, especially at low speeds or while merging onto highways. These symptoms created an unsafe driving situation, particularly in traffic and intersections. I took the vehicle to multiple repair shops to have the issue diagnosed. This process caused my mileage to go slightly over the 100,000-mile recall coverage limit for transmission repair assistance, but I have full documentation showing that the transmission problem clearly began while the vehicle was still under the limit. I later discovered that Ford had issued a recall or Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) related to known transmission issues on this model. The CSP is 22N12, however, I never received any notice from Ford by mail, phone, or email about this recall or warranty extension. I was unaware it existed until after my car began to fail. Despite being under the recall threshold when the issue began, and having proof, Ford has so far refused to fully cover the cost of the repair, only offering partial assistance due to the slight overage in mileage. This is a serious safety defect. My vehicle hesitates or fails to shift properly at critical times, putting myself and others at risk of collision. I was not informed of the recall, and now I'm being financially penalized for Ford’s delay and lack of notification. I cannot afford this out-of-pocket expense, and I believe it is unfair and unreasonable to place this burden on consumers, especially when safety is involved. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter and urge Ford to take full financial responsibility for the recall repair. This defect is not due to misuse or wear-and-tear, but is acknowledged by Ford as a manufacturer issue I have an open case with Ford Corporate in which they have failed to get back to me about the issue. The manufacturer is using the wrong material for the parts on my car. Currently, the right-side lower control bushing is bulging out because a steel bushing was used instead of the aluminum one specified on the website. This issue is causing my car to pull to the right, making steering difficult. I've also experienced the same problem on the left side in the past. I request a recall to fix this and ensure the safety of all drivers on the road.

Was driving down a busy road with my [XXX] and [XXX] , when all of a sudden my steering wheel got super tight and the car shut down. A message stating "power steering assist fault" popped up on my dashboard. There was ZERO warning before it happened. I just bought this car 3 months ago from a facebook marketplace car dealer. When this incident happened 2 weeks ago, I googled 2011 ford fusion recalls and it says NHTSA recalled in 2015. When I'm not understanding is why a VIN number makes a difference, when I'm having the problem on the type of year/model that was recalled. I have been informed about the customer satisfaction program, which expired years before I purchased the vehicle. Again, why should that fall on me?
