2011 Honda Cr-V Harshaw, WI

STRUCTURE:BODY

There are known issues with Honda crv’s frames rusting in many states. There was a recall which we had inspection and straps added to strengthen frame. Now, frame has failed and even after filing a case with Honda care in April 2026, they continue to close the case, reopen it when we call back, call us with ring less voice mails so we are never able to talk to any case manager, and leave recorded voicemail for us to call back - and there is NO “Alexis” case manager. Dealership Dahl Honda in Rhinelander has been no help and upon initial inspection in April, would not say if safe to drive or not - only would say they forwarded pics and info to Honda Care.

2026 Honda Cr-V Pinehurst, TX

STRUCTURE:BODY

We recently purchased a 2026 Honda CRV LX and the rear window has shattered without cause twice. The dealership has replaced it twice, but now says they’re closing the report and calling it an environmental issue. We have two other brand new cars on our property with no environmental issues. They are refusing to continue to keep this case open until resolved. If it should happen again, we are going to be forced to get a lawyer.

2024 Honda Cr-V Fredericksburg, VA Crash

STRUCTURE:BODY

On 17 July 2026, I was attempting to park in a handicap parking place at May Washington Hospital Center. The outdoor parking lot is to the right of the hospital entrance and consists of several terraced rows with each terrace a few feet below the one above it. I was halfway into the parking space with my foot on the brake when the car (2024 CRV Hybrid Touring) suddenly accelerated. I pushed the brake pedal but it had no effect. There were no warnings from the safety systems. The front driver side hit a light pole which was the only thing that stopped me from going over the curb completely and dropping down onto the car below. The low speed crash still caused a total loss.

2017 Honda Cr-V Burlington, VT

STRUCTURE:BODY

On 05/06/2026 the vehicle was in for service at the Honda dealership (The Automaster, 3328 Shelburne Rd. Shelburne VT 05482). The inspection report notes "Rust Holes forming above rear trailing arms, non reparable area, will not pass future state inspection, recommend customer contact Honda of America @ 1-800-999-1009". They also provided a picture of the problem. I took the car to another garage and was informed that YES, this was a real issue and that the garage owner just spoke with someone who had a 2018 CRV with the same problem. The Honda dealership sent me a Recommendation Letter that stated "***Rear trailing arms (soon), *** State Inspection.

2026 Honda Cr-V at 9,000 miles Dover, OH

STRUCTURE

The contact owns a 2026 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle ran over a small wooden plank in the roadway, and the plank became wedged between the front passenger’s door and the body seal. The contact inspected the vehicle and became aware of a uniform one-inch gap between the body panel and each door on the vehicle. The gap was insulated by a plastic foam sealant. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was determined to be the driver’s error. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,000.

NHTSA complaint #11752450 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2024 Honda Cr-V Newcastle, WA

STRUCTURE:BODY

I am reporting multiple factory defects on my 2024 Honda CR-V, led by a severe, confirmed steering safety defect commonly known as 'sticky steering' where the steering wheel sticks/notches while driving and requires excessive force to correct, causing dangerous lane swerving. The authorized Honda dealership confirmed the steering gearbox has failed and requires replacement but the necessary parts are backordered indefinitely, forcing me to leave the unsafe vehicle at the dealership. Furthermore, the vehicle suffers from two additional major unresolved warranty issues recorded under the same Repair Order: a defective door weather stripping seal that has peeled off and detached from the door frame, compromising cabin weather sealing, and a strong, musty mold odor emitted from the AC system on low fan speeds that poses an air quality and health concern for occupants. Due to this unaddressed steering safety hazard, additional factory defects, and backordered parts, the vehicle remains out of service at the dealership (visited on 11 July, noticed that it's unsafe driving and returned the vehicle to service on 16 Jul) and no replacement car has been provided.

2012 Honda Cr-V at 210,000 miles Evart, MI

STRUCTURE

The contact owns a 2012 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while making a left turn, several warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel, and the steering wheel became significantly unsteady, causing a partial loss of vehicle control. Because the incident occurred within walking distance of the residence, the contact used a toy hauler to tow the vehicle to the residence. An inspection revealed that the rear passenger-side trailing arm had completely detached from the vehicle and punctured the subframe. Upon investigating the failure, the contact discovered that prior Honda models had experienced identical failures resulting from severe subframe corrosion. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied any assistance. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 210,000.

2014 Honda Cr-V Granada Hills, CA

STRUCTURE:BODY

I am the original owner of 2014 Honda CRV , color of the car is Pearl White, NH-603 PX, right after manufacturing guarantee, paint started to peel, top, back door, complete passenger side. Paint is bubbling and peeling off. I see many same issues on Honda CRV on the road. I believe this is a quality issue and if there is a defected paint, it can be other defective parts too. I called Honda dealer many times and raised this issue and answer was “there is no recall”. I went to multiple body paint centers, they all confirmed that Honda CRV Pearl White paint is defected paint, didn’t sticked to the body properly.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle felt as if it was driving over a bump in the road, causing the steering wheel to be unstable. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the rear trailing arm was rusted. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure); as a possible cause for the failure; however, the recall repair was marked as completed. The dealer determined that the recall repair was not performed. The dealer was notified of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 202,713.

2012 Honda Cr-V Tinley Park, IL

STRUCTURE:BODY

The drivers side (left front door latch) is inoperative. This was a recall from Aug 2012. The latch was replaced in 2012. Yes it is available for inspection. The door opens while driving and had to be tied shut to drive home and Honda dealership. Was told by Honda Corporate to drive to the nearest Dealership and repairs would be made under Safety Recall Notice from 2012, once they diagnose it as broken. Gerald Honda of Mattson diagnosed the problem and ordered the part on 6/16/26. They made an appointment for 6/17/2026 at 9:00am for the repair. The door open warning light intermittently blinks off/on for the two front doors, and dings. There were no warning lights prior to 6/16/26.

Roseville Toyota sold me a car with a faulty hood latch. It’s a safety issue and they refuse to acknowledge that they failed pre-inspections and refuse to fix it. I have to take it to an expert in order to close the hood

NHTSA complaint #11743604 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2025 Honda Cr-V at 38,000 miles Lebanon, IN

STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD

The contact owns a 2025 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that after purchasing the vehicle, the contact discovered that there was a gap on the passenger-side of the hood. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the hood fluttered upward as air entered under the hood. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the vehicle was performing as designed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who determined that the hood had separated and the hood latch was loose. The contact was provided a loaner vehicle. The dealer notified the manufacturer of the failure, and the manufacturer agreed to replace the hood. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained at the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

NHTSA complaint #11743499 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2026 Honda Cr-V Trumbull, CT

STRUCTURE:BODY

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my new Honda CR-V which is 6 months old. Water seeped into my parked and closed vehicle, and after that I experienced multiple hazard warning lights on the dashboard while driving on XX, which caused panic and concern for safety. The next day, the vehicle became unresponsive and the battery went dead. This was alarming because the warning lights appeared during highway driving, where a sudden electrical or system failure could create a crash risk. The vehicle had been parked and closed when the water intrusion occurred, so I am concerned there may be a defect related to water sealing, electrical systems, or battery failure. The dealer confirmed that the seal was broken and might have been a manufacturing defect. This caused water seepage. But they were not sure if the water seepage was related to battery giving electrical warnings and going dead. This uncertainty caused more insecurity as we do not know the reason for battery failure exactly when water leaked into the vehicle. Please investigate whether this issue is related to a safety defect. I request that this complaint be reviewed for any pattern involving water intrusion, dashboard warnings, electrical failure, or battery drain in this model. Vehicle information: Year: 2026 Make: Honda Model: CR-V VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 3166 mi Date of incident: 05-24-2026 Location of incident: [XXX] Additional details: Water seeped into the vehicle while it was parked and closed. Dashboard hazard lights illuminated while driving on I-95. The next day, the vehicle was unresponsive and the battery was dead. I have photos/videos/repair records. The warning lights were flashing hazard icons and system warning lights. The vehicle lost power and had to be towed to Dealership on Tuesday, 05-26. 2015 Honda Cr-V Norcross, GA

STRUCTURE:BODY

CHRONOLOGY OF CASCADING VEHICLE SAFETY FAILURES VIN [XXX] Vehicle 2015 Honda CR-V. 1 STRUCTURAL BODY FRAME DEFECT. Vehicle has a chronic upper body structural alignment defect allowing massive water intrusion to bypass factory headliner and moonroof seals. Multiple consecutive factory OEM headliners have been destroyed by water logging, proving the upper tracking architecture is permanently warped and cannot maintain an environmental seal. 2 ELECTRICAL FAILURE ENGINE STALL HAZARD. Saturated water tracking through the upper frame has migrated into primary engine bay electrical lines. This chronic moisture caused a severe short circuit that fried the vehicle alternator, voltage regulator, and primary battery requiring emergency replacement. This infrastructure breakdown creates an imminent safety risk of sudden loss of vehicle charging power and dangerous engine stalling while operating at highway speeds. 3 ADAS INFRASTRUCTURE FAILURES. Moisture migration has breached the primary dashboard wire harnesses causing active continuous power dropouts and glitching across the center infotainment screen and main driver instrument display interface, blinding the operator to speedometers and critical crash avoidance alerts. 4 AIRBAG HAZARDS ACTIVE BIOHAZARD. Saturated water tracking down internal pillars runs directly over Side Curtain Airbag modules and electronic connectors, risking sensor corrosion. Cabin flooding has saturated seating foam, endangering electronic Occupant Classification Sensors OCS that regulate passenger airbag deployment forces. Unremediated moisture left toxic mold spores festering beneath the seating infrastructure, causing severe respiratory irritation to occupants. REPAIR STATUS. Unresolved safety defect. Repair networks failed to remediate structural hazards. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA complaint #11740946 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2026 Honda Cr-V Clifton, VA

STRUCTURE:BODY

While driving at highway speeds, the factory sunroof glass panel of my brand-new Honda CRV spontaneously exploded outward with a loud bang, sounding like a gunshot. There were no vehicles directly ahead of me and no overpasses nearby. The sudden explosion caused immediate driver distraction and threw glass fragments, presenting a severe safety hazard at high speed. There were no warning indicators, physical symptoms, or unusual noises prior to the sudden failure. The vehicle was subsequently brought to an authorized Honda inspector (Farrish Auto Body) for a technical teardown and inspection. The certified estimator formally determined and documented that there was absolutely no evidence of an external impact point, rock strike, or road debris damage, confirming a spontaneous structural glass failure due to a manufacturing or assembly defect. The vehicle is currently un-drivable due to the missing roof panel and structural hazard, and the manufacturer (American Honda Corporate Case open) and purchasing dealership (DARCARS Honda of Fairfax) have delayed providing a resolution or safe temporary transportation. The component and the vehicle remain available for further official inspection.

2024 Honda Cr-V Lincoln, NE

STRUCTURE:BODY

While driving on the Interstate, the sunroof shattered. The middle section was completely shattered with glass remaining on the edges. I attempted to contain the remaining pieces by putting duct tape across the whole top. Further down the highway the entire sunroof blew off the vehicle. Not only was this frightening for me, it could have been a real hazard for anyone behind me. Luckily traffic was light and no one was driving directly behind.
