2019 Dodge Grand Caravan Hicksville, NY

AIR BAGS

Air Bag light stays on. Mechanic found defect in driver's side headrest. Part was ordered in February 2026, still waiting for the replacement part 6 months later. Dodge has no idea when the part will be available. Extremely HAZARDOUS driving condition, driving without air bag protection because Chrysler/Dodge doesn't have replacement parts. This dangerous condition should be considered a SAFETY RECALL, that would get Chrysler/Dodge to take this more seriously and have the replacement parts. 08/06/26

Subject: Manufacturer and Dealer Non-Compliance / Obstruction of Federal Safety Recalls Vehicle: 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Description of Problem: I am filing a formal complaint against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA)/Mopar and its authorized dealer network for active non-compliance, negligence, and obstruction regarding 7 open federal safety recalls on my vehicle. Authorized franchise dealerships have repeatedly refused to initiate the recall process, scan my vehicle's VIN, or open a formal Repair Order to place required parts on backorder. One dealership nonchalantly dismissed the safety hazards, claiming parts are entirely unavailable because the recalls date back to 2010.( United Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram at Jeep Ram [XXX]) Another dealership employee, Craig, used hostile and coercive tactics when discussing service terms, creating an intimidating environment that makes it a safety risk for me to physically bring my vehicle to that location.(Star Chrysler Jeep Dodge FIAT 21110 Jamaica Ave Queens Village, NY 11428) On July 27, 2026, I contacted Mopar Corporate Customer Care to escalate this dealer non-compliance. I spoke with agent Sam under Corporate Case Number XXX. Agent Sam actively obstructed my efforts to secure a remedy. He falsely claimed to be contacting local dealers to check inventory, but when I offered to call those same locations, conference, to verify his claims, he strongly resisted. I asked to speak to a supervisor to escalate the agent's deceptive behavior and the dealer denials, but I was told the supervisor was completely unavailable and could only offer a callback within 24 hours. Under federal law, safety recalls do not expire. Manufacturers and their authorized dealers are legally obligated to provide a free remedy, log vehicle details, and procure parts. Mopar Corporate and its dealer network are actively prioritizing standard brush-offs and administrative evasion over public safety, with 7 recalls. 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan Smithfield, VA

AIR BAGS

In August 2024, the airbag system in a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan (VIN: [XXX] ) deployed unexpectedly while the vehicle was parked and not in operation. There was no collision, impact, or known external trigger at the time of deployment. The malfunction involved the airbag restraint system and/or related electrical or control components. An unexpected airbag deployment creates a serious safety concern because it could injure vehicle occupants or bystanders and indicates a potential defect in the restraint system. The vehicle was immediately taken to Banister Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Hampton, Virginia, where it has remained since the incident. To the best of our knowledge, the vehicle has remained in dealership/manufacturer custody and should be available for inspection. The manufacturer indicated they were reviewing the matter and determining the value of the vehicle; however, despite extended time passing, no repair, replacement, or written resolution has been provided. The issue has not been reproduced because the vehicle has remained out of service since the incident. It is UNKNOWN whether the precise cause has been formally confirmed by the manufacturer or dealership. No injuries occurred, but the incident placed the safety of the owners and others at risk because a critical safety restraint system deployed without warning while the vehicle was stationary. Documented NHTSA recalls affecting Dodge Grand Caravan airbag systems and related models demonstrate prior manufacturer awareness of airbag-related safety defects. Although this VIN currently shows no open recall, the spontaneous deployment raises concern regarding unresolved or inadequately corrected airbag system defects. No known warning lamps or dashboard messages were specifically recalled prior to the incident. Any additional warning indicators are UNKNOWN. 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan Hebron, CT

AIR BAGS

The driver's seat active headrest spontaneously deployed while my wife was operating the van. Luckily this did not cause an accident, but being hit in the back of the head by the headrest certainly can cause an accident in the future. Inspection shows the internal plastic latch mechanism broken, thus the spontaneous, unintentional deployment of the active headrest.

Was driving down the highway coming back from Orlando when my air bag light went off. Heard cracking in my head test and all of a sudden it expired and deployed and hit me in the back of the head and almost knocked me out. Made me dizzy and I had my kids in the car. This should not have happend if I was not in a car crash and dodge refuses to fix it. It was faulty without any warning. There are many people this has happend to and the had a extension back in 2024 and to repair them and I never received a letter
