On 17 July 2026, I was attempting to park in a handicap parking place at May Washington Hospital Center. The outdoor parking lot is to the right of the hospital entrance and consists of several terraced rows with each terrace a few feet below the one above it. I was halfway into the parking space with my foot on the brake when the car (2024 CRV Hybrid Touring) suddenly accelerated. I pushed the brake pedal but it had no effect. There were no warnings from the safety systems. The front driver side hit a light pole which was the only thing that stopped me from going over the curb completely and dropping down onto the car below. The low speed crash still caused a total loss.

I placed a bid on a vehicle at the co-part location in [XXX] . I reviewed the damage etc. and found it to be an acceptable risk. It was advertised that the car was in an accident with the passenger side and front grill damage. here was allegedly no damage to the motor and most importantly the airbags had not deployed. It was being sold with a salvaged title. Knowing these issues, I purchased the vehicle, had it towed to Miami and began the repairs. I purchased all genuine Honda parts from the dealer and still I could not have all of the lights reset. Upon taking it to another dealership, I learned that my rear seatbelts needed to be replaced, as well as all of the airbags as they had been cut out of the vehicle and the areas where they were located have been closed using drywall screws, some of which are still there. The described condition of the vehicle directly influenced my decision to purchase this vehicle. The lack of airbags could not be discovered from an inspection. I spent over $27,000 to purchase and repair this car as I believed that it was a newer car with much longevity. I was misled by the offer from Copart, and the actions of this company amount to deceptive business practices and possibly even fraud in the inducement. The description of the vehicle and its condition, specifically that the airbags were not deployed, led me to believe that the car was as described. Copart either knew or should have known based on the information provided from the lien holder/insurance that either the airbags had all deployed, and those would have been shown in the photos or that they were still in the car and somehow went "missing" while in the custody of copart. Copart knew this and yet they continued to advertise the airbags as intact. Copart knew that the condition of the car was worse than advertised and that the "as is" terms do not shield copart from the liability of this misrepresentation as this was apparently intentional or reckless. The drivers front seatbelt latch has failed causing the driver to not be safely secured in the vehicle. This causes the airbag warning system to illuminate a warning indicator malfunction light on the dash display. The Honda dealership has refused to repair the item at Honda’s expense due to them stating the seatbelt latch is not on a recall list for my specific VIN although they did acknowledge that there is a problem with the seatbelt latches for that year model Honda CR-V.

While driving on the interstate at 60+ speeds, my steering wheel sticks and has locked up causing me to jerk the wheel so hard that I went into another lane and almost wrecked. Initially the issue happened when the car had 31k miles on it and was repaired by Honda under warranty. Now, at 51k the same steering issue is happening again and they are charging me to fix it. The first part replacement only last one year and 5 months. There is a well known issue with Honda CRV steering - why isn’t my 2022 CRV included in the recall? The steering wheel also feels like it becomes detached and loose when steering in a parking lot and knocks/pops with hard turns. The drivers side seatbelt doesn’t roll back up when disconnected causing it to stay loose and fall in the door way which has caused several large dents in my car due to the seatbelt falling in the door way as I close the door.

Vehicle: 2016 Honda CR-V Mileage: ~133,120 miles Component: Driver-side seat belt retractor The driver-side seat belt retractor failed during normal use and became mechanically locked and unusable. There was no crash, no collision, no misuse, no airbag deployment, and no SRS warning light at the time of failure. This failure rendered the primary occupant restraint inoperable. I requested coverage under Honda’s Seat Belt Limited Warranty, which states that seat belts that fail to function properly during normal use are covered. Honda denied warranty coverage for the driver-side seat belt retractor based on internal component classification, not because the seat belt functioned properly. The warranty denial was final. I was informed that the failure would not be covered under the seat belt warranty and that any assistance would only be discretionary goodwill, not warranty coverage. I am submitting this complaint because a primary safety restraint failed without a triggering event, and warranty coverage was denied despite normal-use failure. I believe the consumer-facing warranty language does not clearly disclose that a seat belt can fail mechanically yet still be excluded from coverage based on internal classification

On October 5, 2025 my 8 yr old granddaughter moved from the rear passenger side to the rear driver side. The seat belt buckle insertion (female) caused a deep gash on her knee, it cut through the skin, bleeding, pain, and stiffness. I checked the seat belts buckle receiver and there is thin part is that is sharper, It is a flawed design that more pronounced in the backseat because it is deeper in the seat, than the front of the car where adults sit. I purchased a 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid (VIN [XXX] ) that was represented as having only an airbag replacement. A certified Honda dealer inspection has revealed multiple serious safety defects: •Driver seat belt buckle malfunction (DTC B0050-F0): The seat belt does not function properly and cannot be repaired without replacing the floor harness. This violates FMVSS 209 (seat belt safety standards). •Rear differential/ESC fault (DTC C1851-18): The differential shows signs of prior impact damage, metal shavings were found in the fluid, and the gearbox must be replaced. This affects AWD and electronic stability control (ESC), which is federally required under FMVSS 126. These issues were not disclosed by the selling dealer. The vehicle was sold “as-is,” but selling a car with a defective seat belt and ESC system creates a major safety hazard. Repairs are estimated at $8,692.92 on a vehicle with less than 2,000 miles. This vehicle is unsafe to drive and should never have been sold in this condition. The vehicle was purchased from Central Autohaus, Dallas, TX, on [XXX]. The driver turned off and restarted the vehicle several times, and the vehicle operated as needed. Additionally, the contact stated that the rear passenger's side seat belt had failed to retract. The driver seatbelt failed to lock when rear end collision occurred and drivers face slammed into steering wheel. The steering wheel airbag failed to deploy when the car rear ended the vehicle in front of them. Drivers safety was jeopardized and now has severe concussion. The driver seatbelt mechanism when clipped is shaped in such a way that it presses on the driver hip joint causing nerve damage, pain, numbness in the pain and back. Because of the seatbelt mechanism shape and placement, seat adjustments cannot be made sufficient to alleviate the pain without impairing the driver’s ability to see over the steering wheel and/or reach the pedals.
