The doors, hinges, hood and other places is rusted, bubbled and huge 1-2" pieces of paint are coming off the 2018 Jeep JL Rubicon Unlimited at 32-35k miles. This is absolutely unacceptable when my unrestored 1988 Jeep Comanche is rust free! Been to every dealership around and they confirm it's an issue with these, but refuse to fix.

Hood latches failed 3 days after vehicle purchase. Hood blew into the windshield obstructing my view at highway speeds. Dealership claims they are not responsible for damages as the vehicle was sold as is, but states the vehicle passed safety inspections and was able to be driven on public roads. When driving down the road my jeep goes into an uncomfortable death wobble. It has already been to a dealer to fix this once but it isn’t . There is a weld defect in the driver side front and passenger door frame . When the electronics get hot from the summer heat they black out . The digital display is not calibrated to the odometer of the vehicle . The Jeep surges violently and almost caused a collision.

Paint bubbling and aluminum body panel corrosion on hood and front doors of my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (VIN [XXX] ), currently at 63,000 miles. This is a well-documented manufacturing defect affecting 2018-2021 JL Wrangler and 2020-2021 JT Gladiator vehicles with aluminum body panels. Stellantis has issued multiple Technical Service Bulletins addressing this exact condition: TSB 31-001-18 (March 2018), TSB 31-001-19 (July 2019), TSB 31-002-20 (October 2020), TSB 31-002-22 (December 2022), and most recently TSB 31-001-26 Revision A (February 2026), all titled "Aluminum Body Panel Corrosion Repair." The corrosion presents as paint bubbling along the leading edge of the hood and on the door panels. Filiform corrosion develops under the paint over many months before becoming visible. My corrosion warranty expired in January 2026, just one month before the latest TSB was issued. I am reporting this defect for federal documentation. The manufacturer has been aware of this defect for over 8 years (since 2018) and continues to issue revised TSBs rather than implementing a recall. A class action lawsuit ([XXX] et al. v. After several decades of producing the JK model Wrangler, Jeep transitioned to a JL model midyear 2018. There are essentially two distinct 2018 Jeep Wrangler models. Jeep (Stellantis) has accepted responsibility for a safety defect for the JL model years 2019 through current. This recognized defect affects heavy corrosion on the hinges for the doors which creates an extreme safety concern. My 2018 JL Wrangler has the same failure, same part, same time frame, but was unjustly excluded by build date. 6 of the 8 door hinges and surrounding body have various levels of corrosion. My dealer just completed a recall for a steering damper which is widely categorized as a concern for 2018 and 2019 JL Wranglers. This is irrefutable proof that 2018 JL Wranglers were built through the same assembly line process as 2019 and later versions. The safety concern I've described above should be included in the open factory recall that Jeep/Stellantis has accepted as their responsibility. I have contact customer service for Jeep/Stellantis multiple times. They refuse to hear my concerns, were incredibly unprofessional, and have hung up on me numerous times.

While driving higher speeds (45 mph+) I have had my vehicle start shaking very violently which results in me having to slam on my breaks to gain control of my vehicle. When this happens I have been traveling on the highway or interstate which puts other drivers at risk due to me unexpectedly having to come to a halt to gain control of my vehicle. I have taken my vehicle to the mechanic multiple times (dealership twice and local mechanic twice) and I have had everything replaced on the front end that could cause this and it is still happening. Steering dampener has been replaced twice in a year. Mechanic seems to believe that there is a design flaw in the vehicle that is causing it at this point. There is no warning message or anything that gives me any warning. I am scared to drive my vehicle on the highway or interstate.

I am looking for a goodwill repair of the defect of mixed metal causing corrosion on the body. Jeep states I am out of the extended warranty for repair. While driving on the highway, my 12-year-old daughter pulled a lever in the passenger seat, and the roof panel detached and flew onto the road. My 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL has a known corrosion issue TSB31-001-19 and TSB31-002-20. Corrosion on doors and hinges and spot welds. I have called local dealers and they won’t help. I got with the Jeep help line and they gave me a case number and said they would not be doing anything about it. They never gave me the opportunity to send pictures of corrosion in said areas. There is a Goodwill program that I asked about and was refused so I’m reaching out to the NHTSA and BBB to get some help with this issue. This is a well known and documented issue and not owner negligence. The Case# given to me was 94287282.

I am reporting significant premature rust on my 2020 Jeep wrangler. The rust is visible on all four doors and the hood. The vehicle has been properly maintained, regularly washed, and has not been exposed to unusual or extreme environmental conditions that would justify this level of corrosion. The rust appears along the bottom edges and seams of each door, as well as along the leading edge of the hood. These areas show bubbling paint and visible oxidation, which is spreading. Given that this vehicle is only five years old, this level of corrosion is unacceptable and inconsistent with the quality and durability expected from Jeep. Warranty Considerations: This issue should be covered under Jeep’s 5-year/unlimited mile corrosion (perforation) warranty and/or the basic corrosion coverage, as the rust appears to originate from beneath the paint along factory seams — suggesting a defect in materials or workmanship, not owner neglect. Action Requested: I am requesting that Jeep/Stellantis authorize a warranty repair to remove the rust, treat the affected panels, and repaint to factory standards to prevent further deterioration. Given the extent of corrosion at this age, I believe this warrants prompt attention and resolution under warranty coverage. This has been a known issue on 2018 to current Jeep Wrangler and they have not resolved the issue. They keep selling Jeep Wrangler with this issue.

After filing my first concern with the vehicle and attempting to rack my brain with answers to why a 2018 is falling apart at the seams, I can only come up with either fraud, or the vehicle has been modified in major ways and glued together only to fall apart every bump I go over. After some reading I’m questioning 49 CFR part 565 form that was turned in after I purchased the vehicle means that I possibly have a replica, “remanufactured”, or altered vehicle. I’m not sure of the legality of selling a vehicle built from whatever vehicles I have, I do know that parts are not all the same years upon scanning modules I got some strange replacement identifiers that I will send. I also question if it really passed emissions being that my short term fuel trim sensor passed the catalytic converter on both sides stays over 99% consistently, also one of the “inspection” reports was done 2 minutes apart and the paper states that the vehicle passed at 5:08 then failed at 5:10 pm the same day. Not many vehicles tend to try again after passing and 2 minutes apart. I would have never bought a vehicle that not only has random foreign parts but a 2015 vehicle is also showing up under module information. I’ll never have recall information, and it seems that every system in the vehicle meant to warn or save me and my family when driving is compromised completely, yet somehow someone was allowed to pretend that I was buying a 2018 jeep Sahara unlimited with no record on carfax that what I am paying over 50 grand for with tax doesn’t just get bad gas and jump half the road when I hit a bump “because it’s a Jeep”. I should have been made aware that I was buying something scrapped, and that the odometer could be from any of them. I would like to receive a report of the form filed months after I purchased the vehicle and my entire jeep changed description and was no longer being monitored for safety. The IPC, BCM, TCM, and ECU aren’t properly communicating, and panels are all shifting.
